I wouldn't call that a "second half." I'd call it more of a final fifth. I personally think it's a great addition. It's a high capacity ride with a great appearance. It fits the park's spatial needs nicely and is sure to be a thrilling attraction.
Quinton Parchment I'm cool with vest restraints. Sure they can be a bit tight on the chest but they prevent headbanging and make my head feel more open and free. I'd say a dive coaster drop is less about airtime and more about the force of the drop. It's a personal preference though, and I can understand why some may not be fans of the restraints.
Mr. Meloetta not really for me as I didn't really use that element much on them, the RCT dive coaster just sucks as that's the only inversion. While I do make decent use of the type, the Vertical Loop is used a little more as I use the Vertical Loop on the wood coaster, and I hardly EVER use that.
Oh man the rct dive coaster or "vertical drop coaster" is so off compared to mosern dive coasters. Love the games though. Number 2 has always been my favorite
I dont get how its a weird choice.. is it going to be awesome or not?? Maybe not commonly done.. but that doesnt make it weird.. it makes it unique!! :D
Coaster Studios the ride is themed to people travelling the treacherous terrain of Yukon. The parks site has a story of the ride on it and at one part it says something about a Golden Eagle watching over the people travelling the Yukon in search of gold
So I’m pretty sure that the gold miners or the Yukon people (yes I’m Canadian I’m to young to understand) failed and now are doomed and the only mention of a bird in the backstory is a golden eagle flys above the miners high in the sky I know kind of stupid but still excited for the ride also that vertical loop is memorial to skyrider probably
Pretty sure Coaster Fun has the right of it. I assumed the "Striker" referred to striking gold, hence the pickaxes in the logo. It's the only way I can make sense of the name.
I personally think this will work well at Canada's Wonderland. Yukon striker is a big deal for Canadians. there is not really a good looping coaster at all at wonderland. The vertical loop is unique and don't think it will be that bad. I can't wait to ride Yukon striker tho when it opens in 2019!
@@thebrantfordrailfan Agree The Bat Flight Deck and Dragon Fire are all old and rough and we are finally getting a smooth looping coaster. The Bat is the only one that gets a good line Dragon Fire and Flight Deck are mostly walk ons
@@codywanschura3824 I am ok for the most part with the Bat andd Dragon fire, especially dragon fire since it's such a classic but in my opinion Flight Deck and Time Warp need to go. They can put a B&M Flyer in it's place. Many people want a B&M invert but the silly GP is probably going to complain about how they took down Flight Deck and put in "the exact same thing"
The loop and the last quarter of the ride is a total homage to Skyrider if you ask me. The loop, the helix. And it's all themed to the Klondike Gold Rush, check Wonderland's site for yourself. At least Canada's Wonderland is getting something "big". And hey, it's our first custom-looping coaster since 1981, cut us some slack! Lol
As a Torontonian I am super excited for this! Also I think Wonderland will have a Top 4: 1. Behemoth 2. Yukon Striker 3. Leviathan 4. Vortex Everyone forgets about Vortex, I think it is the best still operating Suspended Coaster tied with Ninja at SFMM.
We'll see when I ride it. I love Leviathan but it has it's flaws. Plus this is a record breaker of a dive coaster. Realistically Yukon Striker should actual be #4 on the list, since no one has ridden it yet. Also I've never been on a dive coaster before, so even though I know what to expect, I've never actually experienced one before. Also it's my opinion so you don't have to agree.
Daniel K this does look like one of the best dive coasters. Leviathan is my favorite in the park and I wasn't too crazy about Valravn so maybe I'm not giving this enough of a chance. I shall see when I ride it
On the subject of Leviathan I guess Leviathan is currently 2nd after Behemoth and before Vortex imo. It is a really solid ride, but isn't as good as Behemoth.
I actually disagree. I think a dive coaster is a GREAT fit for CW. Dive coasters are huge crowd pleasers and CW is one of if not the most visited of the cedar fair parks. I think the layout is one of the best I've seen on a dive coaster. The color scheme I think works better on this than Valravn. The drop into the tunnel through vortex looks fantastic! And I actually like the vertical loop and think it'll be an interesting experience. I'm not big on the name, but it's better than Ziz or Valravn. I am really worried about the vest restraints and think that'll kill the ride
I agree with this comment. I am not looking forward to vest restraints, OTS restraints would have been better. Although, I am excited for the loop. There simple but still one of my favourite elements, and its a good tribute to Skyrider.
