Great video, really hit the nail on the head for me - what frustrates me most is exactly what you said about the textures - so much could be fixed by adding more visible "macro variation" - paint splatters, welds and joins in the metal on weapons and floor panels, detailing in the brutes' armour etc. Theres no extra performance cost and it would add so much life and believability to it.
According to an allegedly credible leak, the build that was used in the showcase was 4 months old. Take a look. ua-cam.com/video/d92e8x8nVUY/v-deo.html
More lines in armor is exactly what the community complained about. Over designed armor. I think we just need more weathering and the old covenant style enemies need metallic pearlescent armor with subtle hexagon patterns like they used to. The Brutes need to look more like they did in Halo Wars 2 with more metallics and weathering. I'd also like to see their facial design resemble Halo 2 and Atriox himself more.
ah yeah probably should have worded it better, I was thinking like reach style stuff and the word lines came to mind (just edited the comment to reflect it). But yes, lets not go back to the overdesigned armour ahaha
DID YOU NOT SEE THE ELITES? A massive return to form on them! They're not hulking thugs anymore. The grunts are a good mixture of 343 and Bungie designs too!
I haven’t seen this mentioned, but I really like that they meld the shield and health bar when your shields are full! It’s a good mixture of the H3 HUD simplicity and the H5 HUD informativeness
Every covenant that has ever lived: "Oh no, it's the demon, we're all dead!" Escharum: "I shall finally be able to use my THEATER DEGREE!" *takes a huge bite out of the scenery*
more soul than a sock with a hole canned if I know mate. Fiercest little creature I’ve ever seen. I’m gonna name my new Panzer after him. My Panzer will hopefully appear in halo infinite.
Play the native Halo CE and 2 versions on PC. Install mods to get the effects back that Gearbox took away. Wait until Xenia can properly emulate Halo 3 to play it.
The Pilot: Has a mental breakdown and is panicing because he just wants to get back home and is venting to the chief about how he just wants to leave The Chief: "I COUNT 3 ANTI AIR GUNS"
One minor thing that irks me is the pistol that was shown in the presentation. It's very obviously not the Magnum and I hope they haven't made the choice to drop it's iconic design and purpose for a more generic looking handgun. Though the fact that it is noted as the MK50 Sidekick (could be reading it wrong) lifts my spirits a bit, as the name variation from the Magnums could mean that there are multiple pistol types, depending on how one likes to handle their handguns.
Steven Mackintosh no it really doesn’t, even in universe it’s the “sidekick” and not the M6 Magnum series of pistol that’s been used all the way to Halo 5.
@@Slender_Man_186 Only difference I see between halo 2's magnum and Infinite's is that Halo 2's ironsights are green. I see literally no difference besides that. I didn't know that it was supposed to be a different pistol in halo 2 though. I just found it funny to criticize Infinite's pistol design when it's the exact same one in Halo 2. Also looked back at the gameplay and it says MK50 Sidekick so I don't think it's the same pistol
@@chug5362 My guess is that if it a replacement, then the upgrades tab will allow you to customize it back into the og magnum since we've seen extra info under all of the weapons when it says to pick them up.
To be fair they look very similar to the halo 3 and reach brutes. Edit: they also look like the halo wars 2 brutes, but I agree that h2a had the best brute design.
"Brutes in H2A: Menacing towers of fur and rage difficult to defeat in combat because they were unbalanced as Bungie added them in at the last moment." Fixed it for ya.
@@bigmanroadman3910 No, their face is waaaaay too flat. The Reach and 3 brutes had a snout and was spotted with furr moreso than what was shown with Halo Infinite
It's almost like they ripped models from halo wars 2 where infantry coloring is meant to be a lot more saturated so they can be more easily identified from the 'aerial' view. Good news is the gameplay looks great. Art tweaks can be made before launch.
@@Kaiziak favourite franchise of all time is ruined by incompetent people and time after time they fail to understand wht their games flop. Of course im annoyed. 5 years in development for this pile of shit.
It drepess me to see how many peoples only give a fuck about immersive details but no knowleg about gamedesigne and great gameplay. The grafics are a let down but it suprised me with the Infinite gameplay how much they focus the gameplay. I mean good and dynamic enemy ai, great physics and a lot going on on the screen on the same time is something which realy makes the gameplay better. Not amazing graphics.
@@odin175lorenz5 It surprises me how people defend the graphics from a next-gen flagship game. Expected Halo 3/Horizon Zero Dawn visuals and animations.
Something really small that brought me some joy was toward the end of the demo, before chief gets in the shade turret, he throws a spike grenade. It slips through the tiniest crack in the fusion coil hitbox. Nice to see it didn't just stick to thin air.
Schadenfreude Rogue One was Disney’s best Star Wars movie though, and Solo was actually pretty decent. The sequel trilogy on the other hand, I agree with you; they make Halo 5’s story look like a masterpiece.
