So appreciative of your integrity! I have been reselling jewelry for about one year and to my knowledge have not come across ivory but have found many pieces made of bone. Thanks to your educational videos, both past and present, I know how to identify both.
OMGOSH!! I bought ivory at an Estate sale, not knowing it was Ivory! I have not listed it but started to several times but didn’t know what it was. Something kept telling me not to!!! Thank you so much for this video. I share your thoughts and passion for the elephants. 😢
Excellent info that all online resellers, in fact ALL RESELLERS, should be aware of + probably most are. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I purchased what I think is an ivory bracelet in an online auction, hoping it was bone. Now with your help, I will recheck it against the markings you described + if it is indeed Ivory it will be donated to a conservation group. So sad + cruel that poaching continues today!!!
Excellent video. Passing on these incredibly important nuggets of information to others is priceless! 52 years ago my brother who was in the navy stationed in Vietnam during the war came back home and brought me a pair of ivory elephant shaped earrings that he purchased while in Vietnam. I was a pre-teen then and I still have those earrings all these years later. My brother passed away 38 years ago and I keep them in a shadow box with a few other special items that I cherish from other ancestors and family who have passed on.
I’m studying this video like my life depends on it. I got some crochet hooks in a huge sewing lot at auction that I suspect may be made of ivory. I know it wasn’t deliberate because of the huge variety of things that were in this estate lot, but I don’t want to list them and get banned!
Ironically, I came across your video because I just found at a thrift store that same jewelry box you store your ivory pieces in. I was trying to identify the white inlays. Would they be celluloid?
I just started reselling and I have a necklace that I’m pretty sure is ivory. What is the link for the conservation that is anti-poaching, I want to donate.
I made the mistake of putting the word ivory to describe a shirt color. I immediately got a message saying the pulled my listing and I needed to fix the wording

Thanks for sharing. I love to sell jewelry not very good at identifying most things but I want to learn as much as I can. I appreciate your teaching!

Thank you for such great information.
How much does ivory normally cost? Just wondering for future for my children on holding it. I will Not be selling it. Just curious, please
How much do you typically pay back at taxe time? Is it possible to deduct enough to not pay anything? Thank you
