Operating a crane requires a lot of skill and knowledge and a operator must also have instinct. You have to know what the crane is capable of in each possible scenario. I have seen too many amateur crane operators topple crane and fold booms.
I was pretty nervous watching the fiasco they were doing. Not having the outriggers extended while trying to lift the machine is the biggest mistake you can make. Then lifting with the boom and not the cable. It’s a miracle they didn’t tip it or brake anything. On the bright side they did have 30 foot tag lines, so I guess the riggers had enough sense to stay far away from that thing.
@@badbatch974 My uncle owns a decent sized crane rental service with around 10 cranes ranging in size from 20 ton all the way up to 150 ton and I worked for my uncle on and off since I was a teenager and I occasionally still fill in when something happens and he needs another operator or rigging supervisor.
Back when I was like 16 I was on a job and a new operator who supposedly had 30 years experience operating cranes folded a boom on a 40 ton grove crane. He was at a terrible angle and fully extended and attempted to walk the load which meant lifting the outriggers and moving the crane while carrying the load. Before anyone could stop him the load starting swinging from moving on uneven terrain and the boom folded. Modern cranes all have load computers that will stop the operator from doing something stupid, they take into account the weight of the lift using hydraulic pressure and the angle of the boom and point of extension of the boom. Cranes do make all sorts of creaking noises when lifting near capacity and that is where instinct comes in and knowing that crane and how it feels when lifting loads like that.
@@shawnchurch316 then you of all people should know that cranes are very capable of destroying themselves and everything around them in a hurry if not operated correctly. Tim Gentry is a damn good driver/operator but unless he gets some coaching and seat time not to mention a whole lot of maintenance on that thing this will not end well. Anyone can jump in and make the thing move, that doesn’t mean they should.
I have run off more than one driver for side loading and off loading cats on my lowbed trailers, very tough on the frames and decks.
That guy on the crane lucky he didn’t break or hurt someone, the boom angle needs way way higher, super hard on it and your leverage is at the furthest point but he got it! 963 is super clean looking I sent you a email before interested in the one you just sold, if you decide to part with the new one let me know
That auction gets the blood pumping. Great relationship with your son. Impressed with his maturity and common sense. Thanks for posting!
Cherish this time with your Dad Brax. Had a similar relationship with my dad. Lost him to cancer 6 years ago. I'm 40. Still not over it.
I'm sry buddy I'm in the same boat as you I'm 39 lost my father 10yrs ago to cancer he was my best friend we did everything together hunt fish camping ride dirt bikes we were together 24 7 my heart hurts every day still I don't think I'll ever be tht happy again I miss my father so much good thing I have an amazing wife who's there for me shit sux so please if you have your father love him every day because when he's gone you will be in tears every week like me keep your head up buddy we can get through it 🙂
Man I just wanna say your one hell of a man and a amazing father brax gonna be a 18 yr old smart as a 50yr old guy. Gonna know how to make money and fix his equipment. Would loved to grow up with a father like you was raised by a single mother but hey man so glad got introduced to your channel by Bruce. Can only wish you all the success and more
I’d be looking for excuses to lift things with that crane. Nice score
I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago and have been watching a bunch of your video's. I gotta say it's been great watching a hard working family grow and steer their business through uncertain times. You are prepping your business for the worst and that makes you smarter than the average small businessman, and your doing with your son Braxton, your dad and I assume your brother. Love it, keep it up. I really want to see you guys succeed. You need a show on Discovery, Call them, they will take your call.
Basement Racer, ILL DOUBLE DITTO ON THAT!!!!!!!!!
LOVE THIS CHANNEL - BEEN BINGE WATCHING TOO. Back in the early 00's my friends family owned a log truck company and had a stated 900hp 83' Mack Superliner Detroit V8, an orange Peterbuilt 367, and a few International Eagle 9300's
I do not recommend side loading any piece of equipment like that. It adds too much torsion on the the whole rig when the trailer twists with all the weight on one side. Taking the time to drop the deck and loading it properly can save unnecessary bushing and wooden deck wear. Blocking the deck would be my option to prevent it from twisting if it was my only option. The "operator" of the equipment was a bit reckless if you ask me. Best of luck to all.
