It takes a second to remember all the different UI for each brand. I'm liking the advanced mode for the Armytek Wizard so far. It has instant access to moonlight, main, turbo, and strobe modes. Skilhunt's UI is great too.

Right on. The issue for me is trying to keep them all straight. Its not bad if I use the same one on a regular basis. Thanks for commenting

"Tactical" is one of those words or phrases that get thrown around a lot. Sort of like "official size and weight" for kids soccer or footballs. It does have a great beam.
I got a big, powerful light, mostly for home use during power failures, car camping. It has a feature I’ve never seen. It turns off if the light gets covered to avoid over heating. Have you ever seen that? I don’t know why it just doesn’t have heat protection. It’s awesome for power failures though since low is plenty bright enough to light a room, and they claim will last for a couple days.

I agree Jim. I have a true tactical light review coming up soon. What brand is the light you are talking about. I am interested in it. Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft It’s called Infinity X1. It’s the Costco one I told you about a while back. What I really liked was it was on sale for like $40, came with a lithium battery pack, an adapter to use AA batteries, AND 8 Duracell batteries! The beam is kinda weird. It’s an almost totally even adjustable flood.
It’s a big sucker. Almost 13” long aluminum body.
It’s definitely not tactical, bushcraft, or anything of the sort. But it’s awesome for lighting up a room, campsite etc…. It’s 5000 lumens, 3 power settings and a 4 light power indicator. I just with there were 4 light setting, so it could go lower, and had at least a little centre hotspot to use for distance, but hey, like I said, it’s more for close range, lighting rooms etc..

@@MarkYoungBushcraft that should be the link to Amazon for it. Just for the record, I never tried running down the battery to test run time. So I’m going with what they said

G'day Mark, I do have a little Acebeam M10, ... A. to check out the brand and B. cheap and cheerful for the car glovebox, (actually I use the overhead sunglasses compartment, ...... but dont tell anybody). i.e. if car gets burgled, less impact on the wallet. I have had it happen, but they only got my least fav headtorch and a budget knife out of the center console. The M10 is still going strong, after, must be 5 or 6 years at least.
So, on to this model, I do think the bang for buck is there for EDC, (and yes, an attractive color as a change from black). Also, a little thing ; ) ...... but I like the screw in charging port cover too.
I'm with ya on the "Tac" side; (keeping mind Tac can mean different things to different people).
It's good there is a pouch, ..... but hardly duty belt or webbing worthy.
Debatable IMO, as to tail standing capable vs easier tail switch operation. If one may need to do the ol' wrist over wrist with pistol, for example .........forget tailstanding ; )
Yep, instant access to highest and lowest lums ....... and red light may be a consideration too.
I note there is some crenualtion, may help as a strike tool, though there is much more aggressive available; having said that, I hate 'em if they're so prominant as to interfere with the beam cast.
I'm quite happy with 18650 jobs, though for Tac specific, surely higher capacity 21700s would be far more desirable ...... and for much the same form factor.
    Cheers Duke.
P.S. Btw; I joined a pistol club the other day ....... we start at 9 ...... drink til 12 and ................P155 til 3

As always, this is a great review. It looks like the clip can be reversed, if installed in the forward groove.

Yes, you can; however, it does ride kind of high in the pocket this way with almost half the light sticking out. Thanks for commenting

Thanks for another great review, Mark! Always appreciate your honesty!
I will defer to your experience as to what makes a good "tactical" flashlight. That is not really something I'm generally looking for in a flashlight, as I'm much more interested in it's use as an EDC light. I also think the term "tactical" gets tossed around an awful lot, and almost certainly applied to things that really aren't.
Even looking at this flashlight as a potential EDC light, I still have a couple of concerns/questions. When I'm turning on the flashlight with the tail switch, I'd normally be holding the flashlight one way, and then when I want to switch lumen settings, I'd have to change my grip to get to the side switch. That seems awkward and potentially a drop-hazard to me, as fumbling to change hand holds while the light is wet, or cold, or I have gloves on is a concern.
I'd also be interested in your thoughts on how easy it is to actually find the side switch in the dark - does it have a good tactile feel, where you can tell where you are on the light, or do you have to look down and see where the side switch is?
Given the choices available these days, I don't believe I'll be looking at this light for possible purchase.

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  Місяць тому +1

Your observations are right on. It is an awkward light to use. The only reasonable way to use it is to determine which lumen setting you will likely use most and leave it, unless you have a need to change it. The side switch it not at all convenient to use. You are also correct about other simpler and still affordable choices out there. Thanks for commenting

Hi, you and paleo hiker inspired my recent alcohol stove obsession. I tried to make the ultimate spill proof alcohol stove that is easy to simmer. I made a short video (my first and likely last UA-cam video haha) to show my results. I hope you will watch it. Cheers!
