I got them at Amazon, the hardware is a bit cheap, but you can grab new hardware at a local hardware store. I would not go more than 45lbs, I ended buying some more higher end ones for much more money and took them off because these were better fitted and closed / opened better in my opinion. PAMAGOO 10 inch Gas Strut(Qty 4) 45 lbs 200 N Per Prop, Gas Spring Shock with Screws and Accessories for Cabinet, Tool Box, Lid Stay, Door Stay, Lid Support, Light Equipment(Dark Gray)
yes you can, I got mine directly from Ranger, it didn't match up perfectly though, when I had the gas line recall they Cabela's scratched the crap out of the back of the boat near the cap, I sprayed it and it never matched the way I wanted, on little scratches and nicks I spray it into the cap and take a qtip to apply.
As your sitting in the boat looking at the back it’s mounted on the left side of the box, had to modify / cut the bracket a little bit , tried a few spots but my lines were in the way, left side was best
@@reelpatriotsfishing6286 thank you talking the battery compartment .Looks like there is no room to mount it .The lip on the lid takes up that little space that is there.
Yeah, that lip is tiny you have to modify the mount , I cut mine in half, and it’s not perfect. Send me an email at Chad.roberts80@gmail and I will send you a pic of it.
Hello Chad, what length and # strut is on your big box on front deck i put on a 10" 33 lb and it closes way to fast.I also used a 10" 22.5 lb with same results. The 33lb helped a little do you think i need to go with higher # .Thanks again
Enjoyed the video! I have a 2021 white RT178 w/75 hp. My first boat. I haven’t had the gas cap replaced yet. You are right, it takes forever to fill up. Would you say it’s make a big difference once it’s been replaced?
Thanks for the review and ideas. Dad has a RT178 and I have been wanting to add struts and few things for him. For the front seat post, did you get one that screws in, or goes into the original seat post?
I have a 2021 RT178 same problems but overall love the boat. There were 3 recalls right away and the fuel filling issue was supposed to be resolved with one. I still have the issue. btw, supposed to be a 21gal fuel tank. Filling up is the only real complaint I have. I'm going to look into a smaller tank because it looks like the hose from the filler to the tank dips down below the 90 on top of the tank.
Hey brother awesome boat and great review. Very nice set up. It looks like it fits nicely in your garage. I have a standard 2 car garage that's 19ft deep and the doors are 95 inches wide. What is the overall length and width on the trailer?
@@reelpatriotsfishing6286 thanks bro. The width would work but I would need go corner to corner or make sure the tongue folds and trim the motor down. To try and get closer to the length I need.
No it does not, if it’s under warranty I’d go back to dealer and have them check it. I also think those consoles are a little different than the 178 . Good luck
Whatchya smokin? My go to is a CAO flathead 660...im thinking you gotta nub maduro..just a bit too long, looks like a 55+ gauge...great vid BTW im looking at a RT188 right now
Stealthy looking boat. Most of the water is most likely coming in through the latches. Try sealing them better where they go into the lid. That is the problem I have on my triton.
Heck of a job with the review. Just picked up a 2017 RT 178 and was able to pick up some items and really like the gas struts you added. thank you.
I appreciate it , great little boat and can't beat the price !
What is the PN for the Gas Struts

Great video the gas shock great idea I been looking at the 178c
Great boats, I love mine , still going strong !
Those letters are awesome! I just bought a 2018 rt198 and soooo happy with it. Great video Brother!
Thanks, I love the way they turned out and saved a ton of money for those baits we always need!
What are the green arrows for in the thumbnail?
I just took the decals off my ranger vs 1682. I saw the same lettering and planed on ordering.
I like these much better than the OEM ones
Thanks so much - are you still happy?
Yes I still have the boat and take it out almost every weekend. Been perfect for what do.
Do you know if you can get touch up paint for the RT 178 Grey color like yours. I have a 2023 new 178 need a small area touched up

Boat looks clean! We gotta go fishing again
Anytime buddy !!!

I used 10” - 45lbs , I like the 45 lbs because it keeps it propped a little better for my liking.
@@reelpatriotsfishing6286 it doesnt slam down real fast
Mine doesn’t

No it didn’t make a big difference for me, it’s a little better but not much!
21 gallon

It screws into the original seat post. The struts are a really nice addition and have saved me a few rods for sure!
Do you have a link to the letters from Amazon?

Yeah I went through the recall and don’t think it made much of a difference , fueling up on the water is even worse ! Tight lines!

It's over 19 feet long , almost 22 , and 7'8" wide outside tire to outside tire.

Drill new seat holes for seat adjustment or add a sliding rail under seat and that will get some height also
That’s a great idea , thanks
Some of the water comes through the latches also
Yeah I’m going to seal those this year
How does it ride in choppy water
It does great, sits between chop well. The shortness of the boat helps , I can run big lakes like Smith Mountain Lake without any issues
@@reelpatriotsfishing6286thanks for the info
Does your console have some up/down movement? I just bought a rt188c and the console has some movement.

@@reelpatriotsfishing6286 okay thanks. It's a new 2022 that I just picked up last week..
Yeah if you think it’s excessive best to get dealer to look at it, should be covered under warranty.

I usually smoke chillin moose or nub. Thanks for the support on the channel. These boats are very versatile and best bang for your buck.
Make a better trailer and better hull for higher HP
