Go to 5:33 in the video where Paul states that the swing is now an oval. That was a breakthrough for me. I started visualizing and swinging like a oval on my downswing rather than a circle and I can not tell you what it did for my contact and distance. I’ve NEVER heard that description from any teaching pro except for Paul. Thank you Paul. You have simplified the swing in your videos. Unless you are a pro or top amateur you don’t need to look at ‘pros verses ams’ on other videos. It’s too technical and your probably not there.
Yes, this is a big part of understanding the swing. I talk about it here too: ua-cam.com/video/BzBgiUhyrB4/v-deo.html Simple is the key for sure. Too much confusion out there. If you don't understand it why would you do it.
Thanks for the support. I've been doing this for 30 years and get amazing results with my students. All people have to do is try it as you did. They too, will get amazing results.
HE's so good I am almost positive I can bring my score down 10 points. I normally shoot in the high 80's low 90s. I've already elminated my slice and am taking divots with irons reliably.
Me too mate, been working on the lag tips and the two axis tips, I averaged 106 but it all came together this weekend and I shot a 92 for the first time in a year.
Paul, this is the best Golf Tip I have ever seen. I been hacking away at this game for 20 years and never really knew what I was doing. You made it so simple to understand. I have had many "Cookie Cutter: Golf lesson rom many instructors, but they never could explain, the way you do, why I could not improve my Golf Swing. Thanks again.
This will make a huge difference to your swing. You will finally start to feel the power you need. Once you get your body working just think of your wrists hinging and rehinging. This arm unit is connected to the body. You get the power through loose wrists. It's that simple.
Thank you Paul!!! I watched 2 of your tips (natural grip and how to fix fat shots). Improved from the first ball the next day! I can not believe you post all these tips and classes for FREE! You are an amazing coach! Thank you so much and definitely recommending your channel to all my golf friends!!! Keep this amazing channel going!
Thank you for the kind words and support. I do give a lot away. Just trying to make people play better then word gets out and people find me. Thank you for your promo to others. I appreciate it.
I've watched a lot of youtube videos for a few years now and still not hitting the way i wanted to. Almost made me give up on golf. Then I found your channel couple months ago and now Im starting to see improvements in my swing. Thank you so much! You really made me enjoy golf more by "swinging less".
That's great. I just see it and say it differently. Keep it simple. Coil ... uncoil. Hinge ... rehinge. You are not trying to hit the ball in any way with the arms. Hit it with the legs and hips and you've got it.
This tip in particular is literally game-changing! When I started getting the swing dialed in, it felt like I didn't even hit the ball--it was that effortless. And the ball goes forever! I'm not ready to try this in my men's league yet, but I will soon. Shots are way more consistent too. I still do dumb things like top the ball and not turn my wrists over, but I am so much more consistent now. Thank you Paul!
So glad you liked this one. This is so much easier to swing this way vs. this tilted swing these kids seem to be doing. Sounds like you are getting it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support. Simple is the key. I think people have forgotten that. I will just keep doing what I do and keep getting the results I get.
Paul you are a freaking genius!!!! I have been playing golf for a couple years now. First year I practiced a lot and took several lessons with pro teachers and I learned a few things here and there but never had a really solid golf swing. I rarely ever took divots and didn’t have luck distance, very inconsistent. I watched your video about how to take divots by leaving your arms super loose and just rotate your body. I took that knowledge and just got back from the golf range and I have never hit as straight or as far, it was incredible and so easy and I have no back pain like I always did before. I found I was swinging with my arms before. Now I just leave my arms out of and just rotate my body and voila it’s so simple! Thank you very much!
That's great. So glad you tried it and are seeing results. Great feeling when you get it. It's just a different way to do it. People just have to it (not for just 3 balls) like you did. If so, they can get amazing results too!
Your videos have significantly improved my game. Ever since I watched how to square the club consistently, I have managed to swing easier and not force hitting the ball. Looking forward to more great content.
Not being a golf science guy, I've spent 20 years watching golf videos telling me how to coil, use my core, anchor the right knee without telling me that the arms should remain loose! So I've spent those 20 years doing all those things only to hit from the top yet continue with cramped up arms, early extending, still chicken winging & still hitting it off the toe. Why do all these online tutors not tell the average golfer that the body turn is important but not tell them the role of the arms? I can tell you Paul, you are the only person I've seen online that teaches us amateur/part time golfers how to get distance, solid ball striking and make golf fun again. Thank you mate!
You're welcome. Glad you are improving. I see the swing differently because my teaching is based on Iron Byron (theirs is not). The arm on the machine is powerless. In no way does it move on it's own. So if it's powerless and the machine was modeled after Byron Nelson shouldn't our arms be powerless too. This was the missing piece I search 10 years for. Watch this one: ua-cam.com/video/jjiXrGLkqj0/v-deo.html
After a 15 year layoff and a 9 handicap, it was like starting over the last couple years. Tried everything on UA-cam from Stack & Tilt to Vertical Swing and everything in between. Nothing worked, just got more confused and used my arms more and more. After a few hours hitting into my net with the Body Swing it's all come back together. 90 last few times out which is a 10-15 stroke improvement. Fat shots gone. Very few thin shots. Easy, slow low effort swing - amazing results. Just need to dial some things in and I'll be low 80s easily. Thank you Paul!
So glad you found me. I too have been there before myself. Not fun when you don't know what to work on. Already seeing improvement so you are on the right track. Just take it one step at a time and build the swing. A great swing hits great shots.
