The whole functions quote is such bullshit. The existence of a MVC series at all debunks it. If character were "just functions", Capcom would have simply created their own original characters instead of paying millions of dollars to license the Marvel characters.

There's a couple of stuff missing, but the video is really good nonetheless. Here's my 2 cents: - MSHvSF Karin was supposed to be playable with a schoolgirl uniform like Sakura's, but got scrapped. Mephisto was supposed to appear in one of Blackheart's super moves (the sprites and animation exist in the game). The PsOne port introduced DHCs (Delayed Hyper Combo), but with the point character since the PsOne ports couldn't handle the tag mechanics. This was carried over to the MvC1 PsOne port and then properly implemented as core mechanic in MvC2 (and carried over to MvC3 and Ultimate). This one I can't say it's true, but it's what I read around the net somewhere: Iron Man and Dr. Doom were considered to be in the game, but Midway had the videogame rights for the characters at the time (Iron Man X-O Manowar and a Fantastic Four beat'n up for PsOne), so they put Cyclops and Omega Red in the game instead. A similar thing happend in MvC1. Capcom wanted Iron Man in the roster, but the rights still were with Midway, so they recolored the Iron Man sprite from MSH, made new animations, hired other voice actor and got the rights for War Machine (funny enough there is a War Machine quote in this game saying he is not Iron Man lol) - MvC3 Dormammu had a different win quote vs Shuma. It was recorded and it exists in the game's disc, but never used. He also had a quote vs Dr. Strange, but Strange was only introduced in the Ultimate version (can be found around UA-cam) The game was supposed to have a Okami stage, the theme song is in the game's disc (can also be found around UA-cam, not sure if it's fake, fanmade or something) - UMvC3 Magneto's alternate costume was acessible through a glitch, but Capcom made a patch to get rid of the glitch. The costume is still in the game's disc (not sure about the steam version tho) The game was also supposed to have "same character teams" mechanic, because they have tag lines for themselves. The lines are in the game and "same char teams" can be used through hex editing. There is a scrapped mechanic where you burn a super meter to cancel any move to extend combos. What a rushed video, this could've been so much more. I can totally excuse the sound quality and voice from someone who isn't a professional video maker, but straight out skipping entries in the list, not to mention neglecting obvious information (like the fact that Dan's MvSF ending is an almost 1:1 parody of Ryo's ending in Art of Fighting 1) are just signs of laziness and lack of minimal research.

The story of Son Goku is old and famous in Japan. No one can own it, like no one owns Hercules. Disney can make a Hercules cartoon movie but they do not own him because he is a mythic legend and has undoubtedly had many iterations in stories.

people may be mad about zero being in MvC3 but if you know your stuff you know that Zero was originally supposed to the main character for the X series NOT mega man i find this to be very acceptable given that information.
In 'Street Fighter 6: 118 Rapid-Fire Questions With Nakayama & Matsumoto', both of the developers showed an interest in having a collaboration with DC (and/or Marvel), stating that "It would be a lot of fun, but really difficult."
It's far easier to recycle a character already in the game, compared to programing a new one. Which is why some of Capcom's fighting games had multiple head swaps of Ryu (Ken/Akuma/Dan/Sean), as well as Evil Ryu, in order to pad out the roster. Also; Ryota Niitsuma, the producer of 'Marvel vs. Capcom 3', stated on Twitter that he would've included Jon Talbain if it weren't for time constraints.
Dan's MSHvSF ending was a reference to Art of Fighting. Dan is an SNK parody after all.
Another fun fact: Dan's sister would actually make the jump to the main Street Fighter canon, as she runs SFV's in-game store.
