    Another great video! What software are you using for editing? Getting started on our own channel soon and have been messing around with a bunch, haven't found anything I LOVE yet.
    Thanks for the insight into the city - very interesting stuff and the food looked AWESOME! I can only imagine the dichotomy between tourist and US Citizen....interesting introspection at the end, makes you think.
    Cheers guys!

    Unfortunately, I feel like anywhere you go around the world with a backpack you're putting yourself out there, not just in Vietnam :/ It's an easy target because you can't see what's going on back there. I prefer a cross body bag when I'm overseas and wear it so it's in front of me or if I happen to have a backpack, I turn it and carry it in my front side lol.
    Oh and the whole patting and touching and saying how cute a kid is, is a asian thing in general haha they especially love white american kids and babies!
    My two friends spent a month in Vietnam and they fell in love and said they only spent like 600 euros max for the entire month!! I'll have to ask them what part they went to.

    Drink the soup 🍜? Ahhh I wouldn't recommend it drink the soup so far I know every Asian Restaurants would put seasoning on their food and soup after you finish eat the food and soup once about 5-15 minutes you'll realize your mouth become dry. What is your next trip Cory you mention on the video when you bought the backpack?

    The Central Post Office is erroneously attributed to Gustav Eiffel. He was, however, responsible for a number of bridges in Saigon and elsewhere in Vietnam.

    When I was little everyone (people from Asian cultures) wanted pictures of me because I was a little white haired, blue eyed kid with a wicked tan and they all were surprised by it. It's weird now to think that there is probably a picture of little me somewhere over there. I think the liking American/Caucasian thing is universal in Asian countries because it's not common to see kids with white hair and blue eyes for example, there. The same happened to my cousin in Africa. I'd love to visit Vietnam sometime but I would probably have to go with a tour because I don't think I could handle all of that on my own

    I'm sorry, I'm all for peace and love and global tourism, but when I see Vietnam videos all I can think of is "Wow, 58,000+ US soldiers died so today they can have McDonald's, Royal Caribbean cruise ships and cheap eats for tourists!". Just think how different things would be for you, Cory, if you were there 40+ years ago! I guess this is progress that you, as an US airman, can visit today and the only hassle is price gauging, scooter traffic and petty crime, but it all really makes you realize what a colossal waste that war was.

      I did see the end, and well said! Big thumbs up to Cory for his work!!
      I've seen other vloggers going all over Vietnam, and it struck me how many foreign junk food places there were everywhere. They seem to have more Western crap even than we have, at times, so it just makes it seem so sad that so many people lost their lives, on both sides. So pointless: a communist revolution so they can end up selling fake designer bags and eating Mickey D's?! To borrow a phrase from Gibson: "I do not want to go to"... Vietnam! But you're all welcome to. :)

    Yes, but you live in Okinawa a place where your grandfather's generation also fought a war.

    • @thelovelys4499
      @thelovelys4499  7 років тому

      +life with laurie yes, that is also true. It was a horrible war fought here. We talk about it often because of how intense the weather can get, and the jungle like conditions. We want to watch Hacksaw Ridge and then go visit it. As well as other historical places such as the Japanese naval underground headquarters.
      I grew up in Missouri and just up the road from my house was the site of the battle of wilsons creek, or the battle of oak hill, that took place during the civil war.
      We are so thankful for those who have fought in any war for us and our country.

      When we lived in Okinawa, our first house was off base and over by Kakazu Ridge. It was a regular thing to find unexploded ordinance. We also found a hand grenade on the beach once. We lived there in the late 60's.