I got the Body Swing videos a while ago, but have had real trouble letting myself relax in my swing. The urge to hit that ball is STRONG. Well, I'm finally starting to loosen up and just shot one of my best rounds playing an executive course to work on my short game (Durango Hills for Paul and anyone else who might know the area). Not only did I have less pain, but shot a +7 65! The more it clicks and the more I relax, the better it gets. The tips are great and videos really help build a swing from the ground up.
You are the man Paul! Your effortless golf swing technique reminds me of classic baseball players swing. Big power with less effort. This is coming from an ex baseball player. I started golfing in my 30's back then I didn't realize I was using a body swing. I broke 100 in 2 weeks, broke 90 in 4 weeks. I thought I had it figured out! Silly me decides to hang up the clubs thinking I will never forget this swing. Fast forward to my 40's I decide to pick up the game again. Boy am I terrible! I almost just gave up. I seen a few of your videos and something just clicked in my head. You my man made golf fun for me again! Thank you Sir! Again you are the man!
So glad you got back into it again and you are relating it to baseball. They are the same moves but in golf it's like hitting the ball over center field every time so it has to be very precise. Loose wrists. Body is the power source. You might want to watch this one. I give another baseball reference: ua-cam.com/video/fEvuSsSdo5g/v-deo.html
Yeah, move your head then let me know how you do. You will never keep it still ever again. Mind boggling they keep telling people to do this yet when you watch pros their heads move.
My man Paul! I was so excited to try this out and watched this this morning and then went to the range this afternoon. The missing link. I hit the longest straightest irons, woods and especially drivers consistently it was truly a miraculous day for me. This one simple instruction from Paul is something no one, no teacher or video on You Tube has ever explained so easily and I am so pumped. This 2 axis head move is what has kept me down for the past 20 years from being able to unleash my true swing power and speed. I was able to kick up my swing speed considerably today and still it was straight and longer than ever. Paul you are a Godsend. I hope to meet you in person one day soon.
Very good. I love hearing it. Just like I said in the tip you will feel like you have a ton of power. Just imagine where you take your game from here. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. So glad you are doing well. Keep it simple. Body is the power source not the arms. I just taught a gentleman who has lived in Thailand for 30 years. He invited me to come there. Not sure I will make it but he said it's great. Maybe someday I will get there.
I’ve been working on all your lag tips and though it’s taken a few rounds to maintain consistency, this weekend the penny seemed to drop and I shot 92, my lowest card in more then a year. Im finding more fairways now and with my new improved iron play I have only one new issue which is over shooting the greens with my 2nd shot as I’m now achieving longer straighter irons. Thanks Paul these tips truly do work.
Glad you have been working on it and seeing results. 80's are in the very near future. Once you get used to your new distances you will trust that you can get it there and choose the right club. Keep up the good work.
The left eye dominate and Nicklaus head move is great for helping with the head movement. That shift and then turning the hips left on the downswing helped my consistency so much, thank you Paul. I am hoping that my wife will let me buy your Bodyswing vids for Fathers Day, we will see lol.
I do like that Nicklaus head move. I've tried it. So glad you got the hips moving. Hitting with the lower body body is the key for sure. Thank you in advance for the support. Great father's day gift.
Hi Paul. I've just purchased your "Body Swing" package and I'm currently working my way through it. I've just watched this video for the first time and it totally explains why I'm still hitting high weak slices , fades and pulled shots, especially with driver! Just checked my swing in a mirror and I've been keeping my head too still, reverse pivoting without realising it and coming over the top as a consequence! I can manage the relaxed arms swing just fine but couldn't work out why my ball striking wasn't improving. This video has been a bit of a "Lightbulb moment"! Cheers
Thanks for your support. I truly appreciate it. Amazing you actually went through it and found the "How To Fix Your Own Swing" chapter. Typically people keep asking me "why" they hit whatever shot when it's in my products. Yes, you need to move your head. This is vital. Keep it still and you will not do a rotational swing plus you will hit with the arms sending it over the top. Once you get the head moving you feel like you have a ton of weight you can use to fire the lower body. Do that you will hit it way longer (and straighter).
Hi Paul, I tried and tried your teaching. But I think I have it now. Wow, it is amazing. My last round I finished birdie, eagle, par, par. A very first for me. I did understand your teaching, but could not comprehend it really. I am looking forward to my next round. Many thanks
Well, I do try to keep it super simple. You just had to give up trying to whack at it with your arms. Turn the arms off and you need another power source (legs and hips). Problem is, people are stubborn and want to keep doing something that doesn't work. Yes, not hitting with arms is different. The sooner you turn them off the faster you can get using your body. Sounds like you have it now so keep doing it.
As I've been learning to incorporate the lean into my swing, I've discovered what works for me is think of a relationship, for lack of a better term, between my trailing elbow and trailing hip. As my right elbow reconnects with my body on the downswing, my hip is turning with the motion of my elbow. Not only does this get the lean caused by the power of my legs and hips firing, but it allows better feel of the centrifugal force caused by the club head moving from in to out. I can feel the weight of the club moving around my body instead of down from the shoulders. It also allows me to map the release point of different iron lengths. Shorter irons further back, longer irons and fairway woods further forward. But most importantly, it also forces a more relaxed and slower swing. Too fast and the arms and wrists begin to lock up, the feeling of unity disappears. The hip and elbow are not connected and the club ceases to feel like a controlled pendulum. My ball striking and accuracy are improving every time I practice or play now. Look what you've done to me, Paul!