Over the shoulder restraint is what it stands for. Basically it's the restraint that goes over your shoulders and any kind of restraint that isn't a lap bar. The vest restraint is a kind of OTSR that is REALLY bad. Yukon Striker will have this
Canada's Wonderland rollercoasters aren't about why, it's about why not!? Why not have a verticle loop of a dive coaster? Why not keep the bumpiest wooden coaster in North America up and running? Why not build Vortex's supports straight into the mountain? Why not have a shuttle coaster with an Arrow train on it? See my point?
As much as I like this channel, I'd say that your opinions on this ride were pretty arrogant. The name "Yukon striker" fits more into the area and theming of the western frontier Canada area, which is going to become theming transformed next year. Something called "ziz" would just make it sound like another part of the action zone, when it's decently far away from it. I also think that the giant loop is to pay tribute to the previous existing ride, and it would also be interesting to see a 95 foot tall loop in person.
Sooooo people complain about the Midcourse being too early in valravn and taking away too much momentum... And now B and M answers and puts it at the end of the and now people are mad because it will have a lame ending... B and M cant catch a break!

Obviously, the brake run isnt in the middle of this ride, so its not odd at all that the second "half" is weak, since it really isnt half of the ride. Its basically over when it hits the brakes. I think this has potential to be the best dive coaster in the world (in terms of just the coaster, theming aside) but, like you said, the vest restraints might mess it up. That being said, I suppose we will just have to ride it before we can make a fair judgement of the ride.
Some coasters are centred for enthusiasts and the GP. This coaster is centred for just the GP. I still think it will be an awesome fit. It's tall and fast, and it's a coaster at CW with inversions that's actually GOOD! Like, we should celebrate that. Americans are spoiled with the worlds most fantastic coaster lineup so... of course this won't impress a lot of them. As a Canadian, this is very exciting for me, and I'm not gonna nitpick every little thing about it. It's tall, fast and has an under water tunnel. And it's also photogenic. I do agree that the name is a bit... awkward, but we'll get used to it.
Exactly. You can't cater to one group too much, otherwise you become one-dimensional. Honestly, we enthusiasts are lucky to get some of the awesome intense coasters like I-305, Skyrush, and even Steel Vengeance because it's like this one guy said (and I can't remember who, sorry), for the GP, they'll ride a crazy intense coaster once, be like "that was awesome... but I've had enough", and, we have to remember, MOST PEOPLE ARE GP. I know your kind of hating on the ride. But take it from someone who’s home park is wonderland. It feels so damn good to get something that’s nicer than the cedar point exclusive.
“Yo, did you hear what cedar points getting?” “No What?” “It’s the tallest, longest, fastest coaster ever!” “Wait so it’s taller than Top Thrill Dragster?” “I guess so”
People should understand that this is not United States, nothing is going to be exactly like all those extreme roller coasters in United States, Canada's wonderland is a family park because they wanted everyone to feel like they would have something to do there, I personally think it's a great touch to the park, if anyone knows and has been to Canada's wonderland they might feel the same. I am not trying to make everyone feel positive about this new addition but I'm just trying to say that don't put to much negativity into a roller coaster you haven't been on, if you want to down shame it, sure go ahead and do it but that might make someone feel bad that they have this roller coaster that no one thinks it's good and in United States they have all these amazing thrill roller coasters, so if anyone reads this far and doesn't get board of me typing this then please remind yourself to not make people feel bad about it their theme parks, not that he did that but if you were going to say anything about that. If you feel mixed emotions about this then feel free to write anything mean in the comments.
The big space beside the immleman that you said could be used for another element is actually used for special events. Many people go to have picnics there and is always completely filled up with people when there are fireworks displays.