@@mdisco10 I mean, i was mostly referring to the dialogue, but RO was...competent. It didn't outright suck, but it's not the best SW us capable of by any means. I also dislike the continuity errors. As for Solo, i didn't watch it, but again, they are dilluting the charm and merit of these characters with every unimaginative story they add. I abhor altering characters or their storylines in any way. If you can't make it work with the story you have, then can it. TCW is the only time i will make an exception.
so I'll be honest, I didn't even pick up on the "plasticy" look of everything until it was pointed out and now I can't unsee it but you know what? Honestly my first reaction on seeing everything was relief because things feel so much less busy than Halo 4 and 5 visually. The brute ravager gun has large areas of rest on it. Large areas with less detail that make the areas of greater detail (the big meaty blade and the operational bits of it) that much more striking. The art design is really good! It needs a texture and material pass to Get There but it's really good so far!
I just want them to bring back the ammo counter that showed icons of all the bullets in a clip. And I don’t like the weapon hud being in the bottom right.
Yeah its like all the fps games right now. They should just leave it out entirely and just show it on the guns except for the covenants and the banished weapons.
@@Will057 well traditionally all the halo games ammo counter was at the top right, I"ve gotten so used to it that I don't mind it being there, and I love where it was. They need some OG fan service to keep some people happy. Some are boycotting it bc it has sprint which I think is stupid bc, it wasn't even 343 that add sprint into the game.
My assumption for the ammo being placed at the bottom was an art style choice. I'm sure they wanted the hud to obstruct the landscape as little as possible
I think it’s more badass when the time arbiter was in a fight with a spartan he described the Spartan as “As I stared into the gold visor and fought, roared, and screamed the spartan showed no emotion,no sound, no face to look at ” or something like that
I'm just thrilled that H5s heavy handed ADS appears to be gone. Assuming the default control style is being used, the HUD indicates that LT is Grenades/Equipment/Etc, not ADS. Chief only smart scoped briefly during this gameplay. Everything points to this being a return to form with the pre-H5 run n' gun style of gameplay.
LNG is one of my favorite creators just because how seriously he takes the content creation and the detail he puts into every vid. Thanks for the insight.
The only thing I want to know is if the new weapons are replacing the old ones like what IGN says about the new shotgun replacing the classic halo shotgun. I’m really hoping this isn’t the case.
They’re probably just weapon variants, 343 has learned the lessons of redesigns; the classic shotgun is too good to just abandon. So my personal belief is that we’ll be seeing both types of shotguns.
FordFan01 the new unsc weapon looks more like a COD or Siege gun. Only thing that really makes it look like a halo gun is the ammo counter on the side.
8:50 YES. One of my favorite little subtle things is ho when the enemies are on patrol and haven't noticed you, They are absolutely just vibing. It has no real bearing on gameplay but just seeing these guys just walking around and chilling is something I missed.
One thing I really disliked is the sound effects, all the weapons sound like they are just toy guns, they sound very weak quiet and weak, not enough power or heaviness in the sounds
I don't like the warthog sound. 1: warthogs don't shift. They have CVTs according to Bungie 2: they're not sports cars. I like the distinct sound from the Bungie games, just the right tone.
@@Jaker788 I think the biggest crime they did to the warthog is change the wheel's suspension/underchassis. The Warthog's wheels used to be mounted like something akin to a mars rover, now it's just like a generic truck.
@@Jaker788 FINAlly someone said it, I agree so much with you. I feel like people just dont pay attention to detail when making things lol like the warthog sound, it sounds like a go kart engine lol and honestly im not a fan of the gas cannisters, thats functionnably such a bad design on a vehicle that gets fired at all the time lol.
Hey wait, i'm literally in this video. I'm glad you agreed on the color/lighting theory. Also i want to point out that brutes have veins in their hands and knuckles bones move sometimes. Having a bit more contrast, shows that they have different kind of freckles on their skin. I'm sure, i'm totally sure, that everything can be easily fixed. Both in somehow boosting already good textures and in color/lighting.
It's guns-up, so it's a lot harder to notice. That's a good thing, as that's the main gripe people have witb clamber. Totally cool with advanced movement, but don't let it get in the way of the subsecond combat loop
MRPIRATEFOX I think a majority of Halo fans care about what is being implemented into the game, whether they like it or not. I personally would prefer it not being in the game but I can live with it.
Sheriff Heck Equipment has been in the game since Halo 3. I’m completely fine with it as long as it’s balanced. And as much as I wish sprint wasn’t in the game, an open world Halo game would probably seem way too slow and boring for new players if you could only walk around an enormous Halo ring.
In this setting where humanity has been pushed into a corner with the Banished at it's doorstep Chief is perfect for this setting. He is the hope for humanity, they really got his character right in the demo. Only a few words is all we needed with all of his characterisation being through his actions fighting back against the Banished.