No doubt. I almost fell asleep reading that cause it seemed like you were saying the right things. When people start to say the right things they are on track. Just got to keep doing it now. Big things coming for you in the near future.
Love this tip. Just left the range. Hit it pretty well, but my pull hooks were definitely in play. Right hip was a little sore as well. This feels so much better!
The pull hooks are the arms moving first. You can turn them off more or fire the hips a little quicker and you will hit it straight. Sore hip is telling me you are trying just didn't get it every time. Keep at it.
@@paulwilsongolf Thank you so much for the detailed response! I have weird question. Working on my short pitches and chips, I have recently learned how to put draw and fade spin on the ball. I feel like I can curve it in around the hole. First, is this too advanced for a 14 handicap? Second, how useful is it to know this? Third, does it translate to full swings in your opinion? Love all your content! Keep it up!
You are putting draw and fade spin on pitches and chips? I'm not even sure how you are doing that or why? Never heard of anyone pro or am that does that. I think you are making it too complicated.
Hi Paul- really enjoy your videos. Bought yr bk eons ago but, alas, have fallen into temptation and tinkered with just about every known technique out there in UA-cam land. So many instructors seem to emphasis the golfswingtakeaway is a tilt not a turn. Wow! Of course, I just had to try this, making sure my head remained still as I started the takeaway, tilting not turning the shoulders. However, not a gd idea and my search continues right back to you. My apologies for doubting you in the first place and always looking for the quick fix. Back to the drawing board. Will definitely stick with yr rotational swing this time.
Thanks so much. I too tinkered many years ago. For 10 years, this got me nowhere. Pick a method and stick with it. As for the tilt, you are already tilted so why would you tilt more? ua-cam.com/video/TmjVMTzGRrU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/wKkJmtCa6Dw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/5vq92sBQyU4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/j1mS5Ku8Q10/v-deo.html
Thank you for this video, Mr. Wilson - your videos are immensely informative. If I may suggest an edit that will help elucidate the two axes: in the slow motion portion, LEAVE the graphic of the first axis on screen and ADD the second axis at the follow through, so the viewer can see exactly where one would load their weight for each and the resulting transition.
Great tip Paul, been watching your videos for a while but this is helping things start to click! Quick question, when you are at the top of your backswing do you feel any stretching in your lead arm? Or only in your body? I am wondering whether I am overdoing the backswing...
Very good. Over the top is not fun. Hello Paul, I'm left handed and have watched this video and the one to free up the arms and wrist. Now I seem to be pulling the ball with my irons way right and making great contact with the ball. My driver is perfect. Thoughts on why I'm doing this with my irons. Thanks for all the videos they really help.
Probably trying to hit down a little with them or tilted too much. Check your set up so your not too step then start the lower body first. If the lower moves first before the arms you will hit them dead straight. ua-cam.com/video/gJOq_LO6oRg/v-deo.html
That is because you are just unwinding from the top. You need the tilt: ua-cam.com/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/p6YWiBPnQqI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/D1KL7G8Vmro/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/2cPM_FSoHNM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/OHSciOQ15AE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/v-deo.html (secret tip)
Thanks a bunch Paul; Head position is something Ive been confused about for a while and this axises explanation goes real well. Do you ever do video assessments of swings?
Great to hear! This will dramatically change your game. Will take a bit of work but once you get it you will see the difference and be amazed. I do live video coaching on my app CoachLink. People who try it love it. You can learn more here: bodyswing.com/coachlink
Unbelievable, last week, driver 240 best shot, today averaging 250, best shot 278. All because I’m going body first, the swing feels so much more powerful and is also more accurate, can’t believe it, thankyou thankyou thankyou.
Great. Getting close to breaking 80. Need to keep getting close to it then you will jump the hurdle. Go out with no expectations. Warm up on the range just warming up not even watching the ball. Hit about 25-30 shots and don't care where they go. If you hit it great on the range it will be a disaster on the course (expectations too high). So just warm up out there. Hit some chips and putts then play. Keep this one in mind too: ua-cam.com/video/cNhIyhi136E/v-deo.html
Been using your swing and it has been doing wonders for me! Although I have problems with it when the lie is downwards, meaning when the left foot below the right. How do you hit these shots, Paul? Kasper
Glad you are doing well. Here are a couple tips I did on uneven lies on my other channel: ua-cam.com/video/jEn8TIP4nYM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/NLQsQSZagF4/v-deo.html
Good swing. Little hands early in the takeaway. He needs to be a little deeper at 3/4 back. Slightly laid of and bowed at the top. Great tempo though. Great ball striker but I would fix it. I could see you losing it under pressure with that swing.
Great tip Paul ! Question; when I try to keep my head behind the ball til impact, I tend to let my body lift upward as I rotate through, thus topping it. Any suggestions on how to maintain correct head posture and avoid topping ?
Thanks. You slowly increase the lower body. You can also hook about 10 in a row first. If you can do this you release too early. Now, you can start firing the lower way harder until you hit it straight.
Paul, is the ball position for the different irons the same with this swing? With this angle on the downswing I would imagine it would change the amount of ball compression? I’m eager to try this swing at my next range session. Thank you for the video.
Paul, I tried this at the range today and found that with leaning back on the downswing like you mention, I either hit the ground early or top the ball.
