    Hello. I am following the instructions but when I disconnect the power and Ethernet then plug it into the outlet where my chosen location is, the link LED no longer lights up, only the power and Wi-Fi despite it saying all three should be lit. I’m not getting any boosted signal because of this. I’ve tried resetting and completing the steps 3 times to no avail. I would greatly appreciate some help if you have time please

      If you put the repeater much closer to one of the other repeaters or the original router does the link light then come on?

    Hey, just curious. Do you know whether there is any available firmware for this router? I received it from the ISP and its currently locked to their system

    • @freename
      @freename  3 місяці тому +1

      The ISP or reseller of the router will need to provide the firmware. The firmware my one has been updated to is: V570ACEB2C0
      How do you mean "locked to their system" ?

      @Ignotus. 3 місяці тому

      @@freename alright thanks.
      I meant their current firmware. Nothing I can control, as they control everything. It's absolute bollocks

      @@Ignotus. Zyxel provide a pretty capable lock down for providers. If they've locked it down correctly then the only way to bypass it is to somehow obtain the "Supervisor" password. Only Zyxel, the reseller and the ISP are told it.
      Depending on the default settings something like this very complex trick might work (with Zyxel based settings not ZTE ones)..

      I know the newer Zyxel routers do TR-069 via DHCP by default so would allow for this method of takeover. No idea if the range extender is the same though, sorry.

    In wired mode, it is kinda ok. If you want to use WiFi mode, it impossible to get the two units to connect.

    • @freename

      I've definitely had them working via WiFi between the units. It might take a few minutes for it to swap over to using wireless backhaul. Are they within range of eachother?

      @@freename they are within inches of one another. The app is horrendous and the entire experience is disappointing.

      @@dgauche I'm soon to release a video about the Zyxel Multy.. it's app is so bad that if you set a web access timer on the device you are using to administer the Multys from ... you can't then edit the config in the app and, unless you've also set a local password (you have to dig into loads of settings to do so) you can't administer it from another device either to undo it. You end up with a mesh setup you can never change settings on without factory resetting them.

      @@freename so what you are saying is be grateful, it could be worse! 🙂

    • @freename
      @freename  9 місяців тому

      Yes, be thankful people release equipment and software which isn't reliable and ready. And that the app you need to manage such a device could disappear from the app store or never be updated to be compatible with a newer phone etc.
      We've gone in such a bad direction.

    How much does this model cost?

      Can't remember off the top of my head but more than £80 and less than £110

    The problem here, you can't block local access for guest. If Guest devices connected to the WiFI, then they can play UA-cam video on your TV.
    Don't use it.

    • @freename
      @freename  6 місяців тому

      That seems.. like it's a problem Zyxel need to fix in software if guest wifi (if setup correctly in the mode to block data between the two networks) allows access to a TV connected to the private wifi!
      Are you definitely sure you had the guest mode selected on the correct option?

    I ended up ditching this crap and wiring two routers together.

      @freename  Рік тому

      What problems did you have with it? I'm about to install mine (I only did testing up to now). In any case using a network cable will _always_ be the best option to link WiFi transmitters.

    • @HansensUniverseT-A
      @HansensUniverseT-A Рік тому

      @@freename For me network cable or nothing, no access point should be connected in any other way if you want not only good speeds but good and stable coverage, that's the reality, unless you live in a cardboard box, anything mesh or extenders are highly limited, prone to interference, remember they receive then transmit, you are transmitting wifi to an access point and then wifi again, they use most of their capacity just receiving from the router, a rather expensive and silly way to set up a wifi network if you ask me.

    • @freename
      @freename  Рік тому +1

      Yes. But in some setups it isn't possible to get cables to the places people want WiFi. They have their place but the zyxel is an expensive option. The BT Whole Home original performs ok and is a fraction of the price.

    • @HansensUniverseT-A
      @HansensUniverseT-A Рік тому +1

      @@freename Expensive with very little returns, really poor object penetration, god forbid if you live in a concrete building, you pretty much need free line of sight for these things to work.