... i really hope its not a star wars sequal situation where there really isn’t enough build up to justify the “resistance” angle and the “out of nowhere(narratively speaking from halo 5) big enemy empire”
@@midshipman8654 True, whole time I've been trying to figure out how the hell we got from the end of halo 5 to the ring it's like we're missing something.
Jackson Almodobar Unlike the steaming pile of shit that is Disney Wars, there’s at least enough build up in the new Halo games to make it plausible that humanity lost (Cortana’s hostile Forerunner droid empire, the Banished who were already a dominant power in the galaxy, Chief having apparently gone missing in between 5 and Infinite).
Ayy Lmao ehh... felt the banished came out of nowhere in hw2. and they really didnt have much interesting to them besides being covenant but not covenant(so without the interesting religious bits), and red. they could probably justify cortana siding with them somehow, but it would be a stretch and its more likely they would try to make a human distopia instead of banished given its largely human ai’s. they could do it, but the elements seem to bit a bit too disconnected from the mainline story.
Honestly I love it, if I had been shown this when I was 7-12 playing halo 3 everyday I would have been so excited, my child brain would go crazy at the idea of a grapple hook.
Idk it's close competition with the endless sprinting from flood in the most repetitive map in the history of gaming. That mission is burned into my brain
Creative Dreams Good news, someone pointed out that in the trailer for a split second you can see Chief riding with marines in the passenger and gunner seat on a warthog! I don’t remember whether it was the demo or gameplay trailer but you can definitely see it!
The real question is why they would show off such an unfinished demo. I can only assume its cause we put so much pressure on 343. Thats probably why we didn't get any gameplay for so long.
I agree the presentation was a little off after Chief is done talking to the pilot, should have been more gameplay. And the lighting and texturing is off but that is more fixable than gameplay. The game looks fun. I want to say this a lot beacuse if the game isn't fun, doesn't have interesting story and characters, levels etc. then it doesn't matter how pretty the game looks. Despite the lighting and texture issues the art style looks good and clean. I am still excited to play.
It can be fixed, but in 4 months? They're also delaying ray tracing and making it a free update. If you thought H5 was bad for missing a lot of shit on launch, infinite is missing GRAPHICAL FIDELITY on launch. That's just absurd.
Cade Roman “because if the game isn’t fun, doesn’t have interesting story and characters, levels etc then it doesn’t matter how pretty the game looks” Someone should tell that to the guys who shat out The Last of Us 2.
@@ayylmao575 Sadly we are in a world where people will still heavily praise a game for looking good while still not improving the other aspects of the game so people get blind sided because they don't see it or feet it. TLOU2 is a great example.
For some reason it reminds me of Doom: Eternal. Movement, seeing Chief’s right arm pop out to do something cool, the wider more diverse weapons, the map, weapon upgrades (not seen but are confirmed to be in the game), and the diverse enemies give me those vibes. I hope this new direction attracts new players and succeeds where Halos 4 & 5 failed and resurrect the franchise to its full potential. It’s just a couple of months I suppose
I see no one talking about how Good the Frag Grenade explosion was. It was incredible and add plenty of colour and life to it! I’m just surprised that no one has mentioned it. Kinda sad.
While I'm apprehensive about the visual fidelity that was showcased, they seem to have absolutely NAILED the feeling and gameplay style of a Halo game. This, to me, is much more important than the visuals (in the demo) for a couple reasons. 1: visuals can always be continually iterated upon and improved without changing anything about how we play the game (assuming that visuals aren't so bad that its causing say, stutters and lag). 2: several 343 devs have pointed out that this is an old build of the game (I've been seeing it carbon-dated to January here and there but haven't seen anything with an actual date from an official source). The game is months away from release and I THINK (not a dev) that textures and such are much easier to improve in the amount of time left before release. The only other slightly worrying thing is reports that the new kinda... non-halo looking human guns are replacing old weapons? Which I would hate. But I dunno if I buy that. What with the old BR returning and the old sword I just have this kinda... gut feeling that they get it? To me, it seems that their modus operandi with this game is to add, not take away, from the sandbox. Now here's hoping that they didn't cut my precious plasma caster... Overall very, VERY excited. And confident that things will be on the up-and-up come release.
Something I noticed that I like is that, when a shade turret takes damage some pieces come off of it to reveal the pilot’s face, so you don’t always have to flank the turret
I really want the blood to attach decals to the ground, but 343 wants to keep this game T rated :( I also really hate the orange hexagons appearing when the shield recharges, it's so distracting.