It's new and you are not good at it. Like anything it takes some work. So keep at it. ua-cam.com/video/UwynwFBldv4/v-deo.html and topping you are swinging too hard and trying something new so of course you are going to look up. Focus on the new thing not the result. Get the new thing ... you get the result.
I don't have many at the moment. I might do some in the future. Ball off back instep. 3-4 knuckle grip. Weight on forward foot. Feel like you are taking it steep. Simple knock down shot.
I’ve been practicing loose wrists. The question I have is how do you know if your swinging with your arms vs the lower body? When I swing faster, I’m not sure if it’s me turning my hips faster or me swinging my arms faster. Please help. Enjoy all your videos. Thanks
Paul, terrific videos. Your logic here mostly makes sense but the only part I don't quite get is why the head has to move back 3-5 inches to begin with. I agree that the spine shouldn't angle forward in relation to the right leg (reverse pivot) but why can't the head stay where it is at address, so long as the right leg and spine are roughly in line on the back turn? To me it seems that you would be better braced to initiate a powerful leg drive. No?
Hey! After struggling with consistency for as long as i can remember, i stumbled upon your videos. I usually shoot in the mid to low 90s and occasionally high 80s. I binged watched some of your videos yesterday and applied them to the range today. It felt so different and awesome and after a short time was hitting very pure shots, especially with my 7 iron. What i did struggle with still was hitting some thin shots, much more so when switching to a pitching wedge/sand wedge, so the smaller clubs. Any tips on why this could be happening? Thanks so much!
You were probably just coming out of them a little. The are shorter and you were trying to stand up a little. Anytime you hit thin, topped or sliced shots it's telling you that you are swinging too hard. So slow down and little and relax the arms a little more. You can work on this too: ua-cam.com/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/v-deo.html
@@paulwilsongolf Perfect. Can’t wait to keep at it on the range. I was amazed already with one session!! One last question, i couldn’t find any videos explaining how to hit shots lets say from 100 yards in. Or like a 20 yard shot, anything longer than greenside chips. Could you explain that or direct me to a video? Thanks so much
Glad you are doing well. This is what I want to hear. I don't have any pitching videos posted yet. I all about how much do I give away. I have a membership site with people paying for my tips so it's not really fair to give it all away: Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN ua-cam.com/video/BZD0_jPL8ks/v-deo.html
Thanks so much! I watched one of your podcasts/livestreams. Just got to keep doing it and build it. Takes time and effort but once you can build it up it's a lot of fun.
Sorry, I don't have one specifically on that. This should cover it though: ua-cam.com/video/PZkBP21bPJU/v-deo.html Also, I would think you have a chicken wing. So here you go: ua-cam.com/video/DkD29OArc88/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/7o65z_pd28s/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/u2SktWUESaA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Er3LpqxOAaM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/aaoAY3wQxMw/v-deo.html
Question Paul; once one has a really really good feel for this swing and feels they have made the transition to a lower body being in charge and have it down pretty good, what are good drills/exercises to start "ramping it up" and gaining more distance? I feel like I have a good handle on this swing but now would like to go about getting a little more distance out of it. I would imagine anything that strengthens the hips or core would be good but what suggestions (drills or exercises) do you have for someone who feels like they have this down pretty well but is looking to take it up a level? Thanks
To get more distance you need to understand that there is timing between the release and body rotation. If you only speed up the body of course you're going to blow it right. So the first thing you need to do is roll the wrists from the top and hit 10 hooks in a row. This speed up the release. Now you can drive the lower harder to straighten it out. If you blow it right do it again. Do this but early: ua-cam.com/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/v-deo.html Here are the drills (wrists): ua-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/sZ2-dqOausU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/jEWe9Gaoqxo/v-deo.html Remember to roll it from the top to get it hooking. Forget direction. You only care about the spin. Trigger: ua-cam.com/video/RdphthCQ9VM/v-deo.html Do this daily: ua-cam.com/video/x1NehGi8tyI/v-deo.html Once you can hit 10 in a row start firing the lower body. This is what you are thinking about to start down. You feel still feel the release but you are not thinking about it. I would also work on lag to make sure you have some: ua-cam.com/video/syZXIyJNH-Y/v-deo.html
I'd been really struggling with the fundamentals you teach, but I started to hit some nice shots with my 7 iron today at the range. Only issue is to keep the timing, I have to use less turn and a shorter backswing which is only giving me around 110 yards. Any advice to get my timing right on a full swing?
Get every ball hooking first. If so, your wrist are hinging and rehinging plus you would be delofting the club the allowing you to hit long shots but they would be pulled. The way I see this is the person doing half right instead of hitting the ball all over the place. Once you can hook 10 in a row you remember this feeling of the wrists as you start to focus on firing your lower body to hit the shot. Watch your ball. Fire a little legs and it will start less left. Keep firing until you hit it dead straight. If you blow it right then slow down the legs. So use the ball as a guide. It will tell you exactly what to do. Wrist release drills. ua-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/sZ2-dqOausU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/jEWe9Gaoqxo/v-deo.html Then: Trigger: ua-cam.com/video/RdphthCQ9VM/v-deo.html
Well, I like people to do things right. If someone is just not getting it I would move them down to a 3 wood to make it easier. I did this a few weeks ago but the young player was a total beginner. There was no benefit from hitting driver and he was trying to kill it every time. So 3 wood was easier. If you don't think you can ever hit driver then go to 3 wood too. Surely, this will be easy enough to hit as opposed to a driver/hybrid?