If you think the name is terrible, then why don't you hate the name for Georgia Cyclone, Georgia Scorcher, Carolina Cyclone, Carolina Cobra, Carolina Goldrusher, California Screamin, New Texas Giant, Tennessee Tornado .ETC? They basically mean the same thing because they are named after states, and Yukon Striker is named after one of the three Canadian territories. Why is it bad for a coaster to be named after a Canadian territory (where the gold rush was) but not bad for one to be named after a USA state?
This coaster parody writes itself. "Yukon Striker, wait, I get we're in the Yukon, but what are we striking? Is the Striker a kind of mythical bird, like a Valravn? Wait, it's themed to a mine? Ok, apart from how there are already a lot of dive coasters themed to mines (Baron 1898, Tower of Terror coaster), but why the heck is a bird its mascot? We already have two themed to birds, but at least they both make some kind of sense (ShieKra is actually themed to a real-life bird called the shikra, they just added the e to get the public to get the pronunciation right, Valravn is, I don't know, a raven that went to Valhalla?), this one just is out of place." "Rise up the intimidating lift hill into a vertical drop into an underwater tunnel, which will surely become the thumbnail for several clickbait GP videos, then rise into the almost obligatory dive coaster Immleman, then through a corkscrew, a turn, a... vertical loop? Then a second immleman, then pass through the midcourse and into an... airtime hill? Who designed this? This layout is crazy, not in a good or bad, but in a weird way." -cut to parody scene- "Now, finish the layout with an anticlimactic helix, then into the final break run. Congratulations! You've just braved a ride that most of the GP would most likely run away from."
It's too bad Wonderland let you personally down. Feel free to not visit us up in Canada if we're not providing you with your perfect coaster (insert baby crying soundtrack here)... The amazing achievements others are creating while you sit behind your keyboard and mic should be applauded - this will be a great addition to an already great park that not only provides one helluva ride, but pays homage to its predecessor in a very clever fashion. Maybe if you're lucky we can try to get those folks spending the millions to provide entertainment to the masses to run their ideas, branding and immersive experience concepts past you for on-high approval herein out.
I think the reason for the open space by Vortex is going to be used for the 2020 season? Maybe a roller coaster, another drop tower, etc? I LOVE Wonderland and they're starting to run out of space for new rides/ attractions
The loop was for to give a nod to sky riders iconic vertical loop which is absolutely amazing. And the second half is like skyriders helix it has a airtime hill and then it goes into its helix like skyrider. And the similar colours. Canada’s wonderland fans were sad to find out skyrider was closing. So this was a perfect addition and upgrade to give a nod to skyrider!
Taylor, I think you're being terribly critical of this ride. Different layout from the usual dive coasters is what'll make it unique and a load of fun!
I wish you wouldn't call it a "Second Half" it's more like the slow down with a helix taking you back to shed. The "First Half" as you call it kills Valraven's first and second combined. Also the name is fine, look at the rides around it, all Canadiana themed. Timber wolf Falls, Flying Canoes,Flying Eagle, Lumberjack, Soaring Timbers. Yukon Striker makes total sense.
3:54 so what? Yukon Striker's first "half" is better than Valravn's entire layout! Besides the part after the mid course is the last quarter, not the second half, so i feel that's unfair.
I think this is a great fit honestly, and I love the vertical loop. I do think the second half is weak and the name/theming isn't great, but as far as Canada's Wonderland coasters go, what honestly would've been better?
everyone says CW is CF's prototype park but actually, CP was the prototype park as everything wrong with valravn has been fixed and this coaster is so smooth that you can feel the mid-course shake
I have recently rode Yukon striker and the vests are new. B&M made it so there is more room for more airtime and/or hang time. The vertical loop is pretty forceful. And the “second half” more like a quarter actually is better than anticipated you get decent floater and the helix is pretty fast
All u do is just talk negative about Canada’s Wonderland, this is an awesome coaster especially for wonderland definitely could’ve gotten something better but the fact that ur already saying the ride is not going to be good is kinda an impulsive opinion
The name is a play off Gold Striker with the mining theme only Canadian. Yukon is a territory in the far most northwestern part of Canada that borders Alaska known for mining. It’s helping to solidify the Frontier section of the park hence why lumberjack and souring Timbers are in the same area. I’m sure the big plot of land will be used for a new flat ride in the future
The name is actually has a big history attached to it, when the park originally opened there was supposed to be a Frontier Canada themed section that was never completed. The ride doesn’t get any less fun from a name, but it means means a lot more than a fun roller coaster to us Canadians, if you took the time to look into the history of the park instead of trying to be the first guy on UA-cam you would probably have noticed how sentimental of a name it is. I personally love it because it finally opens frontier Canada section. They’ll get an RMC Wild Beast next and call it Wild Ziz to complete our trio
The coasters vertical loop is a tribute to the former ride “sky rider” and before you go off telling me that they don’t make these rides with tributes in mind, Canada’s wonderland confirmed it themselves.
