McClellan had been having blackouts in sparring before the fight. Should never have been allowed to fight. I watched that fight live and McClellan was regularly blinking and shaking his head from about the 5th round onwards.
People point to Ben when it comes to Mclellan, make no mistake Mclellans trainers put him in that chair , not Nigel. Mclellan had been showing signs since before his previous fight in sparring, all camp for Ben he was twitching , getting caught in sprarring , seemed to be off from what they were used to seeing from the champ. They were greedy and pushed the kid to fight Nigel thinking it was gonna be a easy night. Shouldve knew better.
Followed Benn all his career from those early days on the TV midweek at 11pm through to his clashes with Eubank, Mc Clennan etc. Always loved the way he fought with the heart of a lion and he never gave up. This era of middleweight boxers was superb.
You covered his fight with McLellan in such a classy way. Tragic but he deserves credit for his performance. Apparently, Jackson had begun the brain injury McLellan ultimately developed. He was blinking strangely after that fight.
Yes I noticed that as well. He was breathing heavy, trying to get enough air into himself that he was having trouble doing, along with the blinking. I’ve heard that mentioned, that Jackson started off some sort of brain injury that was undiagnosed.
What a fighter Benn was in his prime.. I loved his feud with Eubank but the McClellan incident broke him, I think the guilt he felt took away his darkness forever!
He should have been proud. Making that monster a turnip is one of the greatest things Benn ever did. It prevented a lot of pain and suffering by stopping an evil man.

Rusty Reid yeah and I think the beginning of the end for G-Man was those brutal was with Julian Jackson. Despite winning the fights by knockout McClellan also took some insanely brutal shots from Jackson (who is one of the hardest punchers I’ve ever seen)

The G Man fight still strikes a nerve when I see footage of it.
"G Man" was filth. If ever a man deserved to spend the rest of his days sitting in the dark shitting himself, drooling and asking his own name its him.
Good Lord, what a left hook. He's definitely got that Tyson vibe.. scary dude.
But eubanks tho.. great fight.
He really does remind me of Mike Tyson, the way he moves.
KuttyJoe Absolutely nothing like Tyson, Mike used the gloves high peek a boo style that was schooled into him by Cus, and then unleashed awesome punches particularly the left hook. Benn was a slugger, who knew his power could overcome. I knew Watson would beat him, I knew Eubank would beat him, but he matured into a better boxer and the defeat of G-man was one of the greatest performances of any British boxers EVER.
Nigel Parker couldnt agree more he doesnt move like mike. Although 3:09 is a classic tyson movement
maybe but he looks like Leon Edwards?????
Now that I'm thinking Marvin Hagler was more like the middleweight Tyson.😒
It’s called peekaboo style
TheLate 80s and 90s had the most stacked Middleweight division ever,James Toney,Roy Jones,Mike Mccallum,Gerald Mcclellan,Julian Jackson,Chris Eubank,Nigel Benn,Steve Collins,Michael Watson,
Joe Calzaghe,Chris Pyatt,Glen Johnson,Montell Griffin and many more....Imagine these fighters were around today ohhhhh my......Nigel benn is a real fighter
If those fighters were around today? At their pique? Things would look a lot different to say the least, but you factor in how much boxing has changed? It’s really tough to say..
@@MidTierVillain Well if you look at each of the fighters mentioned they all brought something different to the table,i feel the only 2-3 middleweights of this era that would of survived 12 rounds with alot of these fighters are probably,GGG,BJS and Canelo,But one fighter that could of beat alot of these fighters was Dmitry Pirog because he had a style that mirrors alot of these fighters combined, but who knows it would of been a great fight every week with the promotional power boxing has now....Bless
Calzaghi was the best out of them all.
Life is Blessed that is true, That’ll be a boxing promoter/managements dream; Vegas would be on fire.. boxing fans would feel like comic book fans when Infinity Wars was in the theater.
I’d love to see Julius Jackson in his prime in this era, an Roy Jones too.. geezus that would be interesting.

It's amazing to think that the 3 hardest hitters of all time in the Middleweight division were all fighting at the same time. McLennan, Jackson and Benn.
I don't think there's every a bigger knock out waiting to happen than in the opening shot from Nigel and the beam pole😂
My Uncle Henry Wharton fought him for the WBC super middleweight title in 1994 and in the same year fought Chris Eubank. I have much respect for Nigel, he was definitely one of the "greats" of the division.
Henry was a very good boxer himself, he was in a great period of British middleweights
I remember Henry!
Henry Wharton was a solid fighter back in the day. I'm sure he dropped Benn in that fight too
Used to go watch Henry fight around Yorkshire when he was a young lad , the fights didn't last long though.
My personal favourite boxer of all time, never backed down from a scrap and always have everything in the ring, British grit at its finest.
I am a man and I love women so don't take this wrong, but Nigel Benn had the most perfectly sculpted shoulders in boxing. The shoulder muscles are where his power came from and it was epic. His left hook could take your head off as could his right cross or uppercut. Just a great boxer and a joy to watch. Too bad we in the US didn't get to see many of his fights.

I think Nigel Benn is the greatest non-heavyweight boxer from UK. Yes, there were many boxers who had slightly better records than him like Joe calzaghe, Carl froch, amir khan, Eubank, etc but he was the most offensive and entertaining among all of them. I was lucky to get tickets to one of Eubanks early fights in his home town, beating Dan Sherry.
McClellan had been having blackouts in sparring before the fight. Should never have been allowed to fight. I watched that fight live and McClellan was regularly blinking and shaking his head from about the 5th round onwards.
The damage was already done in McClellan fight.
The Mclellan destiny brings tears to my eyes. A talented warrior that life dealt an unfortunate blow. May God bless this brother.
It was brilliant what happened to McClellan!😆👌
He was a dog killer and deserved everything
Tyson, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank were at the top of their games when I was into boxing. Haven't been inspired to watch much since really.

Great decade for middleweight and super middle weights.
The irony of both him and Eubanks having a speech impediment is not lost on me
More of a common boxer's lisp than a true 'impediment'. Go tell Tyson he has a speech impediment - collect your front teeth on the way out.
