Hi, I'm so glad to hear about the zone update. My zone was 8b, but now it's considered zone 9. I live in southern Mississippi and have been planting zone 9 plants for several years now. Love your show.❤
Hi @evahaynes4438 !! 👋👋 Thank you for saying that and interesting to know you are one of the gardens that had the change. That's really fun, too, that you have been planting the zone 9 plants for years before the change. Thank you for watching our show and let us know if there are any topics you'd like us to cover. 👍👍 Oh, and make sure to watch out next Weekly Roundup in a few days!
I'm catching up on your videos. I work shows and our venues have been busier than usual this year- then I went to stay with my Mom for Christmas. I've been looking forward to your report on the zones! You made me feel better about my Hyacinths coming up already, so thank you for that! I was bumped up to 8b from 8a and boy has there been a difference in temperature! I did plant some Crocus, Daffodil and Tulip bulbs and I'm hoping they can stratify properly! I ended up putting my remaining bulbs into a box in the fridge and plan on planting them in March. At least I know they will stratify in there. We've only gotten down to 32 once this winter and that's not normal. Usually we would've had to drip our faucets several times by this time in December! We've been between 40's and low 60's during the day and mostly 40's at night. We have some upper 30's coming up at night, but not enough to prime our bulbs for germination in the spring. My rose bush is still blooming and my VA Spiderwort is as well! NOT normal...haha! I'm waiting to prune back my rose bush until it stops blooming, but I dunno when that will be at this point. As for the garden gifts, I'd pick the raised bed. I only have one and need more for the places where I'm unable to dig because of gas and water lines. I have all the tools I need, and since learning how to harvest seeds- I have HUNDREDS of seeds from different plants...haha! I LOVE harvesting seeds so much! Probably too much. Yeah- I need more raised beds and a bigger yard at this point...haha! I even got some Muhly grass seeds! I think I told you that already though. The Edimentals- I was surprised to find out how many edible plants I have! I just got some Viola Cornutas and found out they're also edible! I have the wild violets coming up (that I didn't plant), the violas, daylillies, ginger lillies (can eat the rhizomes), Galium Aparine (Cleavers), and I do get Dandelions which my son loves to make tea from. I plan on making a really good salad out of some of them next year. I apologize for always writing really long comments! haha! I just love your channel so much and you always leave me with a lot of thoughts. Thank you for offering such great information! I hope you have a very happy new year and look forward to another year of your videos :)
Hi Sean and Allison, Sandy’s friend, Vona from Cheyenne , Wyoming! In this high altitude, 6500 ft, very dry, what can I grow here that will keep on growing? This soil is clay and porous, should I stick to container growing?
Not a fan of the form of open English roses.....thus some of these...I know alot of the cookie cutter you tube garden channels love David Austin Roses......I dont....I'll stick to my Hybrid Teas, Grandifloras, Floribundas, Climbers, and Miniature Roses. Love that form. So many great plants. 2024 will bring us many great options!!! ❤JACKSON & PERKINS❤WEEKS ROSES❤❤
