Great video Mike! Everybody's operation is a bit different and appreciate you taking the time to explain the how's and why's you put into your decisions. You and your dad have a lot to be proud of in your operation. Gierok farms is also a favorite of mine. George and Aaron are awesome to listen to with their explanations. -Mark
Thanks for the shout out! When brock came in talking about the younger brothers needing to be cheered up and he was going to buy toys I was happy to tell him they were our treat! So glad to hear Landon is doing better!
You guys do an amazing job up there. Its my pleasure to shine a little light on what a great dealership you work at. From sales, to parts, to service, the Cortland store has it covered!
Thanks Mike! Truly a good region we live in, lot of good dealership staff with a common goal of supporting the customer, finding solutions, delivering fair priced equipment, and working together
I had a 3pt wrapper for 10 years probably. I just replaced it with a Vermeer trailer type. It came down to the 3pt is always going to be a two man job. I always said I was going to pour a concrete pad and make the 3pt stationary with its own motor/hydraulics. That I could run with a remote from the cab of the loader tractor. Mchale was definitely the better of the two options. Mchale makes a bale knife to split the bale in half. I just split them with an ax and use garbage carts to feed it in the barn. It works good.
Hey Mike, that unroller looks pretty good. I’ve been making and feeding balage for over 20 years. I tear it apart by hand and drop it in a poly cart from the hay mow. 2 bales a day. I think that will work well for you. Take care and I’m glad to hear Landon is coming along.
Glad to hear that Landon is on the mend, that is great news. Kudo's to Cazenovia Equipment for what they did, that is what I call going above and beyond. I watch the videos from Gierok Farm, they are a very down to earth family. Great video Mike.
Great to hear neighbors are doing better!! Great dealerships make farming that much more enjoyable! Sounds like you are adding alot of nice equipment to your having fleet and gonna make feeding so much easier!
The worksaver bale unroller is great (I'm a cow calf operation) . I've been using one for 10 years. I used to unroll it in a line. Now I unroll about two square bales in a pile back up and do the same. The cattle stand around the pile and not on the hay. I've quit using the bale feeders it works so well , waste is almost nonexistent and the cattle spread my manure. Be safe out there we need you.
Great machine and if you need to just pick it up on 3 point linkage and drive to field 👍 that bale unroller looks great might see if i can get one here probably have different make but will look into it Glad landon getting better prays go out to them for a speedy recovery 🙏
Caz looks after everyone, you have a great dealer that treats everyone the same. Glad to hear Landon is healing up. Great video, Mike. Beautiful sky behind you.
@@mikep7810 I bet you see some great sunrise's as well. The land is flat to my east, so I just see the sun come up over trees, but I see it set over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Can't have it all 🤣.
your going like McHale wrapper, the wrapped bales are ideal for smaller farms any crop hole crop Alfa wrap it all, Haylage in a mixer will be hard on the machine, can you feed from the mixer I thought you wheeled into the barn, id do freestyle barn with divided areas for milker's, dry cows , and heifers them a mixer wagon would help you just one process .
No I wont be able to drive the tmr mixer in the barn. Between the milkers, heifers, and dry cows I will have 2/3 areas to pull up to and unload into our feeding cart
I second your comments about the Gierok's. They are very good people and very active in the promotion of the dairy industry. You have a new method with the baleage and with a little bit of everyone's input you will develop a system that works best for your operation. There's probably some trial and error but that's what makes life special: a thought out process of your own that works for you. Continue on the mend Landon. One more thing Mike, very nice hats.
I bought an H&S linewrapper on an auction ten years ago and a Leo vertical mixer at the same time. I like it a lot, good way to go on a small dairy in my opinion.
Glad to hear that Landon is on the mend!! Nice wrapper I have a Vermeer trailer wrapper which was built by McHale. Remember the older you get the harder 3pt will be to hook up. By time you dads are you may have a different one!!
I’m a row cropper. Dad is the beef cattle man. One day I’ll be both. I study row crop technologies and started researching hay and cattle stuff. Getting rid of the red and green mentality, McHale has the the best baler on the market in my opinion. Some say JD is the best. Also I have people tell me NH is better than a Case IH. NH and Case IH are the same baler. My equipment decisions now depend on quality and service.
McHale has a really nice looking baler for sure. I got a better trade in amount from the dealership we were getting the Kuhn baler from. I demoed a JD but I liked the bales out of the Kuhn better
Baseball season!! Was reading about the change in ownership at Caz Equipment. My local CaseIh dealer just changed ownership also. Seed inventory keeps growing!!
Yes, first game was a rain out so the mets remain undefeated! I'm looking forward to Friday's opening day. I saw that about Caz. Hopefully its a smooth transition and everything works out well
Looking for a place to facilitate the use of the bale unroller. Do you have room next to the silos? Construct a place for the unroller and to store the partial bales under a roof, plus all the feed would come from one feeding central location?
It would, however, I don't want the whole bale to fall apart. I'd rather have the bale packed tight and roll off the part of the bale that I need and leave the rest packed tight
Love the options farmers have. No fits all. You mention White's or Clinton. I think Willard or John sr and his brother's Dominick and Frank. Been around forever hands on dealers. Big name or joe nobody treated the same.
Great video again Mike . Glad to hear Landon is home
I guessing you got a merger safe spring planting season to you n your family😅
Thank you Joe. That is a good guess
Thanks Mike
That bale unroller should work good for what you want to do
Thank you. I'm looking forward to getting to use it

