This song feels like a grower. Felt underwhelmed at first listen. Further listens got me hooked and I'm loving the Starset vibes. Seems the new album is going to be the experimental one that heavy bands go for when they feel like branching out and I'm loving the variation between the 4 songs released so far

It definitely is one of those albums that feels hugely theatrical. A good album if you judge it for what they are going for.

I think they´re trying to do something new for them, because let´s be honest, the last 3 albums could be part 1, 2, 3, you can say that hereafter and gone with the wind are from the same album, the downside of the las 3 singles, it´s like they´re missing something more, more power
I'd say good for them for experimenting. I'm sure that their old style reminds them to much of his brother. It hurts that everything reminds them of him.
So right now they're trying to stray as far away from it as they can I guess
I feel like is going to be more of a transition album so i don't expect much from it, but if they learn something from this release and use it to upgrade their future albuns I'll start to love this band a lot more, they are one of my favorite bands and i don't think they have something bad about them, but if i were to make a criticism is that they made the same type of songs and didn't evolve (I'm sorry about the english, I'm brazilian)
Sadly it just feels like the emotion is lacking from what they are releasing lately. That last album was one of the most emotional albums i have ever heard (for good reason) but this...feels generic. Not bad because its Architects but not great

Dan really brought his drumming to another level on this album. His drum work is insane and really shines here, I feel.

So far this album is like a mix of of their here and now and daybreaker albums with a mix of sams modern vocal skill. I like :)

If you like ERRA, go listen to Impulse and especially Augment. Two of the greatest metalcore albums of all time and Augment is my personal favorite.

I thought the drums were gonna stay on the back beat of in the chorus. The switch to half time was amazing and it still plays off the back beat to keep you guessing.
This is definitely a different than what I was expecting. I just absolutely love Dead Butterflies and Animals. Been a fan for a long time I like their new direction and I thought that I know where they are headed after those first three songs. But this one caught me off guard. Can´t wait to listen to it as a whole and hopefully sooner than later also live. Thank you for your thoughts, Nik and I get, that it might feel disappointing, it did to me aswell at first but after more listens I´m more confused than anything.
For those wanting 'classic' Architects and complaining about them sounding like (which I almost entirely disagree with) BMTH and going in a radio friendly direction, they have an entire back catalogue of albums which epitomise metalcore and that 'Architects' sound we've all come to know and love.
If they released another 'All Our Gods...' or 'Holy Hell', I'm sure people would be complaining about it saying it's been done before. They've mastered that sound, and now they're venturing out and experimenting with something new and, in my opinion, they're absolutely killing it.
Can't wait for the new album, loved all the singles so far in spite of how different they are to one another and their old stuff, let's hope for even more bangers when it releases!
the other singles were not bmth like I would argue, but this track here sounds like a that's the spirit B-side, at least to me
There's experimenting, which can be great and liberating for a band, but there are aspects of their original sound that should permeate through their music. But that's just my opinion.
People are allowed to not like a "new direction" you don't have to like something just because you liked previous work.
Personally, I think these songs will come to life when played live. They aren't my favourites but I'm still enjoying them
I see this as dumbing down their sound to be a cookie cutter Sirius Octane hard rock band. They get no points for 'experimentation' from me when when the songwriting is so damn lazy and generic.
Feels kinda generic to me honestly a little disappointed. Architects with Tom was insanely aggressive and technical, while I have no issue with changing direction I feel like this is a step backwards rather than new and refreshing
Exactly this. Architects was known for their massive (sometimes complex) riffs and progressive nature. All those elements are out of the window on this album and I hate it.
I think THIS song was a little more generic cause it's probably the first of the album... It has to introduce you to what's coming

I love them but coming off the back of Doomsday I feel it's missing something.
Animals and Black Lungs absolutely bang. Dead Butterflies and this are definitely more accessible, arena rock style songs.

Hi guys, after reading “Architects is way too soft now” and “I want the old Architects back” I just wanted to say something as a musician by myself: please don’t judge any band for their music or for their decision to change the musical path. As an artist you always have to be afraid of getting outdated and there are so many social pressures. So an unrestrained force appears and tries to influence you in what you’re doing with your music. But actually you want to make music the people could dislike, especially fans of your older, different sounding songs. So it restricts you very much in your own freedom of choice. Is that your goal by judging bands for developing in another direction? I’m begging you to not be a part of these pressures…

Why should i be supportive of a change i dont enjoy?
The problem is, if they change their sound because it was getting outdated, they shouldn't change their sound to something that's already been done for more than 5 years. This style of metalcore is already on it's last legs. All of their latest singles sound like something out of That's The Spirit.
I agree, however, when bands change their sound and it sounds boring its a hard pass for me. BMTH did it really well, but Architects aren't doing it for me with this stuff.
If I don’t like something, I have every right to express what I think. Simple as that.

@@danielepriori7089the problem is not that it is soft. I liked dead butterflies, I like The Wasted Hymn, Unbeliver and most of the soft songs I have heard from them. My problem is that this is like a pop song. Autotuned, and just kinda souns plastic to me. It doesn't sound like Architects at all
@@leventegyorgydeak1300 I'd argue against the autotune accusation tbh, but as mentioned above, heartburn had a soft, pop feel to it, so they've definitely tried this before.
WSS and Architects on the same day, I'm happy.
I quite like the variety they're giving us so far with this album, certainly feel the evolution in their sound.

In very surprised you rated that as high as you did given how much you critiqued it honestly. Giving it at 3.75/5 puts it close to the new Erra stuff which (in my opinion) is in another league compared to this. Each to their own I guess

I thought animals was the worst song they've ever released 1/10. It's radio rock nonsense in my opinion. Black lungs is like a 5.5/6 out of 10. Dead butterflies is a 7.5, and this is probably almost as bad as Animals, if only because it literally just copies Starset (I love starset) and doesn't do a good job of it. Architects should be architects, not BMTH, not Three Days Grace, not Linkin Park, not Starset.

But on a more serious note, if You Are All You Need only manages a 4.25-4.5, this is nowhere NEAR a 3.75. Maybe 3/5 according to Nik's scale, if we're being diplomatic.

I absolutely 100% appreciate them branching out and experimenting with new sounds. And none of the new singles are bad honestly. Animals has been my favorite by far. But while none of them are bad, all of them just lack something for me, including Animals, I just can’t put my finger on what it is that it’s missing.
Erra and Architects releasing new material at the same time is a pretty fantastic start for 2021