Halo 2 and halo 3 flood segments deserved an M. Odst had tobacco use, audio logs depicting horrid deaths by the covenant and reach had this gritty war like tone that was aimed for older audiences. They all got their M rating for a reason
I just realised. The motion sensor says 31 metres instead of the classic 25. Since this number seems quite odd, I’m assuming that it could be a possible upgrade as shown in the map interface.
It's basically the mission Halo from CE, which is funny because about a year ago there was a fake troll trailer for Halo Infinite that used that exact level. This was the video: ua-cam.com/video/GhK3sIVi_tY/v-deo.html
The demo kinda left me conflicted On one hand, I felt like the weapons shown didn’t appear to have too much to separate them into unique roles. They looked more like standard FPS weapons that are more-so different flavors of the same thing rather than truly unique like the classic Halo sandbox. Also I felt like explosions should have more impact. If I toss a fusion coil at a shade turret, it should destroy it. On the other hand, it still looks like a damn good time. I was a little skeptical of the open world concept, but I’m warming up to it. Especially if it continues to divide into new levels and environments. The idea of an open world flood level just sounds awesome. Also, I LOVE seeing elites and brutes fight alongside each other. Especially now that it looks like sub-ranks look like they’re gonna have more presence than just different health, shields, and weapons. There’s definitely some room for improvement, but I feel like most of my problems are minor enough that they could potentially be tweaked by launch. In the immortal words of our favorite AI, “If I still had fingers, they’d be crossed”
I totally agree, especially with your point about weapons. The mangler seems like it's just a magnum dressed to look like a mauler. And on that note, the new UNSC pistol just looks very plain. The pulse carbine seems like it's just the Covenant equivalent of the battle rifle, which is pointless if there already is a battle rifle. I could go either way, but I'm not keen on both. Personally, instead of the pulse rifle, I feel like a more balanced compromise would be the return of the needle rifle. The new VK78 Commando seems to be just another assault rifle, but I'm hoping it's at least the human equivalent of the traditional carbine. I'm not 100% sure that my concerns are warranted until I know all the other weapons we can expect to see.
I'm concerned that after the lash back from Halo 4 that they're going to go too hard in the other direction of making John Halo super stoic and a living icon. I find that there was a genuine human element to him beneath the cold steel in the past. He would do funnies, and intentionally troll Cortana. And my impression was that he did cool one liners in tense situations to reassure other characters.
Paul Crooker (i think that's how you spell it?) Said that Chief will be the strong silent type but will be more vocal than the og halo's but less than H4. Makes sense considering Chief's relationship is different with Cortona than it is with the Pilot. Also emotion and character can be developed through actions and body language, sometimes too much vocalisation is a bad thing with any media
He did all that in Halo 1-3 also. He even said "boo" and scared a grunt in H2. Actually chief didn't change at all in H4, just the narrative framing did.
The quips and campy radio banter were so _good_ in CE, and I definitely want that back. Halo games since Reach have been so serious narratively that they kinda suck some of the fun out of playing them. For Reach, that kinda made sense, but 4 and 5 didn't need to take that route.
I haven’t seen anyone else say anything about this, but when chief shoots the second brute in its left leg after the armor falls off it stumbles with the shot leg. This could mean that brutes react differently depending on where they are shot.
Just from those few minutes, I already love Escharum's character. I love the idea of a warrior antagonist that repects your character as an equal opponent and is hyping you on for the final confrontation. The fact that he doesn't care about the outcome of the battle, but the legend it will create, as well is also interesting. Already have his (in my opinion) motivational dialogue as my desktop wallpaper. Though I do wonder how his character will progress through the game, hopefully he doesn't regress into a generic villain (looking at you Halo 5, you know what you did).
I'm surprised how many people I see that enjoyed Escharum. His appearance has been discussed to hell and back, but his speech just felt so generic and uninspiring. I enjoy the concept of a brute being excited to get to fight Chief instead of just mocking him, and the voice acting wasn't bad, but I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that whole scene
ya'll are entitled to your opinion but I think its mental. Watched the gameplay several times and I still get chills from his speech. Its fucking epic. He mocks humanity by saying fighting them wasn't difficult, and claims that their decimation and lack of challenge became tiresome. So the idea of fighting someone as renowned as the Chief is uplifting to the him, who are essentially space guerrilla vikings. Looking forward to hearing more from him. Set a fire in your hearts bros, I think you're being too critical.
I actually enjoyed the demo for the most part. But that last scene made me cringe so hard and actually made me worry about the writing of the game. He just seems... too much like a cheesey supervillain and cartoony. He seems like something out of an old superhero cartoon.