Hey man, since your channel is growing a lot, I think you should put the stats also in the metric system, because almost the whole world uses that instead of the imperial system (which can get pretty messy if you ask me)
Okay, I know this is meant to be a serious video, but when you said "95 foot tall vertical loop" and a certain image popped up, I died laughing. I loved that episode of Coaster Parodies on Time Traveler. You pulled off a very sly and subtle joke that a couple people will get and I find this in particular, hilarious. Well done video as always, but that bit got me rolling. hahaha
Hi Taylor, I am a big fan of the channel and love all of your content. Especially you’re parodies. Are you planning on coming back to Florida. I’d love to see more videos there. Anyway keep up the great work.
To clarify, It is named after a bird prominent here in Canada called Golden Eagle. It is the fastest bird in diving for its prey. Hence, Dive coaster. As well, they are moving hard on the Canadian frontier theme of that part of the park. With the new thrill rides soaring timbers & Lumberjack, timberwolf, white water canyon and flying canoes it becomes the centerpiece for this part of the park. As far as the coaster, I'm happy with it. Aside from the very lack luster finish, it has some awesome elements. Who isn't intrigued by the underwater near miss tunnel after the dive through the helix of Vortex? Pretty sweet trademark. And for all the nay sayers regarding the vertical loop, there is tribute being given to Skyrider which I think is genius. I honestly think CW is in line for a roller coaster waterslide. I think Timberwolf will be pulled or transformed into a water coaster. And by 2021 we will see a Hybrid with either Wildbeast or Minebuster. Cedar fair wants to have two superior parks on either side of the border and we will start to see those goals soon.
For reaction to the Land they spared and the loop. This for people who might not know Canada's Wonderland. So a little bit of history about the land this coasters station and lifthill sits upon.. Used to once be a Togo Standup Coaster (Skyrider)from 5/1985 - 9/2014 before being disassembled and shipped overseas to Italy where the coaster(named freestyle now) continues to give more riders the standup experiance. The colour of this Dive Coaster is also that of the original colours Skyrider used to have ;). So the loop is pretty awesome for a dive coaster and what they did with putting a loop in was to bring back what skyrider used to have is the once long standing loop over wondermountain logo they used for years. The Helix at the end is also what skyrider also had but I do like how they did incorporate the pathway and the low passing of the train itself makes for great photo ops. The land that they never developed was for use still of people to sit or stand for fireworks when they have them. They decided to keep it open land for that reason I know of thus far. I'm really looking forward to this ride and cant wait till 2019!
He's just butthurt because in a previous video he stated that there is no way CF will give all of the records away from their flagship park to Wonderland. That's what I concluded anyways
Cant wait to see the plaza and whatever nifty ride marquee they build (hoping it's as neat as bansheee's) Will the queue have any theming? The coaster looks fun!
Do you think that B&M will use again the old vest restraints on a new roller coaster? I mean there isnt yet like a B&M floorless with the new restraints but every new B&M coaster since Banshee has the new restranits... I personally think that they wont use the old vest restraints again :/
I personally really like dive coasters and am pretty excited for this ride. I think that if after the immilmen they had a over bank going to the right onto that empty plot of land then a diveloop before the zeroG, then the ride would be much better
I wouldn't call that a "second half." I'd call it more of a final fifth. I personally think it's a great addition. It's a high capacity ride with a great appearance. It fits the park's spatial needs nicely and is sure to be a thrilling attraction.

Yukon striker is a much much better name than steel vengeance.
zack mcdonald Thank you!!!!!!