Mixer wagon. Thanks for all the shout outs

The unroller sounds like a pretty good idea! I was kind of wondering how you would handle these big round bales get them into the barn.
I'm excited to use it. I think its going to be a really good addition to the farm
Looks like a great plan Mike looking forward to the next piece of equipment
Thanks Paul. I look forward to sharing it with everyone

Thanks Tony. I look forward to using the unroller

Good morning Scott. I cannot wait to use it
Nice video. Thanks for the shout out to Landon
Also thanks for the flowers from you and Mallory

Thanks Rick. I'm happy to say the roll bar days are behind us

Thanks Jim. I don't think I would have went wrong with either Kuhn or McHale

Yes, that was great to hear! It was really great of Cazenovia Equipment to put together a bunch of John Deere stuff for him

Yeah Gierok Farms definitely put out some really nice hats. I don't want to wear it to the barn because I think its too nice

Great video Mike. Is your other purchase a round bale moving trailer?
Watching from Minnesota.
Thank you Jerry. That trailer would be a nice addition
Might have to borrow the bale spinner for a day and collaborate a video on how well it works filling a mixer wagon
I like that idea. I think that would make a great video
Your on the rite track getting and keeping your hay at home! Why bale and leave them in field?
Thanks Andy. I get why some people do but it will work better for us bringing everything back to the farm
Looking for a place to facilitate the use of the bale unroller. Do you have room next to the silos? Construct a place for the unroller and to store the partial bales under a roof, plus all the feed would come from one feeding central location?
I don't have room by the feed room. I have another spot in mind once we get finished with another project
Mike for processing balage jaylor is best in the business. Square cut auger let's bale fall into the knives on it.
Thank you. I was very impressed with their mixer at the demo they did
Love your channel we ar just billding a. New shed it100ft date 80wide
Thanks Andrew. That sounds like a big building
dont always comment on every video but never miss watching one and always a thumbs up
I always enjoy your comments Dana
🚜🙂👍💪
Thank you Carlos
You could put a electric motor on the wic
I could but that wouldn't solve the issue of not being able to unload into a tmr mixer or have it fit in front of the cows
Here I was thinking you bought that SxS your boy was drewling over.
Haha he definitely would have liked that!
Great video like always mike, I’m going to guess it’s a hay rake !!!
Thanks Jeff. That is a good guess
Hey just wondering how much you guys are paying for plastic this year? Here in Quebec they are talking a big increase in price.
I didn't get the 2024 prices on plastic yet. I know we get a discount if we buy a whole pallet so we will go that route
I thought maybe your buddy Travis sent you something 🤦♂️🤣🤣
LOL. You had me literally laughing out loud 🤣🤣
hi Mike I don't know if you know about how farms work youtube channel but taking about wrappers round inline bale wrappers.
Thanks David. I've seen a couple of Ryan's videos. Looks like a nice wrapper
Holy crap 26k? We bought a brand new Anderson 3 point wrapper like 4 or 5 years ago for 8k
Yeah this is a real heavy duty, well built wrapper. It also has the remote control for auto wrapping to make it a 1 person job
If you could cut the baleage with the round baler, the bale will just fall right apart when you go to feed it
It would, however, I don't want the whole bale to fall apart. I'd rather have the bale packed tight and roll off the part of the bale that I need and leave the rest packed tight