Paul- is an over the top swing mainly caused by a poor backswing? In other words, if your backswing (as you describe) is perfect, will it eliminate the over the top?. I have a reverse pivot tendency which causes a over the top- pull hook. Trying to implement your rotational swing with head movement in backswing. I notice that this methods rotates the entire torso in the backswing.
Over the top is cause by hitting with the arms. When you hit it leans you left and you swing left. I like a perfect backswing to make it easiest but look at Furyk. I wouldn't say that's perfect but he doesn't come over the top. It's simple physics of mass swinging around and axis. Hi Paul are the two axis you are referring to located at our hip sockets? I am asking you this, because when I swing back I feel tension in my trail thigh that i found out is actually my trail thigh muscles moving in the opposite direction of the muscles of my upper body. Now I know I have created a great deal of torque between my upper and lower body. From their I start my downswing with specifically my trail knee moving forward which immediately shifts my body to my lead axis or hip socket. Just comparing notes because at 74 I think this is the best way to start my downswing and everything automatically happens that is both repeatable and amazing. Cheers
If you want to think hips then you can do that (especially if it's working). I was trying to explain the visual of it. Image you have 2 cardboard tubes around your legs and one over your head down to your waist. How to you create 1 tube going back and 1 tube into the follow through. That is the image you want. In transition the top tube tilts which determines the path. Hips are fine if that works for you.
@@paulwilsongolf no tubes covering the the legs whatsoever: as the legs are bent from the knees. Do you personally feel any tension of the muscles of your trail thigh as you reach your backswing? That is because the humerus bone in the trail hip sockets is naturally turning in the opposite way our upper body is turning in our golf swing. If we let go of this torque up energy before we reach the top of our swing we loose significant power for our downswing. That is just how our anatomy works. Cheers
I'm not talking about straight legs. It's a mental image. You could still put a tube over your head or around your legs if you were tilted and had knee flex.
@@paulwilsongolf I now understand your analogy to prevent swaying in the golf swing. We are probably on the same page. The shallowing of the club and secondary tilt from the downswing actually results from my flexing my trail leg at the very start of my downswing. This is true with all good golfers wether they are aware of it or not. Perhaps expensive electrodes on a professional golfer will someday prove what I am saying is true. The flexing of the trail knee as Hogan himself showed on “ The Wonderful World of Golf” starts the downswing and nothing else should. I see you are doing this as well. So I think we are on the same page. I am getting inside the body more to explain why Hogan was right all these years. That’s all. Cheers
Good morning Paul. Just had a left hip replacement operation. Can you suggest which drills would be best to start off with when they give me the get go. Only 2 weeks out of hospital so a long way to go yet .
I have taught tons of people with hip replacements. They never have an issue with my technique. I would just start off doing easy practice swings. There is really nothing specific I would have people do other than super slow swings slowly building it up so you get used to it. Just be careful and know that this is going to take time. It's really a psychological thing.
Hi Paul- Not sure where to ask this question. “Does your company keep a list of instructors that teach your methods? I’m 68 years old, want to take lessons with someone who teaches your method, I have been following you for over a year, and have purchased your program. I live in Alberta Canada. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Leon
I have 3 people who teach my method. Myself, my 2 assistants. One in Michigan and the other in Toronto. I also do video live coaching through my app CoachLink. So you can either head down here or work with me through video. Up to you. I just taught a student from Calgary the other day. I have numerous students there.
@@paulwilsongolf Thanks so much Paul for getting back to me, very kind. I will most likely take you up on CoachLink in the new year. Much cheaper than a flight to LV or Toronto.
I am finally starting to get people to do practice swings at home? I don't want to get too excited just yet but I think miracles may actually happen. Commenters like you are starting to tell me they are practicing indoors. Just imagine a world if everyone did this ...
HI Paul, can you do a video on pitching? i'm talking 75 yards and in.... i'm trying to use this rotational swing for it but the moment i slow down i end up hitting it fat because if i go full speed i'm hitting it over my yardage.
I might in the future. No sure how much I want to/or should give away. Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN ua-cam.com/video/BZD0_jPL8ks/v-deo.html
If you are working on things some of this stuff is not going to feel natural. You need to work on it and get used to it. It's a lot about repeating it daily at home in practice swings. Got to be sure you are working on the right things though. Here is what I tell people to do if they lose their swing. This should work in your case too: ua-cam.com/video/uwtP7AxpT54/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/guSh4B4DM8c/v-deo.html When playing watch for this: ua-cam.com/video/cNhIyhi136E/v-deo.html
If you are right eye dominant and tilt your head like Nicklaus your right eye would be getting farther away from the ball plus you would see your nose not the ball through your right eye. I definitely don't recommend doing this.
@@paulwilsongolf Thank you sir for your prompt and helpful answer! I am just now trying to incorporate a number of your tips, I also thank you for that.👍🏼

