A proper editing before the actual mix makes all the difference in the world, a lot of people watch top engineers videos and think they can do the same, but they forget those engineers have assistants giving them the mix already edited.
Yup.

When waves puts out a video and all the techniques you use personally are used >>>>
I’ve never needed to use a De-esser on myself or anyone else I’ve recorded. The waves R-vox is the bomb. I create an auxiliary track with the R-vox on it. I set the input to where my mic is plugged into, and the output to say bus one. On the track that is being recorded, the input is then bus one, therefore the vocals are getting recorded through the R-vox. Usually I record with just enough of a limiter to prevent clipping and just enough noise gate to eliminate any room hiss. Then, depending on the song or style of music, I will compress fully after the fact. I think I learned that trick from reading an interview with Butch Vig. Great plug-in, easy to use and very effective. Also pretty transparent
the x-noise learn at the end is a game-changer... I've been struggling in my room, it's not treated so this is a dream... cant thank you enough
Don't forget to check out the other noise reduction plugins we offer, they're just as easy to use as x-noise.

X-Noise was an absolute gem 💎
Just go through the vocal manually - takes 10 minutes and guarantees a truly musical result. I deal with breaths (adjusting the gain or replacing with better breaths), cut out gaps, finesse cross-fades and identify problems that may need a restoration process, such as RX to remove mouth-noise during a note. I will use a de-esser though, often manually automating the vocal volume to solve the worst.
...
Waves are still my favourite plugins really ahead of their time
That x-noise was actually really really good i must admit 😅
All the X plugins are secret gems
This for sure is going to make my vocal treatments much better . . . thanks!!!
One of the best explained tutorials
R vox is a preaty simple and useful plugins from waves! Now I see a new way to use it! Thanks!
RVox and an EQ for colour are often all I need to get a vocal into shape
how to really clean vocals in your mixes: buy these plugins
yeah xD
I swear
He’s right you can replicate the effects in most DAWs with just the stock plugins, but if you did want them they’re cheap as hell anyway. Worth the investment.
I've found some really nice free or cheap plugins that work as alternatives for most premium plugins. besides soothe 2 :(
lmaoook
I seriously appreciate this help and please don't take this as sarcasm but with the accent of this narrator, I'd love to hear the S-Chain before and after on his speech. Again, not a slam, I'm here because I need a debreather with my heavy breathing on my speech. I never hear it when I talk but when I listen to recordings, I always speak with such heavy breathing it ruins my videos.
Finally Gordon Ramsay is talking nicely to some people

Man I really appreciate all your tutorials really helped me becoming a better producer ❤️
These are some good information
X-Noise is really good, but keep in mind, it works best when the hiss/noise is UNIFORM as it was in this video. If the noise is coming from somewhere else, and not uniform, you may have to do a bit more work to remove it. (Cutting out that frequency, using diff plugins, etc.)
👾How did I do rapping on this beat ?????!!! LET ME KNOW👾 soundcloud.app.goo.gl/M3rAMs7pHf9oCuVz6
You are right RE uniform noise. Maybe I'll cover how to remove/reduce non-uniform background noise in a future video
Thanks for the Tip

Within 3 minutes of this video going up someone had already given it a thumbs down. Thus confirming to themselves their inner unhappiness 😂

Love love love ur plugins and ur deals. Please consider updating the visual quality of ur plugins and please start offering user controlled upsampling as well as higher sample rates on saturating and coloring fx. Thanks cant wait for my next purchase.
I actually learned a lot more than I thought I would 👍🏾
Thank you very much, guys. really helpfull all these tips
Great video!!! I have most of the plug ins you used, I'm excited to apply what I've learned, thanks
2ys, n I was searching for perfect tutorial as this since 1995. Thank u 2023. 🎉
Perfect explanation, thank you so much!!
waves ns1 is also a really good plug in
Was hoping that one showed up in the video
That's a killer plug-in
Just bought the NS1 and use it with Audio Hijack to clean up the fan noise in livestreams. When I use close miking w. dynamic mics I almost don't need it, but the condensers and this new Røde VideoMic NTG that's a foot away from my mouth, oh boy, the NS1 is a life saver. I'm also considering the X-Noise and the C1 Gate, maybe needed for the guests in the future... Anyway, no affiliation with Waves, just really great products.
Thank you so much for all of your wonderful videos Dan and Happy New Year!

