Oh.. wow. I live in Glasgow,ky. I'm like 20 min from there lol. It's a beautiful park. That's my go to place to just spend the day and relax. A lot of trails to walk. It's so pretty especially during the fall! But they have a tour that goes a quarter of mile in its like 5 bucks. They other tours that last like 6 hrs and that's intermediate tho. But the cave stays cool yr round. Also, you can see all the deer and turkeys. I recommend anyone who is in the area to go to mammoth cave. 😊❤

After you crossed the ferry, you keep going. Follow the signs to the “horse camping area”. 2 left turns to go past the horse camp. Then the the road turns to gravel and winds through the woods of Mammoth Cave. It takes you to the second ferry across the Green River (also free), past the high school and dead ends into a Dairy Queen! Turn left to get back to park entrance/interstate. You missed it! Do not miss Kentucky Down Under

Mammoth Cave is not for the fluffy! Especially the section that's called fat man's misery. My husband got me to go down there even though I thought it was on the New Madrid fault line. He told me no, but it was!
That staircase was as tall as a forest ranger's tower.

I remember going to mammoth cave when I was little. My oldest brother was 13 years older than me. He held me over the endless pit thinking it was funny! Scared the holy shit out of me! That had to have been in the early 70s. I can't remember anything else about the cave!

Me and a couple of friends did the historic tour about a month ago. My first time there, though I've lived about an hour away for the past 25 yrs.. only part I didn't like was climbing the firetower steps at the end of the cave tour, due to acrophobia. Looking forward to going back to some of the other tourist traps in cave city.

Family day trips, school field trips and church outings took me to Mammoth Cave so many times as a youth and young adult that I felt like I could lead a group on the historic tour just as well as any of the paid guides. The first time I went through Fat Man's Misery I was a skinny kid. The last time I was a "mature' adult and had to go through sideways. The rocks are highly polished on either side of that path and I think I added to the shine my last time through. lol

I am curious about something and I do not intend for this to be a mean spirited question. If a morbidly obese person had intentions of taking the tour, would a staff member perhaps take them aside and tactfully recommend that this excursion might not be for them?

It kind of looks like the road washed out a long time ago, and for some reason they decided the car ferry was cheaper than building a bridge.

Wow... I have to say the audio pickup ability of that camera is rather impressive; I could hear every word the guide was saying even in the cave, which is hardly the ideal acoustic environment... pretty dark, though; couldn't see much. Still looks like fun, though. 👍
Bands used to advertise with graffiti in 1855?! That's actually pretty interesting, particularly as graffiti is generally thought of as a modern phenomenon...
Aw, the deer nursing in the road! I love deer; they're my favorite animal. That was so sweet! ❤️
You think that ferry felt strange? Try the Englishtown Ferry here; that thing ROCKS something fierce, particularly on a windy day...
That Outlaw Tours van looked genuinely dilapidated... the rear tire looks a little flat... 😬
    Whoa... cloudburst...

I watched a movie with my husband the other night called , " As Above So Below " . Just watching that movie made me feel claustrophobic . When I was younger it didn't bother me , but now I don't think I could walk through a cave . Just watching you Jacob made me take a few breaths . LOL!! I have never seen a car ferry just for a flooded road before and I've never seen water in a carton . You learn something new everyday . Thanks Jacob for another great video !! Oh and BTW I love watching Kristy's campfire live stream. She's so sweet !! Hope you all have great 4th of July !!!!

Went to Mammoth Cave last year with a coworker when we were in the area... I LOVED it. I think the biggest thing you have to take into consideration is that everything was created by nature's hands. Other than the Saltpeter mine, and few remnants of bygone human activity, it's truly a wonder to behold when you realize that it took millions of years to be carved out.