I hope that they keep some og unsc and covenant weapons like sniper, carbine and rocket launcher and try not to replace it with these weird destiny looking models
I'm gonna be honest, I didn't notice most of the graphical stuff until like a second or third viewing, and that was only after people had pointed those things out to me. I was too focused on the actual gameplay on showcase and GOD does it just look great and super fun, especially in comparison to 5. And while I hope they don't completely abandon the stuff they did have set up in 5, I'm glad the narrative is taking that spiritual reboot and bringing things down a notch. Especially in regards to the antagonists, because 4 and 5's main ones lacked a spark of charisma that made them compelling, something which Escharum IMMEDIATELY displays with how hype he gets at the idea at fighting the Chief. I'm really optimistic at how things are turning out, and even if the game graphically doesn't improve, which it almost certainly will since it's an earlier build and we're months out from launch, it's gonna be a really /fun/ game, which is what matters.
it's refreshing to see someone with an open mind and a more positive outlook on the demo, I am genuinely excited to play this game despite of potential graphics issues because it looks like everything I've loved about every halo game before it; a little more speed from 4 and 5, the expansive nature of CE, the good combat loop and free movement and choices from 2, the style of 3 I love it all, yes there are some issues that need a little fixing before release but overall it just looks very promising
I have a question. The Banished Brutes appear to be red and black and lack energy shields. However in the Banished Infantry they also have blue and cyan Brutes from Halo 3/ODST. The Brutes in those games had energy shields except in infinite they no longer have energy shields. Why did the Brutes loose their energy shields? I wonder if there’s a canon reason for this.
It's just nice to see someone talking about things other than the graphics. The gameplay looks very promising and I'm a lot more excited about the game than I was before. I really hope this game ends up being good.
I'm guessing one thing we can infer from the implications that Infinite is meant to be a platform for future campaign expansions, is that if this is the case, Guardians will 100% end up added to the MCC. That way you have two Halo games, and each acts as a platform for a different segment of the overall saga, completed with purchasable DLC.
I always appreciate how you balance positivity, constructive criticism, and complaints. One thing that really stood out for me i show grunts actually grab grenades off their belts. Thanks for the video.
I hope they let us customize the hud, because I like it when both the shield bar and ammo counter are together at the top of the screen, also it doesn’t look too great at the bottom because it competes for space with your weapon. It also seems like they tried to copy the style of the destiny 1 ammo and grenade counter * edited for clarity *
I wish that there was a health bar in Halo Infinite, I feel health packs would really incentivize exploration like how in Halo CE it forces you to look for alternate routes where you often extra guns and supplies along with the health packs
One of the coolest things I've noticed is the new weapons arnt replacing the old weapons. since 343 took over the new designs such as the shotgun scorpion and rocket launcher were trying to replace the old designs, but now the pistol is the sidekick not the magnum and the bulldog isn't the classic pump action. These new weapons arnt the old designs so can coexist with the old designs The biggest evidence to support the coexistence is the 3shot carbine and the br fill the same purpose yet still exist together.
Sadly, the new shotgun is replacing the old classic shotgun. I hope that the classic could still survive but would be more powerful, has more range, but has more recoil and slower rate of fire.
@@arandomelite5448 If you read what I typed, I said that I hope (ie keeping an open mind) that the classic can come back and have different stats to the new shotgun implying that they both will have interesting playstyles. The new shotgun can put out more pellets faster, yet are weaker (easier gameplay, but not as rewarding on skill) ,but the old shotgun can put out pellets slower, yet are much more damaging (playing more skillful gameplay). The community and I have had problems with 343I replacing classic gun models with their new versions (H5 rocket launcher, H5 BR, H5 Magnum, etc.) which no one asked for (look at LNG's video). After much backlash they finally put them in. Why have you already decided that the classic is going to be in when there's no proof, but IGN has confirmation from 343I that it won't be in and has replaced it (unless Microsoft makes profit from it, then it absolutely will be in). Are you shilling for 343I ironically, or rationalizing bad moves from 343I?
Another thing I see a lot of people criticize 343I for is the graphical quality of what's shown. I'm okay with lower quality graphics if the work is substituted for other things like having a much more massive explorable environment, more advanced AI, destructible environments, top tier story/storytelling/lore/etc., excellent audio and use of it, etc. Minecraft is an excellent example of not having great, but powerdraining graphics, but making it up in other areas, people can accept it (enough so that MS bought it for $2.5 billion) and embrace it (copycats galore on the Minecraft style). If 343I can't do those things and has low quality graphics (which I hope is not the case for Infinite), then that's wasted potential and resources.
Honestly, I really like Brohammer so far. He's my new favorite Halo character, probably because of the fact that he's a pilot (and I am obsessed with fighter pilots/have absolute respect for them)! Also, he flies my fav Halo vehicle (that being the Pelican)
@@Slender_Man_186 I have no ace combat games at the moment, and I probably won't for awhile (money is tight atm). I did have AC6 for the 360, but that 360 is not coming back sadly.