@@paulwilsongolf ok thanks, that explains why I had such a hard time getting over plane after the takeaway, struggled with coming under plane but with this new space it really made my swing better
I’ve watched allot of your videos and had a decent swing with balanced weight but whenever I try have my head behind the ball and twist my lower torso I seem to not be able to keep a consistent balance with my weight and shaft lean going forward. My weight wants to stay back when I move my head back.
You need to shift and turn at the same time. You are just turning. To do that get the weight off the back foot through impact. ua-cam.com/video/ibkTQCoxUaA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/7z5eUcSwlSk/v-deo.html
I have tried your rotational swing and the two axis just is not working for me. I'm 60-40 wight on the front leg on the backswing and go 70-30 on the down swing. Works for me the best. Having the weight all the way on the front leg it's giving me consistent shots.
Not really sure how much you tried it and why you think it didn't work. If you have been doing something one way for a long time you are probably not instantly going to be able to change it. Also, if the other was working why would you even try what I teach? If something works don't change it.
Unfortunately, I don't have anyone there. For those wanting instruction who can't make it to us I do video coaching on my new app CoachLink. Using the app I can see what you are doing and check your swing as well as give you a few things to work on. This takes about 10-15 mins. You work on it then we do it again when you are ready. Works great. People who have used the app love it. See it in action here: bodyswing.com/coachlink
Looks like he’s talking about the stack and tilt that’s what they do keep the weight on the left side keep the head steady I tried it for quite a while but never could hit the ball consistently but I know some people have had success.
I am talking about any method that has you moving sideways by going down with the forward shoulder. I have tried them too with no success. It's way easier and way less strain on your body if you do a rotational swing. People seem to think I don't try all of these other techniques out there. Well, they would be wrong. I try it all to see what is being taught. My conclusion. I will keep teaching what I have been teaching for 30 years. I know the results I get.
I'm having trouble with my 2nd access now. I'm turning through the 2nd access instead of moving onto my left leg post-shot. As a result I pull, slice, top, etc. It's UGLY!! So, it's practice, practice, practice WITHOUT any golf balls until I get the proper form on video. There is NO point swinging at golf balls until I build the proper form/muscle memory. Then, I can introduce a bucket of practice balls, while hopefully retaining that form.
Read my previous reply. Yes, daily practice swings at home. When you go to the range. 7 iron only. Tee it up. Forget where the ball goes. ONLY think about stretching your arms out as per my previous answer.
@@paulwilsongolf Yupper however, my focus WAS predominantly on my poor backswing. I need a COMPLETE swing, not just a better backswing. More practice with video planned.
So slow down and keep watching it until you get the concept. This is about you creating circular rotation allow the head to move in the backswing. I have seen tons of people pre-tilted who don't move their head or move it towards the target as they go into their backswing. Watch this one and maybe it will make more sense: ua-cam.com/video/TmjVMTzGRrU/v-deo.html
Might want to watch it again. Pretty important stuff. There are 2 axis in your swing not 1. Move your head to build the first. Keep it there as you hit the ball. Then it moves over your forward leg to create the second. This is why your swing is an oval.
Paul is the best golf instructor I have seen
Go to 5:33 in the video where Paul states that the swing is now an oval. That was a breakthrough for me. I started visualizing and swinging like a oval on my downswing rather than a circle and I can not tell you what it did for my contact and distance. I’ve NEVER heard that description from any teaching pro except for Paul. Thank you Paul. You have simplified the swing in your videos. Unless you are a pro or top amateur you don’t need to look at ‘pros verses ams’ on other videos. It’s too technical and your probably not there.
Yes, this is a big part of understanding the swing. I talk about it here too: ua-cam.com/video/BzBgiUhyrB4/v-deo.html
Simple is the key for sure. Too much confusion out there. If you don't understand it why would you do it.
This guy is for real, I went from shooting 105 around a month ago to a 91 yesterday. His tips are super helpful
You just gave me a oh my gosh moment, that was me , reverse pivot. Thx Can’t wait to try.
Love those moments. They will take your swing to a whole new level. You'll see.
EXACTLY !
I've been golfing for 40 years muffing my irons, and in less than 15 min, I finally have achieved a swing that has changed my game. Thank you Paul!!
Very good. Now you are on track. Please keep doing it.
I spent 18 years in the golf business. I employed PGA professionals. Do not listen to UA-cam swing instructors, EXCEPT this man, Paul Wilson.
Paul, you asked me to view this video for a driver swing related question. This is remarkable and a gem of your tips. I will practice on this. Thanks.
Glad you think so. Too many people are trying to keep their heads too still. Move the head and your whole game changes.
Your videos have significantly improved my game. Ever since I watched how to square the club consistently, I have managed to swing easier and not force hitting the ball. Looking forward to more great content.
Great to hear! That was a good one. Glad you watched it. Keep at it.
That's great that you are starting to get it and are shooting some better numbers. Now you've seen you can do it you will want to keep doing it.
Really good. I've been so stuck with the guidance to keep my head still. This could be a real game changer
Yeah, move your head then let me know how you do. You will never keep it still ever again. Mind boggling they keep telling people to do this yet when you watch pros their heads move.
Tiny adjustments make a HUGE difference. Thanks for the lessons Paul!
They sure do. The slightest thing wrong can destroy your swing.
Well explained again Paul! I am one of your Fan clubs from Thailand. Your technique is really working for me.
Great explanation on the 2 axis & the transition in between to perform a natural golf swing (rotational)! 👏
Glad you enjoyed it! Something no one talks about yet vital to understand.
Best video on golf ! Explains so much.
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Great teaching instruction!!!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support.
Thanks for all of the tips I’ve been shooting in the low 80s and high 70s for a while but just a few of your tips helped me shoot a 73 the other day!
Nice round. Exciting times ahead. Keep at it.
This video is just what the doctor ordered. Thank you:)
Glad it helped!
Thanks again Paul huge help! Thank you!! Fairways and Greens!
Fairways and Greens. That's what it's all about.
Makes a lot of sense Paul!
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Great tip makes a world of difference!!
It sure does. Got to move the head.
Watched this video. Went to my garage and hit 5 perfect shots in a row. (I usually score 95-105) Thanks for the great tip Paul!
Nice work! Keep at it. Moving your head will be a game changer in your swing.
Much food for thought. Many thanks.
Glad it was helpful!

