This was so enjoyable to watch. I'm stealing this idea! Wvery time I feel like I'm getting burned out or the hobby feels stagnant, I come to this channel and it rejuvinates my desire to keep going. Thank you for sharing tour beautiful fish tanks☺️
Go for it, as you can see, it was incredibly easy, just took at lot of time... so worth it! FYI - I have a lot of floaters in the tank, to avoid algae. Thanks, for the praise, I really appreciate it. I love doing the videos and it's super-gratifying that people enjoy them!
Hi Dean, Krista Belisle here, I had asked you at the Calgary auction about how you raise the pseudomugil luminatus eggs once collected from the mop. I followed your recommendation and I’m happy to tell you that I have had success! So thank you very much for your advice. All the best.
Really great that you have the video footage to share Anubias Island at different stages. Seeing the furcatas and corys and shrimp enjoying it at different times is great. Love the cherries all over it;) Yes, when I listen to my fish I mostly hear "feed me" being yelled across the tanks. I'm not sure what my shrimp are telling me - I cleaned a small canister filter on my 40g and I collected over 40 baby shrimp inside (many of them very tiny.) Not sure if pregnant shrimp were sucked in, but there were no adults in with the fry. At the very least they are telling me there is plenty of food and no predators in the canister.
Thanks! That's what I love about this tank, it's a real toss up about what I like best about it... shrimp, blue eyes, rhads, cories, plants; it's an even heat and the leader changes by the hour.
Thanks, it was a year in the making, lol. Yes, there were 27 grown to adult. Paul (Edmonton) and Darrin (Vancouver) each got 10 and I kept 7 more (14). Hopefully, between the three of us we can distribute a few more spawns. I agree, they are insanely beautiful, really hard not to watch. I never thought that the most beautiful fish I'd ever keep would be a catfish, but it is and you would have to see them in person to really appreciate it. Their bellies are glowing orange, the males have intricate and unique vermiculation, but the feature that is most impressive is a green, silver or copper iridescent sheen that they have; I've never seen anything quite like it. RGB light is likely helping and the black sand has them at their finest as well.
@@LushSaltyAquariums They kind of have it all! Beauties... I watched the video and had to give them some white worm, need to keep the talent happy, lol.
Thanks! Sumo loach. Schistura species, not sure on the exact one as I've seen a lot of variability; the ones I had were really red with less of a barred pattern. They lived for about 8 years and were highly territorial, lots of border skirmishes. I like them, they are a very beautiful and interesting fish.
Absolutely, just keeping an eye on how fish respond to changes, especially unintentional ones, can result in improvements to their environment. Happy fish= happy fishkeeper. Keep going with the Anubias, once you reach "critical mass" you are absolutely on fishkeeping easy street. My most stable tanks are essentially big wads of Anubias, they become pretty bullet proof and can look great too.
Hi I purchased a set of six fork tail blue eyed all young no real color yet and maybe 3/4 of an inch long. Had about a month since added them to the tank before they all started dying off! All other fish species are fine and water parameters are good as well. Any thoughts on what is happening?
@@isaiahrider9497 That's OK, they don't seem to like low temps, so that was my first guess. They are generally a pretty durable fish and the only thing I've noticed is they don't do well at lower temps. Possibly viral or low quality stock. I would try again with larger fish ( I don't sell them until they are fully colored and about twice the size) from a local breeder.

You have to put out more of these videos Dean. You really have a knack for it. Thanks for sharing and inspiring those of us that watch.
Thanks Ryan, love doing them. I wish I had more time... better equipment... a lot more tanks, lol! Lots of ideas, so I will find a way!

So cool! Love your videos and energy Dean!
Awesome, thanks! I like making them, it's fun trying new things with videos. I try something new with each one.
Nice, seems like a really nice plant bundle! 👍
Thanks, took a long time to look good, lol.
It was a very nice sharing, my friend. Regards.
Thanks!
Your tanks look great and yes your fish can tell you a lot if you pay attention to them.
Thanks. Indeed, trying to get the message out to listen to the fish, they often know better than us, lol!
Thank you for this evolution video! Curious: did you get and keep fry from when the large Corys spawned? They're beautiful!

Awesome, thanks for sharing. I sent you a note on Kijiji.
Thanks! Got the message too.
Great video as always! Curious what kind of loach perhaps is in the first minute of the video?

Very cool 👍👍👍

We miss your videos! Hope everything's ok🙂
Thanks, I got behind a bit in what I wanted to do, mostly because of work, then had a major life event. Will get back on track when I find some time.