11:13 Omg the phtoshopped one is just....perfect, exactly has that halo 1 mood i loved and its fking amazing, i am qure as hell modders will do an amazing job on fixing infinite
I've got mixed feelings. I think the open world could be cool but I'm concerned if the campaign will all feel like in the same environment if we spend the whole/majority of the campaign on the ring. The thing I like about previous games is each level is in a different environment and has a different feel to it. Also the other thing is I'm not sure how well Halo will translate to a open world game. With many open world games I've played there is a strong incentive to uncover the whole map with loot, interest points, side missions, experience, etc. I think having open level design is good but I'm not sure Halo will translate well to a game that is open world and not levels anymore, especially if the map is too drawn out. I'm not saying anything for sure or trying to be negative.I'm just stating some concerns I had. Overall, I really enjoyed the video and agree with the positives you mentioned.
It's such a breath of fresh air to see a video that's mostly positive and made excellent points that no one else seems to have noticed but also has critiques that are actually constructive rather than just summing it up to "graphics/textures are bad = the whole game is bad."
Since you mentioned the amount of blood there is in Infinite, it reminds me of the amount of blood CE had. Then after CE the blood was toned down significantly.
Best take on the demo so far. You're always really fair and level headed with your criticism and never come across as being "toxic" as some people say. Always love your videos!
One thing that is annoying is that when you shoot certain weapons at enemy's you can see a really cartoony bull tracer right in front of them, i hope i can turn this off in the settings. 7:40 is an example
OH MY GOD SOMEONE ELSE FINALLY SAYS IT TOO!!!!! This absolutely was the first thing that seriously bugged me about this demo watching it live, not to mention the plastic look along with the lack of ANY blood...
The demo just feels off for me. The moment i saw aesthetic it looked like halo wars, you could tell it was halo but not looking right. the new guns i hope aren't replacements. they feel very under detailed. the enemies all feel flat, and while i know its the lighting that causes it, with a game like halo you can't avoid indoor or out of light fighting. And the colouring also feels off, given that we are fighting banished i expected angry red and steel on the enemies. But some brutes have blue armor (halo 3-esque) and others have very, as you said, toy like red. Which feels slightly jarring. The guns all look meaty and the gameplay looks fun. But the graphics issues are worrying, as is why they would use an older demo.
@@Slender_Man_186 I like the VK gun they showed in the demo but it looked a bit too much like destiny. Really dug the shotgun, looked pretty unique, they need the other one as well.
Rishav Roy if they wanted to make a new Shotgun, I feel like taking design elements from the Pancor Jackhammer would’ve been a better call. As for the VK, a UNSC weapon that’s not bullpup just looks... off.
i personally like the way the banished look kinda like toys cause it makes them pop out of the environment quite well and makes them seem kinda reminiscent of ce's covenant design.
I think the thing is wasn’t the $500 million thing a rumor? Also people need to remember if this is true, this money didnt only into campaign. Think they still have to show us multiplayer, theater, forge, and possibly firefight/war zone.
My main irks are everything looking too clean / plasticky, the lighting, and draw distance. Not enough blood splatter, the bodies despawning way too quickly as whoever is playing tries to never look in the same location of the dead bodies, but was caught in a frame or two of looking back and the bodies of a brute and two grunts were gone, with no blood left behind to indicate they were there in the first place only the weapons were left. And last but not least the graphics / textures. Oh and the color schemes of some of the armors: the brutes, elites, and grunts colors look too new and show no wear and tear whatsoever; they didn't look battle hardened and or realistic, more like toys. I know these are a lot of complaints, but allegedly this build was from January of 2020 or December of 2019. So by that logic hopefully most of these problems are already fixed. Otherwise if this is the most recent build of the game the company, whether it be Microsoft or 343 definitely needs to accept that it has to be delayed or be made a laughingstock if it launches in this state or a state similar to this. I may sound rude here but it would be almost a slap to the face if a $500 million dollar game that took 5, almost 6 years to make launched like this. I honestly couldn't care less about the new weapons, abilities, and sprint. I personally like them I feel a game needs to keep on adding new mechanics and features to stay fun, exciting, and relevant, otherwise it'll just stagnate and become bland or boring because it refused to change or adapt. I can never understand why so many Halo fans I encounter hate sprint with a passion I've been playing since combat evolved and those games seem to take too long to complete if you're just walking everywhere, ( Halo 1 especially even though in that game that's the fastest Cheif walks ). Granted in Halo 1-3 you walked much faster than you did in reach, 4, and 5, because the armor abilities or sprint was already a mechanic of those games, but still I think sprint is just a natural progression, I mean hell Halo 2 and Halo 3 originally featured sprint, but Bungie ended up cutting it due to time constraints for both games not because it ruined the flow of the game. I would think that if Bungie had the time and technology they would've put / kept sprint in Halo 2 and 3. Anyway that's just my two cents.