Just described my swing. Probably because I’m not making the initial turn consistently!! Thanks
Yes, this is vital. You don't build the first axis going back and you are in serious trouble.
Glad you like the tips. Can't do anything about this one now but in the future I will talk about it more and explain them.
Excellent video Paul. I will put this into practice at the driving range tomorrow - Cheers
Very good. Let us know how you do.
Thanks Paul 😁
Great tip Paul, been watching your videos for a while but this is helping things start to click! Quick question, when you are at the top of your backswing do you feel any stretching in your lead arm? Or only in your body? I am wondering whether I am overdoing the backswing...
Thanks. I am feeling a stretch in the left lat area as I coil. Not really in the arm. Maybe you are trying to force it too straight.
Very helpful lesson Paul!
Glad it was helpful!
Great teaching

Hello Paul, I'm left handed and have watched this video and the one to free up the arms and wrist. Now I seem to be pulling the ball with my irons way right and making great contact with the ball. My driver is perfect. Thoughts on why I'm doing this with my irons. Thanks for all the videos they really help.
Probably trying to hit down a little with them or tilted too much. Check your set up so your not too step then start the lower body first. If the lower moves first before the arms you will hit them dead straight.

Definitely good lesson for creating some power and distance, problem for me seems lots of long, straight, left drives when I get my hips goin.
That is because you are just unwinding from the top. You need the tilt:

