This is a very important message, expressed in a clear way. It confirms and supports that my end of seeking is not falling asleep, but accepting what is, in the way I see it in the very moment. The paradox is that sometimes a part of me is still falling in the seeking mode again. To accept this is for me the challenge now.

The most challenging aspect is that we see how useless seeking is, but when we stop listening to the video or reading the book and actually practice mindfulness, the egoic self seems to take revenge and flood our minds with even more feelings and emotions. I've been an "insight junky" for years, decades even, and the practice of meditation remains almost as difficult as it was when I started. Writing and reading and talking about mindfulness is much less difficult than practicing it. It's as if language is a trap laid by the egoic mind.

I am a seeker for the last 50 years . I often think I am in the same place after all these years of seeking .I have been practising meditation for over 45 years. I believe that I am more mentally stable, more compassionate and peaceful than I was 50 years back. But I am not certainly confident or sure that even these good changes in me are as a result of my practice of meditation or due to my age . I often I get restless, worried and scared and still pursuing making money. I wonder sometimes that beneath a layer I remain same young person who was concerned about his future. I believe intellectually that I am chasing a mirage and many a time I feel tired and hopeless. I wonder what is this life after all? After accumulating wealth, comforts, status and family, inside me I remain the same……. Worried and disturbed. Don’t know what to do

Hi. thank you for the comment. This is something that I have heard before. There are different ways to come at this depending on how you practice. It could be that seeking is at the root. It could be that you do not REALLY want to know truth, but rather want something out of it. It could be that there is doubt so the practice is off and on. Ultimately, it may be helpful to really look deeply at what is most important to you. Is it TRUTH just for truths sake?

The road I walked started differently. I was quite content with my personality and circumstances, but I was aware of self-imposed conversions. I yearned not so much for "enlightenment" as for insight. The quest began with knowledge and the discovery that thinking alone was not the solution. Through meditation and silence practice and also focusing attention on what needed to be done, I gained insight into my doings. Yes, I certainly tried to become wiser, but there came a time when I let go of that too. It started with the abandonment of all teachings, from Plato to Gurdjieff. All the books remained in the cupboard except the Asthavakra Samhita and the words of Ramana. The search was valuable because it gives insight into thinking, feeling and acting and the eternal play of the ego. There comes a time when you know that you are not the ego, but that you have more than one! It is the difference between 'to be' and 'to have'.

Great question. I would listen to my three marks of existence, talk, and then all five talks on the five aggregates. I would then use that as a framework for looking to see if you can find an independent separate self anywhere within the aggregates. You would also be looking to see if anything has a lasting permanent existence and see how you cause suffering in your own life by clinging to the pleasant and pushing away the unpleasant. Let me know if that is enough guidance or if you want some more.

Just to let you know, I found this video highly interesting. I have watched quite a few videos on so called awakening, spirituality, meditation, Buddhism, religion, laws of attraction etc etc, always believing that some day I will click on the right one and gain some superior knowledge/answer. The more I watch these kind of videos, the more I seem to go round and round in circles. I have got to the point recently, where I feel like giving up, because I feel like I am never going to find the answers I ‘seek’. Your video kind of answered how I feel and perhaps by giving the self nothing to seek anymore, it doesn’t know what to do, so maybe I am entering a new phase and I (perhaps foolishly) await to see what happens next. I still strive to be the best person I can be, I’m still interested in spiritual things, but have less expectations. I have saved your video to watch again, I struggle to digest even the simplest thoughts sometimes, but your video explained things very well. Any further tips would be appreciated and I wish you and anyone else who has come across this video all the best on your journey, thank you.😊