I can already tell I'm going to LOVE Infinite. Exploring was always my favorite part of the Halo games and the levels would take me almost an hour or even more because after every fight or every corner turned I would go back and look around the rubble for a skull or a terminal or one of those funny monkey people. The amount of time I'll spend exploring Infinite's ring is immeasurable.
The gameplay looks very, very good "But the graphics" go look at the halo CE, halo 2 and halo 3 demo and compare with the final product, also, digital foundry say that is a problem with the light and not the textures, so isn't that hard to fix
Lighting is a foundational choice you make at the beginning of production. You're basically saying they'll rip out an entire lighting system and put in a new one towards the end of production. The only saving grace they have is ray tracing for the series x and PC. But it's all up to how they implement it and it's performance impact. All the betas for Bungie games were the same lighting wise. There's even leaked production builds of Halo 1, beta builds of Halo 2 and 3. They didn't change any lighting from beta to release. The thing you might be thinking of is the Halo 2 E3 demo in 2003 on an engine which was scrapped because of the stencil shadows, delaying the game by a year to re do.
halo 2 and 3 looked much better in beta than in the final release. Halo 2 dropped stencil shadows entirely, and Halo 3 beta had beautiful reflective spartan armor that had to be scrapped for minimally reflective matte armor (that was the beginning of the "plastic" look").
@@b1zzler The stencil shadows weren't beta. That was still production and a rare circumstance that delayed the game by a year. If you want to see the Halo 2 beta the vengeful vadam has shown off the builds on UA-cam.
@@cophfe Of course it wouldn't require a full rewrite, I didn't say that about infinite. But lighting is an early choice. The type of global illumination technique they choose isn't something they're gonna change last minute in production. The final 6 months of production is bug squashing, play testing and tweaking, multiplayer tests and balancing nowadays is the biggest point of focus near the end. Graphics at this point should be finished, even in a months old build. Think about it. The game is on its final stretch. Changing something like lighting, tweaking and testing the look. It's not something they have time for, they have a lot of other stuff to do to ship a complete and stable game. Programmers have bugs to fix, not new lighting systems to try and implement. The only thing that's getting added for lighting is ray tracing for PC and Series X, and we don't know how much they'll use or the downsides it will have to performance. There's still the detail pop in as well, on a PC build no less, that should be an easy settings fix at least for PC.
One of the best reviews I've seen about the Halo Infinite Demo. Very professional and to the point. This is why I subscribed and will look forward for future content and reviews.
@@fruze8478 Oh wow, good spot - sounds promising especially with the specific reference to the "lighting/shaders/textures".

It looks identical to Halo 2's magnum. And the magnum was changed in almost every halo game

THEdiamond23 yeah it gives me a headache
I don't really mind it though I hope they introduce a customizable hud

new shotgun replacing the classic halo shotgun. I’m really hoping this isn’t the case.
I wouldn't believe IGN to tell me the sky was blue
They’re probably just weapon variants, 343 has learned the lessons of redesigns; the classic shotgun is too good to just abandon. So my personal belief is that we’ll be seeing both types of shotguns.
CaptainE2000 yeah ign is known for both getting stuff wrong and pretty much making crap up

The front of the wheel gets blown off when the warthog runs over the grenade. The destructable armor is a nice touch and I like the particle effects.

@@megaman37456 A demo shown within months of release, when very little can be done to change the game in any really significant way.
The demo kinda left me conflicted
On one hand, I felt like the weapons shown didn’t appear to have too much to separate them into unique roles.
I think we will definitely see him run into some character development with that pilot
@@neomcdoom I just hope the pilot will get to see his wife and kids again
I haven’t seen anyone else say anything about this, but when chief shoots the second brute in its left leg after the armor falls off it stumbles with the shot leg. This could mean that brutes react differently depending on where they are shot.
*sees flying suicide grunts*
Random marine: OH THEY FLY NOW?
brohammer: they fly now!?
Master chief: they fly now!
Its not a suicide grunt that was yeet yap the destroyer of worlds
While funny in this context. That was one of the stupidest lines in TRoS.
@@CRAM079 Yeah, in this context it actually makes sense.
Grunt: SCREW YOOOOUUUU!!! *explodes*
@@CRAM079 Exactly, that's why it's memeable. So bad it's good
Just from those few minutes, I already love Escharum's character.
All good points, thank you, for once we have a UA-camr that doesn't outright just look at all the negative but also the positive. Good work bud👌
a lot of youtubers have been looking at the positives, some are ignoring the negatives entirely
" How much personality these enemies have"
Brutes: 0_0
-----
I'm surprised how many people I see that enjoyed Escharum.
Atriox is sooo much badass and charismatic!
I actually enjoyed the demo for the most part. But that last scene made me cringe so hard and actually made me worry about the writing of the game. He just seems... too much like a cheesey supervillain and cartoony. He seems like something out of an old superhero cartoon.
