Because she insists on being backed up and managed by people who do not want her famous. Don't forget that the moment Stone Pony was dumped she became famous.
I've been listening to Jerry Jeff for over 50 years now and heard this song done by many, none did it better than Jerry Jeff. AJ and the band do it justice. I love the song anywhere, anytime.
*_That was MARVELOUS !_* First a real BIG KUDOS and HUGE THANK YOU to the photographer, videographer, video editor and all others responsible for the creation of this music video. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. To all the members of the band I applaud you! Outstanding job take a bow! AJ you were wonderful as always. You are a true artist. Thanks to all of you for sharing your talents with us!
I always loved that Jerry Jeff Walker song. I remember when David Bromberg was Jerry Jeff's guitar player way back when. They tore it up. Noe this song is a staple in Bromberg's shows. AJ, you guys do a beautiful job with it.
If you only have two minutes to spare for watching this -- first of all, think about reshuffling your priorities before the stress kills you (or worse... e.g., leads to a major stroke that leaves your brain in a less-than-human state...) -- then I would recommend using those two minutes to watch starting from around 3:00, for a stunningly beautiful original arrangement of material that began as a startingly simple guitar-strummed country song by Jerry Jeff Walker, before the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band popularized it, and then Sammy Davis Jr. brilliantly immortalized it through an entirely different interpretation than the one with which AJ Lee, Jesse, Isacc, Sully and Sam have enriched our world as posted here.
Great job ! A wonder full Classic kept ALIVE 🤠😍 just Had to pull out my Blues Harp and jam along ❤🩹THANK YOU KIDS❣ you made this old hippy HAPPY 🍁🎶🎻🪕♥
I'm always impressed with the obvious respect you show for all the music you play, especially that of other composers. That combined with the incredibly talented musicians that share the stage, speaks volumes about your talent & standing in that community. Thanks for sharing this & all the best.
Beautiful arrangement to a classic song - gives such a lift when listened to - bought the CD - took a few days to reach here London, UK but so worth the wait, haven't stopped playing it - maybe the future might see you play in the U.K. in the meantime thanks for posting all the video's now a big fan - all the very best Jonjo
Just recently finding your videos. Great voice, Great band. You’ve got me as a regular now. I loved your Sugar Moon as well. Going to continue looking for more. Thanks
AJ Lee & Blue Summit,,, mate, you are a newcomer to our "Auckland New Zealand " Shores, Welcome to the Southern Hemisphere.. Lovely harmonies and nice playing by the boys
So beautiful, it's almost too poignant to take, Dear AJ. Saw Jerry Jeff perform this at The Main Point in '68 or '69 - many times there, actually - often with David Bromberg. Would be wonderful if you and Blue Summit would work up a version of "My Old Man".
I never liked this song when it came out on the radio in the 70's? But this arrangement is masterful. The rhythm and tempo are slightly altered, the strings mixing it up add gorgeous texture, the tight harmonies are perfect, the pure clear direct vocal of AJ Lee soars. This version brings out the true pathos of this classic Americana song.
I'm guessing the version you didn't like so much was by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...? Have to admit, it wasn't my favorite. "Over-produced", I would call it...
Haha! it's been a "thing" to deal with. Comment wars have almost been started with people thinking I am she or that she is me. Funny, I don't think we look alike in the least.
I, also, thank you for this upload. I heard on the news today some horrific action that bothered me to the core. It got me SO mad that the things I would do to that perp, all would agree, would be justified. But I just wanted to say, thank you for the song upload. Even though I didn't listen to the lyrics, the feel of the song really calmed me down, and so I thank you for that. My new resolution starting tonight, is to not read and watch the news, and cut that unnecessary, negative influence out of my life. Cheers, and hoping everything is well.
I can’t imagine going to a restaurant and AJ Lee and Blue Summit come out to perform. I would be giddy like a kid in the 60’s seeing The Beatles.
And in Moss Landing, CA no less. That's a tiny place, off Hwy 1. Quiet, small, sweet community.
AJ Lee has one of the most beautiful voices in the music industry. I love how she sings with such passion.
Her understated performance is so classy .... and the band is simply smooth as butter.
Each time I hear this song covered by someone new, I have this irrational hope that the dog won't die. You have broken my heart again.
I still cry about the dog...😢
@@marioct130 He up and died. **sniff**
Why isn't she the most famous singer in the world?
Amen!
I just discovered her recently covering Harvest Moon and wow, I'm blown away
She is pretty famous!! We know of her in Adelaide Sth Australia!!
Because she insists on being backed up and managed by people who do not want her famous. Don't forget that the moment Stone Pony was dumped she became famous.
Good question!
Reminds my of my wife and dating. Been married 46 years and still love that song.👍👍👍
