I do believe you’re right. if I ever fix mine I’ll come back with an update. Mine quit working back in the summer. I never really use the factory navigation. I use my app on my phone instead so it doesn’t make sense to spend money on repairing it. But I would like to fix it just in case I ever trade my car off. But I have always suspected that an automatic car wash damaged my antenna. We have one locally that’s just really rough and it got stuck right in the area of my gps antenna and I’ve always believed that was the cause.
Thank you for the video .. My 2015 GMC Sierra nav works most of the time, but then and 25/50 miles I'm out in woods .... If I stop and restart my truck it works again just fine ... Any Ideas what could be causing this and solutions for a fix ... Thank you
Sounds like your GPS antenna might be starting to go. Cause when they fully fail it shows like in the video here. Yours might be starting to go. It is the least expensive "fix" to try for an intermittant problem.
The problem is GM charging 107 bucks for a vin number specific update every year. Also all the physical little parts. 2021 moved to google maps which is better.
I took my Tahoe to a dealership in the Fox Valley and they wanted to tear my whole dash out. Please tell us what dealership you are at so I can schedule my Tahoe to get it fixed.
I am Summit Auto in FDL. We are not a GM dealership, but I would tell the dealership you are taking it to to try swapping out the GPS antenna if this is your exact issue. I habe typically found that if the GPS is in the wrong coordinates its the antenna. There is always a chance the radio is bad and the antenna might not fix this specific issue.
Hello my 2017 suburban radio is acting up. It changes stations by itself and goes from one screen to the next without someone touching the screen. Have you dealt with that issue?
You probably need a new radio. I have seen that on several Cadillacs. Same radio different brand. Actually had a Cadillac CTS do the exact same thing. Needed a new radio.
Any guesstimates on cost to change it all out? I’ve got the same jumping/beeping issue and the only way to stop it is to raise the screen box. I’m annoyed.
I would be interested in finding this out too. I had to replace my battery and after replacing I noticed my GPS said I was in Wisconsin, I'm actually in Alabama too. I've spent days searching the internet and found nothing. Most of the issues found were about blank screens etc. everything else in my car works fine, just not the GPS. There is an information button on the mylink screen, and I clicked it then clicked navigation, it shows no satellites found. My GPS screen also shows the word GPS in the upper right corner of the screen with a line through it. I've checked all my fuses, and they're all fine. It's really frustrating. I cringe when I think about going to the dealership, it always feels like they're taking you for as much money as they can get. Each time I've been to the dealership, even for regular maintenance service, I never get out of there for less than 1K, and it's usually closer to 2k. The main reason I quit going to the dealership, I have no faith that they aren't trying to rip me off. Sure would be nice to know if there was a fairly easy fix I could do myself.
I have an appointment with Hendrix in Birmingham in a couple weeks. They specialize in this kind of stuff. They came highly recommended. Hopefully it'll work

Hey- can you let me know what they found out after you get your gps looked at?@@AdamSapp-s5o
@@AdamSapp-s5o Hey, I was wondering if you got your vehicle in to check the issue and whether it turned out to be the antenna.
Just purchased a 2018 gmc & the nav only gives me a compass
Then it was not equipped with nav
@@Circleofcycles2so what does that mean? Mine also shows a compass. Can you add that feature?
Just dropped mine off and same thing GPS Is crossed out. Mine said i was in the middle of the Mediterranean sea 😂😂

My 2016 says I'm in BFE Canada, hahaha, and I'm by Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 😂 oh boy that a chunk I think I'm going to do it myself!
