  • On this week's episode of 4th&1, Cam Newton delves into the shocking story of Australian hockey player Matthew Dawson, who amputated a finger to compete in the Paris Olympics. Cam offers a balanced perspective, recognizing both the remarkable commitment and the potential risks involved in pursuing Olympic glory at such a high personal cost.

    My pops put me on game;
    Ronnie Lott made the choice to amputate part of his finger back in the day, 1986. Didn’t want to deal with a longer recovery process.

    Cam is a quarterback, he needs his fingers to grip.

    I had my finger crushed at work and decided to have it amputated because it was way less recovery time!

    What is going on in Australia with the crazy athletes they sent? Dude gets a finger chopped off to play hockey and, of course, the numnuts "breakdancer". I'll never understand some people's thought process.

      I luckily made it through high school and college ball with no serious injuries, but I'd do the same damn thing.