Thanks for the video, Tim! I was wondering what my safety talk with my low bed drivers was going to be on Monday. Now I have a nice video clip for discussion about how to get fired. There are so many good UA-camrs like yourself out there that maybe don’t realize they have inadvertently become “instructors” for folks learning a trade. Please be responsible in what you have to show. Side loading can and has been done but it’s dangerous and damaging to the trailer. There are very few circumstances when that is an option and none of those where present. I’m a loyal subscriber and will continue to be. (And also a 20 year low bed driver.)
100%
Yeh I was thinking the same thing.
Same thoughts, not to mention I coulda had that low boy dropped loaded and hooked up in the time they “saved” side loading.
@@back9trucktrailer313 since he uses this trailer quite often, a wise business decision would be to buy a hydraulic RGN instead of this other junk. Much easier to detach.
Long.time.subscriber here also. He has transitioned from a trucking business owner to a UA-cam Content Creator and it shows. Sad.
Sand blast and new paint job on the crane, be able to sell it for more than you bought it for
Some one needs to get familiar with the charts on that crane or there is an accident in the future such as lifting on jacks they should all be out and firmly planted
I wish I would have had a person like you Tim, brax is a lucky kid happy to see y’all cherish these times love every minute brax! Later on you’ll be taking care of dad! Love the videos keep it up!
That Cracked windshield will get u written up quick .
You have a thing with cracked windscreens. Awesome video as normal
I love you guys. Great Father Son vibes
Don't fall for the prize scam. BTW, he spelled it "price".
We need more kids like Brax in the world.
I agree! Slot of teens now are attached to electronics. When they're attached to something moving earth/freight! I drove cars/tractors long b4 15yrs old! YAAAY BRAXXXUS

@@louisgibson730 It's not hateful, kids that fat often get Type 1 Diabetes and it's a real pain to live with. If you love your kids do you don't let them be morbidly obese.
This was a great video . I like them much better when tim is just being himself .
Scammer!!!
@@BonzoFan1 are you saying I'm a scammer ?
With a little maintenance that crane will definitely come in handy the boys are gonna be pulling motors with it and it's great for putting employees vehicles on top of buildings I here
That last part reminds me of when we put a buddies geo metro on the bed of his truck(he had a flatbed on it)with the forklift while he was gone eating lunch with his girlfriend
hey tim the tracks on dat lil case are on backwards / facing to da back , suppose to be cleet to da front is da right way ..........
I'm pretty sure you have greasy hand prints on your light switch fixtures at home. WASH YOUR HANDS TIM!!
I love you guys videos brother I'm Clide Fisher an old truck driver myself ok bud

I always loved machinery and big equipment auctions. I can't believe Brax sold his side by side it almost sounded like the freightliner had a miss when you were pulling the hill maybe just the added noise recording. Be safe.🤙🇺🇸👍
Man, I envy your lifestyle, you love what ya do and it shows ! Thanks for taking us along brother ! Love yall !
Congrats on the machinery! the load looked amazing on the trailer & combined with the truck just topped the look off, i'm happy all went well and glad to see things kicking into high gear past few videos
Side loading is a good way to tear up equipment, experienced or not that's just unnecessary abuse to that trailer.. ask any good lowbed driver/owner. Good buys though! 👍
Ya know you got a good crane when you got to put 4 pales of hydrologic oil in it to make it move 😂
I'm convinced the man just likes to buy junk and just likes to buy anything in general
@@chaddevine565 yep....makes people think he got ALOT of money..... a guy in my town has a concrete business and is always spending....so you'd think, hey, he's got ALOT of money......then heard he up to his eyeballs in debt....
MRS. G that food looks so good. Tim great video and purchase. Congrat's to your sale Braxton. AS always TWO THUMBS UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
The tracks on that little Case dozer are on backwards (Wrong way round).
That Crane is going to pay for itself, we bought a TC40 to use in our Towing Company and it's made us some really good paydays. I'll sale you it for the right price!
There is a three-day auction ever two months in Morristown Tennessee you might be interested in
Hope your dad good on hydraulics. Now see why crane been sitting. Lucky your toy didn't dump with outriggers not deployed. Cable be expensive, but it got bad spots.
Your Dynaweld "beast" trailer already has over flexed neck.
Get by for awhile swimming.
Yeah main beams stronger then front deck.
You was selling and then bought more well used toys.