Yeah I seriously can't help but cringe at the speech I don't really care for the guy
Hopefully they'll properly compress the game's data if they do that. If not, MCC will be well over 200 gb.
Not true, the shotgun is replacing the classic one
@@LOUDcarBOMB I mean how many screw-up does ign make daily? Keep an open mind even if it doesn't instantly return i see the classic shotty returning.
That photosopped image looked incredible!! Hope that they can change the textures and lighting before launch
Honestly, I really like Brohammer so far. He's my new favorite Halo character, probably because of the fact that he's a pilot (and I am obsessed with fighter pilots/have absolute respect for them)! Also, he flies my fav Halo vehicle (that being the Pelican)
Yeah, he’s also just really well voice acted and seems cool.
Tell me, do you know of the 118th Tactical Fighter Squadron ‘Mobius’?
@@Slender_Man_186 Is it from Ace Combat?
Phantom-051-plane guy yup, you know. You have Ace Combat 7 on Xbox?
@@Slender_Man_186 I have no ace combat games at the moment, and I probably won't for awhile (money is tight atm). I did have AC6 for the 360, but that 360 is not coming back sadly.
One thing I loved was that when a brutes leg was shot you could see him stumble! I thought it was a really nice level of detail
11:13 Omg the phtoshopped one is just....perfect, exactly has that halo 1 mood i loved and its fking amazing, i am qure as hell modders will do an amazing job on fixing infinite
I don't remember the footage having so much motion blur... and I love it
I've got mixed feelings.
Tbf Hale CE was also on one ring with two exceptions.
Halo CE was largely open world as well, and Halo has always had collectibles that encouraged deeper exploration.
It's such a breath of fresh air to see a video that's mostly positive and made excellent points that no one else seems to have noticed but also has critiques that are actually constructive rather than just summing it up to "graphics/textures are bad = the whole game is bad."
It’s refreshing how you’re looking out for the good rather than the bad. Thanks.
Since you mentioned the amount of blood there is in Infinite, it reminds me of the amount of blood CE had. Then after CE the blood was toned down significantly.
the brutes look less scary than the ones in halo 3 TF.
I love that we(chief) is Humanity's only chance against a new enemy (banished) It gives me serious Halo combat evolved vibes.
Halo looks fine, just needed a bit more time in the pot before being shown.
Best take on the demo so far. You're always really fair and level headed with your criticism and never come across as being "toxic" as some people say. Always love your videos!
I want to walk to a corpse, smack it and see large amounts of blood shoot out, like in Halo CE. I always missed that.
Same.
I miss T bagging bodies causing them to lift in the air
I love the enthusiasm in your voice with this lol this game is really getting me excited
@@MasonJason310 Uh, did you watch the video? There was a ton of blood.
Near the end of the brutes speech (which was epic) his shoulder movement made it look like he was patting our shoulders.
They used Halo Wars 2 to model a lot of the art style.
Seriously, what’s up with the Destiny reject AR and revolving Shotgun.
As for the VK, a UNSC weapon that’s not bullpup just looks... off.
@@paterson90 which worked for a top down RTS, but it doesn't convey a halo feel for me. Especially if they are trying to in corporate CE.
I love the way it looks. CE cross 3, that’s a win for me.
i personally like the way the banished look kinda like toys cause it makes them pop out of the environment quite well and makes them seem kinda reminiscent of ce's covenant design.
The last video I saw from you was your “ I have “it”” video and I’m glad to see you’re still alive so that’s great
I know you're trying to be optimistic but I'm extremely nervous about this game. This doesn't look like $500 million dollars worth of development.
I think the thing is wasn’t the $500 million thing a rumor? Also people need to remember if this is true, this money didnt only into campaign. Think they still have to show us multiplayer, theater, forge, and possibly firefight/war zone.
StormyM15 it wasn’t a rumor, thing is, this game is extremely big but people are nervous about 8 min gameplay that just needs some lighting tweaks lol
that brute cutscene at the end gave me the chills man
The poor pilot just wants to see his wife and kid.
Thanks for making me feel more optimistic! I just hope the sprint gets omitted from multiplayer.
The complaint about the elites not having wear and tear has never been in a Halo game ever. They always looked "clean" and honestly, I'm fine with it.
The gameplay looks very, very good
"But the graphics" go look at the halo CE, halo 2 and halo 3 demo and compare with the final product, also, digital foundry say that is a problem with the light and not the textures, so isn't that hard to fix
@@Jaker788 you are not smart. They can change lighting without rewriting every single goddamm line of code. You should feel bad.
halo 2 and 3 looked much better in beta than in the final release.
Glad someone finally mentioned the big ship that looks like can be explored that was probably one of the most exciting things to me
11:15 I liked the photoshopped image better until I looked at the assault rifle and now I want to punch something.