I very much agree, and I'm happy to hear this from someone other than my self, as I begun to think it was my lazy self creating excuses to avoid putting in more work.
My experience, if anyone cares to read, is as follows: I've always been into sincretism, finding the use of the best parts from diffrent traditions, much better than following a single one, with all its pros, but also its very own problems, so you can say my path was chaotic to begin with, but for my rebellious self it was, or rather, is, just fine. I've also always been attracted to shamanism from a very young age, trying lsd the first time at 13 years old, an experience that I still fondly remember as wonderfully eye opening. Ive always looked at psychotropic substances as a gift from nature, psylocibin, dmt, peyote etc.. are all keys opening diffrent doors, allowing you to explore both your subconscious and what we call reality, temporarily lifting the veil of Maya. It might sound like nonsense to many people, but like most things, you can't judge things you have no knowledge of or no experience with, besides, try to tell it's nonsense to every tribe on earth that has been using psychoactive plants in initiation rituals and/or medicine for the past couple thousand years, at least, and see how that goes. But enough of it, I'm not trying to sell "substances" to anyone here, I simply want to share my experiences. So, with a mix of diffrent philosophies, such as Quabbalah, Jainism, Anthroposophy, quite a lot of it, and a few others, mixed every now and then with the use of whatever psychoactive substance happened to find its way to me, I'm humbly gonna say that I definitely reached what Gnostics called the Christ within, the Buddha state of consciousness or however one wants to call it, with the beuty of synchronicity that comes "free" with it and so on. But just like Dr. Mindful is saying, it is not a permanent state, it could be, but let's put it this way, would you climb a mountain only to then live at its peak forever? Is it even feasible? Or it's just a wonderful experience which main goal is to humble us? Just like climbing a mountain is after all, it's quite a good analogy in fact, and I'm inclined to think so, particularly after experiencing it diffrent times.
There is also a negative side of it, or at least there is for me, in the form of being left with more questions than I got answers, such as: did I really made any real progress in my spiritual journey? Or I simply deluded myself into believing I did? This question in particular led me to finding answers I wasn't prepared to get (by crossing over a completely diffrent field of study), which deeply scared me, and no, not under the influence, that is a really small part of my journey, probably between 5% and 10%, so I was completely lucid when I got scared out of my body, and I won't go into detail with it as it's not really important. What this experience led to, is what this video is about, I started to feel the only real way to make progress is by altogether stopping to try making progress, taking a seat in the back and for a change be a passenger, leaving control, or the illusion of control, back to Nature and the Universe, listening to what They have to tell me, when They want to tell me, rather than forcing answers, progress, or again, the illusion of it.
Being alone in this journey, as one should be, it's very hard to get confirmation on one's thought processes, and even though I ended up reading about this state of mind in Buddhist literature, it is always nice to hear it from someone with similar life experiences. Truth is, we'll never know until we die I guess, but you can be sure of one thing, either as a passenger or as a driver, I'll do everything in my power to break the cycle, as to me, the real nightmare is the idea of having my memory wiped clean just to start over again..

Enlightenment can happen and it is no illusion. But couldn´t happen, for people who seek it for their ego, it is a wrong path. Just people with a childlike mindset, which has no knowledge (what is the forbitten fruit in bible) and a lot of curiosity (what is conciousness and awareness) will find it. Only than the truth can unfold. The truth is the real knowledge. Not the knowledge by itself, it could be right or wrong in this case.
The earth is created as a place to grow your mind. It is designed to have issues. Without these the character wouldn´t learn. Every solved problem is a step of growing.

@@cthrewu2958 it's all lies including what you've just said, why be so attached to these silly stories? You think of yourself as a character and an ego and so you suffer, another story. The fact that you want to be free is the very reason you arent. Stop taking yourself so seriously, you don't exist in the way you think you do, you confuse your ID for your very self, you believe in the symbols that represent you and never notice the truth of your being. Who you think you are is just that... who you THINK you are, that isn't who you really are, no thought will ever be any more than a thought so instead of focusing on what you THINK about life just focus on life as it is, no need to define it and package it into labels and stories, you're only deceiving yourself.

In the effort of seeking Self Realization (we get confused when we use Enlightenment), one evolves. The spirit of seeking has to come from within, whatever influences you. This effort pays off in a handling life much better than without seeking. Well if one can be happy all the time, if one can evolve without any seeking, then that sounds good. One has to make their own choice. For sure you will stop listening to the wise (or the enlightened), when you accept this is an illusion. The Buddha sought answers, he was not seeking enlightenment; it is not a degree; it is a Byproduct if it happens. Start early in life , seek the right people like Ekhart and Rupert etc.

The idea about obtaining enlightenment, presented at the start of the material, doesn't distinguish itself too much from the idea of redemption (or at least penitence) , so I don't get it how the spiritualists came up with that in a way that is supposed to be different from religion.

    • @drmindfulness
      @drmindfulness  Рік тому +1

Thank you for the comment. The notion of redemption that is the cornerstone in many religions, including Judaism, Christianity and Islam is not dissimilar to enlightenment or awakening as conceived in Buddhism or Hinduism. All these words point to the idea that we live in the illusion that we are separate from God or the divine. Our engagement with the different spiritual traditions is focused seeing that this is an illusion and seeing our true nature - that we are one with God or the Absolute.