Unbelievable, last week, driver 240 best shot, today averaging 250, best shot 278. All because I’m going body first, the swing feels so much more powerful and is also more accurate, can’t believe it, thankyou thankyou thankyou.
That's great. So much more fun when you can bomb it. Make approach shots so much easier too. This is game changing.
Went round today in 82, best round for years. Not stopped smiling.
Hi Paul, do you have a video on how high to tee the ball with various woods, hybrids and irons for the most consistent ball flight?
I don't. You want half the ball about the face.
Good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
Been using your swing and it has been doing wonders for me! Although I have problems with it when the lie is downwards, meaning when the left foot below the right. How do you hit these shots, Paul? Kasper
Glad you are doing well. Here are a couple tips I did on uneven lies on my other channel:

Have you ever analyzed Corey Conners swing? Feel like it is very similar to what you teach. I love his swing.
You are coming out of it too soon. Work on this position:
ua-cam.com/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/v-deo.html
Paul great tip ! How do I ensure that when firing my hips I don’t involve the trail side too early ?
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/o55Cl-byCq8/v-deo.html
Paul, I tried this at the range today and found that with leaning back on the downswing like you mention, I either hit the ground early or top the ball.
It's new and you are not good at it. Like anything it takes some work. So keep at it. ua-cam.com/video/UwynwFBldv4/v-deo.html and topping you are swinging too hard and trying something new so of course you are going to look up. Focus on the new thing not the result. Get the new thing ... you get the result.
You are the real deal,!
I am. Glad you are trying my stuff.
rotational swing is the best for seniors also... helps prevent injuries and you can play with this swing for a lifetime
It sure is. This bent over swing they are doing now kills my back.
Hi Paul is there any video on short game.... How to spin the ball more....
Thanks
You watch your ball. Pull/pull hook/pull slice = arms push/push fade = legs. ua-cam.com/video/o_YFEIiNxZk/v-deo.html
No?
Yeah but you need to create the first axis. If you had your feet together it would work but you don't. Watch:

You can work on this too:
ua-cam.com/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/v-deo.html
@@paulwilsongolf Perfect. Can’t wait to keep at it on the range. I was amazed already with one session!! One last question, i couldn’t find any videos explaining how to hit shots lets say from 100 yards in. Or like a 20 yard shot, anything longer than greenside chips. Could you explain that or direct me to a video? Thanks so much
Glad you are doing well. This is what I want to hear.
I don't have any pitching videos posted yet. I all about how much do I give away. I have a membership site with people paying for my tips so it's not really fair to give it all away:
Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN

Thanks so much! I watched one of your podcasts/livestreams. Just got to keep doing it and build it. Takes time and effort but once you can build it up it's a lot of fun.

Do this but early: ua-cam.com/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/v-deo.html
Here are the drills (wrists):

ua-cam.com/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/v-deo.html

Remember to roll it from the top to get it hooking. Forget direction. You only care about the spin.
Trigger: ua-cam.com/video/RdphthCQ9VM/v-deo.html
Do this daily:
ua-cam.com/video/x1NehGi8tyI/v-deo.html
Once you can hit 10 in a row start firing the lower body. This is what you are thinking about to start down. You feel still feel the release but you are not thinking about it.
I would also work on lag to make sure you have some:
ua-cam.com/video/syZXIyJNH-Y/v-deo.html

Hey Paul. What do you think about the driver/hybrid. Think it could help a high
Handicapper old guy?

Here is how to get your head moving:

If you are right eye dominant and tilt your head like Nicklaus your right eye would be getting farther away from the ball plus you would see your nose not the ball through your right eye. I definitely don't recommend doing this.

Well, I am off until October. Please go to my website and send us a message: paulwilsongolf.com
To do that get the weight off the back foot through impact.
ua-cam.com/video/ibkTQCoxUaA/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/7z5eUcSwlSk/v-deo.html
I have tried your rotational swing and the two axis just is not working for me. I'm 60-40 wight on the front leg on the backswing and go 70-30 on the down swing. Works for me the best. Having the weight all the way on the front leg it's giving me consistent shots.
Not really sure how much you tried it and why you think it didn't work. If you have been doing something one way for a long time you are probably not instantly going to be able to change it. Also, if the other was working why would you even try what I teach? If something works don't change it.
Do you have someone who teaches your method in Florida?
Unfortunately, I don't have anyone there. For those wanting instruction who can't make it to us I do video coaching on my new app CoachLink. When you tilt you are getting lower plus I am looking at what I am about to hit. So the head does lower in the downswing.
@@paulwilsongolf thanx
Found this hard to follow. I already tilt my headway from target. Probably watched too fast.
So slow down and keep watching it until you get the concept. This is about you creating circular rotation allow the head to move in the backswing. I have seen tons of people pre-tilted who don't move their head or move it towards the target as they go into their backswing. Watch this one and maybe it will make more sense:
ua-cam.com/video/TmjVMTzGRrU/v-deo.html
I think pros like Bryson DeChambeau would benefit from these videos. He is trying to smash the heck out of the ball each time
Yep, I called it. I said that distance would not make him dominate. The longer you go the less room for error you have.
Most confusing "tip" I´ve seen for a long time, and there are many on youtube.
Might want to watch it again. Pretty important stuff. There are 2 axis in your swing not 1. Move your head to build the first. Keep it there as you hit the ball. Then it moves over your forward leg to create the second. This is why your swing is an oval.