I disagree.
It is
zack mcdonald Thank you Very Much
zack mcdonald ehhhh not really
This park needs a top 5, so I want to see this park get something like a Floorless or a flyer or an Invert, or a good Launch Coaster
Caleb Reese they have flight deck
1k subs no vids Flight deck is awful
They have a launch
1k subs no vids yeah but that’s trash
Brandon
They don’t have a launch
Never I forgot the have backlot but in my opinion it is the worst backlot in the chain I have ridden all of then
Atleast their getting a new coaster. Unlike two other cedar fair parks in know. Cough cough Michigan’s Adventure and valley fair cough cough
Don’t forget Dorney Park and Worlds of Fun.
Gilroy Gardens
Eccentric Gamer well it’s possible that both are getting that Mack rides coaster in Europe or an rmc raptor
dorney too :(
A Virus ok yea but it’s a family park so it’s irrelevant
This coaster parody writes itself.
"Yukon Striker, wait, I get we're in the Yukon, but what are we striking? Is the Striker a kind of mythical bird, like a Valravn? Wait, it's themed to a mine? Ok, apart from how there are already a lot of dive coasters themed to mines (Baron 1898, Tower of Terror coaster), but why the heck is a bird its mascot? We already have two themed to birds, but at least they both make some kind of sense (ShieKra is actually themed to a real-life bird called the shikra, they just added the e to get the public to get the pronunciation right, Valravn is, I don't know, a raven that went to Valhalla?), this one just is out of place."
"Rise up the intimidating lift hill into a vertical drop into an underwater tunnel, which will surely become the thumbnail for several clickbait GP videos, then rise into the almost obligatory dive coaster Immleman, then through a corkscrew, a turn, a... vertical loop?
Can you do canada's wonderland operations test
Taylor, I think you're being terribly critical of this ride. Different layout from the usual dive coasters is what'll make it unique and a load of fun!
Wow this coaster seems amazing
What's a Yukon Striker and why is is spelled that way? Oh wrong coaster.
I was there yesterday. Really exited for this ride!
Tyler, the reason that plot of land next to the Immelmann was left alone is because that’s where everyone sits to watch fireworks.
Yup
Chez Napoli ah, didn't know that! Makes sense
Ugh and here im sayin.. oh thats for the next amazing riiiide! :/
Ive been watching your videos for the past like week non stop.. I'm so glad I found this channel lol
You cannot call the helix the second have. Just cause it's called an mcbr doesn't mean it's in the actual middle of the ride
I wonder if it will get stuck on the loop as often as the coaster it replaced.
All Toronto needs now is a Stanley Cup championship
3:54 so what? Yukon Striker's first "half" is better than Valravn's entire layout! Besides the part after the mid course is the last quarter, not the second half, so i feel that's unfair.
Are you going anywhere tomorrow for National Roller Coaster Day?
Kings Island!
I can tell this is gonna be a great ride thanks a lot coaster studios, now I know what I’m up against for my 2019 trip to Canada’s wonderland!
Great video it looks like it will be a better dive coaster than the likes of valraven and sheikra
It will probably be the best Dive Coaster when it opens
Cross Crease Hockey I definitely think it will be with a drop of that size
That really doesn't matter if its forceless because of the vest restraints.
JoeBlow I know what you mean
I hope it doesn't get the vest restraints it's the worst invention by b&m it should get ots restraints
I think this is a great fit honestly, and I love the vertical loop. I do think the second half is weak and the name/theming isn't great, but as far as Canada's Wonderland coasters go, what honestly would've been better?
RMC Wild Beast, a Launch Coaster, a Wing Coaster, a Launched Wing Coaster...
SiebayRoo maybe a floorless or an Invert
A launched hyper coaster.
Flight Deck 2
Not all launched B&Ms are wings.
everyone says CW is CF's prototype park but actually, CP was the prototype park as everything wrong with valravn has been fixed and this coaster is so smooth that you can feel the mid-course shake
Why are you questioning the vertical loop?