There is no love without deed, but "awakened" people live solely by that grain of aparent "love". And also, they find quick excuses for their desire to avoid people at times, blaming the others for giving bad vibes (which actually reflect their own vibe to be honest).

Do you just basically accept that, personally, this can not be your last incarnation; or perhaps there is no way to know for sure, so it's best to rather lighten up and better appreciate the moment @ hand? I was seriously contemplating monkhood in this world constantly growing more and more evil🙈🙉🙊and stupider🤪all around me. It is heartbreaking; I honestly would appreciate an environment that just simply makes sense, and it appears as though a monastery might make the most...... No way to know about rebirth. Moving to a monastery is OK, but it’s important to be clear about your motivation or intentions. If you’re going there to escape in the relative reality that this is counterproductive. If you’re going because there’s a deep aspiration for truth, than it can be very helpful. Watch my video on the two truths for some clarity on why there’s injustice in the world but it is perfect just the way it is.

Dear reader, at the outset of this piece I would like to state that I have great faith in mankind, I believe that all of mankind in their hearts of hearts are decent.
That said mankind is in a terrible mess!
    So what is the solution?
First we have to know the problems, and then know the source of the problem
So on the problem side let's start at home.
    Domestic violence against women!
    Divorce.
    Suicide.
Drug addiction both prescription, and illegal.
    Homelessness.
    House rental unaffordability.
    Mortgage unaffordability.
Lack of respect for indigenous people, and their culture.
Wars with all the devastation they cause.
    Two hundred million stateless refugees.
    Millions dying from starvation.
Millions working for below subsistence wages.
Millions of people who feel disenfranchised who feel betrayed.
Right wing dictators with calcified minds.
Left wing dictators with calcified minds.
Well meaning philosophers whose philosophies have calcified into ideologies.
Global warming with all of its consequences, floods, drought etc etc.
All of these things have one source, and that is state of mind! Or should I say a state of mind that does not allow for a person to experience emotional ease.
Now we know the source, the question is what to do?
Well we are so far down the rabbit hole we must deal with the symptoms, and at the same time deal with the source, or the lack of quality of the source i.e. our thinking.
As things stand people are victims of circumstance, but the problem is that people don't even see that.
Most people see life as something that just happens to them, and do not question that, so their experience of life is a sort of outside in experience, and that they have no hand act or part in determining the quality of their experience of their reality.
A question has to be asked at this point are people victims of circumstance or are they innocent victims of their unconscious thinking?
Does this have to be the way?
    No!
Can we improve the quality of our lives?
    Yes!
    How?
By improving the quality of our state of mind.
So how do we do that?
Start by asking this pertantent question of ourselves such as, if it were not for the faculty of mind would I be having this experience I call my life?
Having answered that question in the affirmative, no I would not be having this experience I call life, ask yourself this question! Am I up for claiming ownership of my experience of my life?
Am I up for taking responsibility for my life?
What is the advantage of this?
Well it shifts a person from a position of a victim of circumstance to an active participant in their own lives.
So what is the advantage in any of that?
Well it gets one out of the blame game!
It also prevents one from slipping into bitterness, and begrudgery.
Which in of itself leads to emotional ease,
And that allows for a kinder gentler experience of life.
That in turn allows us to be more present to our own emotional well-being, and by default more present to the emotional well-being of others.
This is at the heart of building local communities, and global communities, it's as simple as people looking out for each other.
This is what will bring about transformation
and with that transformation there will come a state of mind whereby people will live in contentment.
This will mean people's sense of identity will not be linked to what they are, ie their possessions or status in life, instead their lives will be imbued with a feeling of gratitude for life for life's sake.
Now please do not misunderstand me even in an enlightened state people will still run to gauntlet of human emotion.
So in times of joy there will be laughter, and in times of sorrow there will be tears.
What I am writing about is not denial of human emotion, it is about understanding it, and embracing it by owning it, and taking responsibility for it.
With a little understanding, and a little kindness born of that understanding we can all live peacefully in the cradle of humanism.
    Kind regards.
    Eamonn Leonard.

And this is because… it’s only gonna throw more ATTENTION its way, whether U feel great, or fu#ked up! 🌎🧘🏾💀💯🤷🏾‍♂️😬
They only way to catch a break from this perpetual state of ontological affairs is somehow become present to it and chuckle 😂, while surrendering and acknowledging your own silliness.