Best tutorials for everything vocal cleaning
Holy Smokes.... I have all of these plugins listed and have never used most of them.... Really glad to know that these can be so handy.... I have an untreated room and the X-Noise is going to be really useful.... Thanks Waves...
Very good comparisons with Vocals, very Clean & well done using Tools to Fix Vocals without Ruining the Original Take; Great Stuff!
Great Video Thanks!
I recommend writing ur breaths in when writing the song to the instrumental!!
The steadman ps101 is a great pop filter. Pricey but sends the plosives to the floor rather than slow them down life most pop filters.
I wouldn't suggest removing breaths altogether, that can take away the natural feel of a performance.
yes true, even in podcasts.
Agreed, better to just turn them down if they're harsh
also you can't make sounds from your mouth without breathing
I agree 1000%
Yes
Very informative video and good examples! Though it's kind of unfortunate that the outro vocal clips at 10:44 when the video is about Clean Vocals 😂

Great content, my friend! Thank you, guys! My covers will sound a lot better from now on! :D
Reading comments like this really make my day Rodrigo, thanks for the support! All the best
More videos for voiceover work please!. We don’t just need noise reduction. We need a way to quickly insert clean PRE-RECORDED room noise at a very low volume without any unwanted noise like breaths, mouth clicks ETC. It’s not about isolating the vocals or noise gating to us, it’s about being able to patch up gaps in between words and phrases.
Fantastic
Excellent tips thank you for sharing.
Thanks!
Fabulous video
I found this video very helpful. Some I already knew, but De-Breath was new to me. I usually zoom in and edit out the breath intakes. It is time consuming, but was getting the job done. Will play around with De-Breath to see if it makes it easier. The devil is in the detail 👍
You can remove noise and hiss from fl's stock Edison... The toothbrush button will do that
Yeah ...but he’s also talking about after compression ...it amplifies the noise .
Edison... FL 😂😂😂😂
@@anujmajumdar4615 Just clean again with Edison.
@@dsr4902 I’ve tried it before ...but I realized that it takes out certain high frequencies away for messes with the quality..so I use a gate plug-in ...solves the problem for me .

thank so much... You really help me 👍🌟🎶
That Doo deee dooo, dooo dee dooo is now stuck up in my head lol
what i needed
thankyou so much!
I Keep my breaths in the take, it brings the full emotional of what I’m saying. I want it to sound close to a live performance as possible. I don’t like things so computerized all the time.
I would take the breaths down on a separate track, so the breath won't get any processing. This is a easy way to controle the breaths without making it sound harsh or computerised
"Another Leave Blown In The Breeze!!" 😩🎶
This whole video needs a “DeSSer”
🤣🤣🤣
So harsh.
Thanks again for making this video it really helped with knowing what to get.
Even in my DT770 Pro headphones, I can hear what the sound becomes after processing with these plugins. Especially when it comes to de-esser and multi-compressor. It was probably possible to achieve a better result using other plugins. But thnx, its a good tips.
I should've checked who uploaded this first, all the instructions require me to buy waves plugins
I just tried this ryt now ...and WAAAAOOOOOH....THANKS MEN
You are welcome Shaquay! Happy mixing bro
Honestly fantastic video

@@tmbtrose2262 really cool
thanks for this tutorial man it was really helpful
thank you this is a great video
Great as always!👍🌟🎶🎧
amazing man, super helpful
I would go for debreath but I don't on now if Waves have noticed that debreath pluggin has latency issues. Using them on a vacal will absolutely change the vocal sync with the beat and song by about 0.3milliseconds or more and you will definitely notice it.if waves can remake this debreath and have it work on a zero latency basis,I will very well appreciate it.i am a wave full time user for over 10hrs and still counting
I don't think that's possible with a plugin like this because it analyses audio. The problem is possible with your daw (FL STUDIO?), which might not have delay compensation.
Thank you Gordon. Good tips, validation.
ur the best

GREAT VIDEO!!
Love your vid's .. very helpful. thnx
AMAZING
Informative thank you
amazing. thanks
nice video but I just wanted to ask what exactly the anti-hiss plugin is doing to the sound and is there an alternative?
X noise basically can learn from a segment of the recorded noise and then reduce it from the whole recording afterwards.
@@andrestuart7994 that much I understood. I was curious what it did to the sound. I.e. does it EQ a certain frequency etc?
Waves: "So this plugin attenuates breath in a vocal performance"
Muse: ".....is there a plugin that makes breaths louder?"
compress them
Pppp]pppa
yes, this plugin also can make breaths louder
lol I know, everybody tries to get rid of what he called "saliva sound" I try to preserve it. I want that MMLP mic sound.
Brilliant
Thank you for this video