Coz he can
I have recently rode Yukon striker and the vests are new. B&M made it so there is more room for more airtime and/or hang time. The vertical loop is pretty forceful. And the “second half” more like a quarter actually is better than anticipated you get decent floater and the helix is pretty fast
I think it's great idea with the vertical loop what other element do you think they can add? Definitely not another dive loop.
Oh yeah I'm pumped for this ride and I'm going to Canada's wonderland next year
Almost 100k. Congrats man! 😁😁
What do you think about winter fest coming to canada’s wonderland
All u do is just talk negative about Canada’s Wonderland, this is an awesome coaster especially for wonderland definitely could’ve gotten something better but the fact that ur already saying the ride is not going to be good is kinda an impulsive opinion
Looks dope... Can't wait to ride!
But doesn't hangtime have more inversions? Or did you just mean B&M dives?
Coaster Studios, I didn't get the manufacturer. Is the manufacturer B&M like Valravn?
Yes another coaster on my bucket list! 😊
Where r the airtime hills?
So hyped! Not for the coaster, but a new coaster studios video!
at least the lines at leviathan and behemoth will be shorter...
I'm so excited for this ride
The coasters vertical loop is a tribute to the former ride “sky rider” and before you go off telling me that they don’t make these rides with tributes in mind, Canada’s wonderland confirmed it themselves.
The height is not 245 feet. It is 223 feet which is the same height as Valravn however the underwater tunnel makes the drop 245 feet
Hey man, since your channel is growing a lot, I think you should put the stats also in the metric system, because almost the whole world uses that instead of the imperial system (which can get pretty messy if you ask me)
Congratulations for 100k subscribers!
Well done video as always, but that bit got me rolling. hahaha
Personally, I think the vertical loop is what makes this Dive Coaster really stand out from the others, and I love Dive Coasters!
The vertical loop is there to pay tribute to skyrider.
Whats wrong with a vertical loop?
Can cedar fair combine Yukon striker first have and valravn second half
Can u do a Canada’s wonderland vs cedar point
Looks great. What ride was taken out to make room for This?
SkyRider
Hi Taylor, I am a big fan of the channel and love all of your content. Especially you’re parodies. Are you planning on coming back to Florida. I’d love to see more videos there. Anyway keep up the great work.
A 95 foot tall loop good one. But getting to the serious side, are you going to be there for their opening of it
And Valravn flows right off the tongue?
I honestly don’t think the name is that bad, I mean it’s a lot better than the rumored name Ziz
Are you going to do a video about the KI announcement?
I have no idea how you can be so critical before riding it, or even seeing the computer analysis for the G's you're going to feel. You have no idea.
He's just butthurt because in a previous video he stated that there is no way CF will give all of the records away from their flagship park to Wonderland.
That's what I concluded anyways
Can you make a video on Busch Gardens Williamsburg the ride coming for 2019 and the rumored new country
Cant wait to see the plaza and whatever nifty ride marquee they build (hoping it's as neat as bansheee's)
Will the queue have any theming?
The coaster looks fun!
Does you Yukon striker time travel
I got a email from wonderland saying that there is a new ride in 2019 called a youkon striker so finally a vid that dosnt lie
i wish that cedar fair would add another roller coaster to Worlds Of Fun!! it’s my home park and it’s almost been 10 years 😥
So this one is longer than Oblivion?
Do you think that B&M will use again the old vest restraints on a new roller coaster? I mean there isnt yet like a B&M floorless with the new restraints but every new B&M coaster since Banshee has the new restranits... I personally think that they wont use the old vest restraints again :/
Obviously talking about Dive, Wing and Floorless coasters, not hyper ones...
I personally really like dive coasters and am pretty excited for this ride. I think that if after the immilmen they had a over bank going to the right onto that empty plot of land then a diveloop before the zeroG, then the ride would be much better
SOOO CLOSE TO 100K😃😃😃😃
what sucks is that the vests are gonna really tighten up as you're hitting the bottom of that first drop
Coaster studios, why do you not like dive coasters? I've never been on one myself, but what dont you like about them?
Rock bottom plunge at nickoloadian universe has a vertical loop (excuse my spelling)
Six flags 2019 predictions?
Isn't it the same height as Valravn?
You can't say that's a second half. I think that the second half is after the imilmon (or however you spell it).