Best luck
Don't forget annual certification for crane depending on your insurance company, getting few guys certified as operators too.
Another great video, that I enjoyed watching .That crane will come in really handy around the truck garage and then when you build the new garage and on the farm, a lot of people have no idea how handy that a crane can be for you all . And the Cat track loader with the 4 in one bucket, blade will be really handy for you all also, so many things that you can do with it . I am glad that the auction was a big success . I will see you all later on another video, so you all take care and stay safe out there working and driving on the road .
🤗👍❤️💫
Great additions to your company, Brax is growing up selling toys to build tools of the trade, now you need to find a tracked skid loader.
The Milwaukee impact will run circles around the 1" air impact in your shop
Man that 963 track loader is a BEAST 🦍🦍 an it has a 4 in 1 Bucket on it that's a Big plus
Those farrer caps on that metal wheels apiece cost more than the tractor individually has to be welded on
That little case Dozer looks like a Diesel Generator with tracks...
60k Lbs worth of dozers..good thing the truck and trailer only weighs 20k Lbs. Thank you for putting out the outriggers on the crane, I was sweating over here lol
Milwaukee tools are the bomb! I used to think they all where alike until my buddy gave me couple that I own to this day and Milwaukee warranty has even fixed couple one I even dropped off roof and broke it. Fixed no questions asked. Last longer and have more power. Heck ya
Ran an FLD for Gordon Trucking out of Auburn WA back in the early 2000's- I like 'em. We ran 350 horse Cummins mostly, I wound up with one that had a 375 horse Cat- I think that was my favorite rig. Ran I-5 and the western US, usually with about 46k in the box full of newsprint paper rolls... good times. Your vid pulling the hill with the turbo talking reminded me off all the times I was pulling the grades in Southern Oregon, or rolling up the Grapevine in California...
Just got one of those impacts too. Life changing
Always a good channel to watch. Love the difference in life between there and Australia. Keep the videos coming mate
The cat 963 b to d are the greatest track loaders you can get besides the older cats.
I am a big fan Of you and your family. I am not a trucker but my son is. Sometimes when you do things I feel like I am there with you. Tim, I have been a crane operator on offshore drilling rigs for 30 years. Please be careful when operating that crane. never let someone be under the load
The crane and the big dozer were good buys.
Matt from Diesel Creek would LOVE that crane you picked up. And if I heard correctly you got it for $5500? What a steal!!!!!
You done good on that 963 Cat!!! I’m in exactly the same situation your in, and doing the same!!! I’ve got 953B Cat, skid steer/mulcher, Feller Buncher, Skidder, Delimbers, log loaders, sawmill, tractors, pallet mill etc, etc. New rule, if I don’t use it regularly, sell it, and all the toys gotta go! We’ve got about 3-9 months folks and it’s gonna get hard. I lived through it in the late seventies and eighties. We’ll still be able to make money, but just will be working harder for inflation dollars! Toys will be few and far between, and you better own machines that’ll turn a dollar! Your doing a good thing getting diversified, that’s the best thing you’ll ever do to survive! God Bless, and keep on keepin on.
I've been a railroader all my life. Near 35 years worth. Last year, they threatened to outright fire anyone who refused the shot. So I figured fuck it. On a buddies advice I started my own company and got my carrier authority. I'm learning every day about this business to be sure, but it's people like you that convince me that I'm in a great place with great awesome people in it. Best to you brother...
Austin is the kinda guy you say things once and you already know it's done guys like him the mind starts running as soon as you say what you want and they forming a plan of action and outcome is quick and efficient
Boom out and up closer to machine pick lot more weight
That’s a healthy sounding girl that fld is a beast 😊👍

HELLO TIM I LIVE IN MANCHESTER TN I WHATCH UP ALL THE TIME MY BRO DRIVES A TRUCK FOR A LIVING BEEN DEIVR 40 YEARS
Cracking video Tim and you’ve got a fantastic wife there really looks after you 👍💪🏻💪🏻🏴
I seen your truck at that auction Thursday it is a beautiful one
That anit going happen because your not real lol
But why would you side load? That don't seem smart
You’re doing a great job raising your son. It’s important for him to understand what a dollar can buy on any given day and what a good honest days work is like.
I started working summers when I was 11. By the time I was 13 I was making $100 a day. I had almost $10k saved by the time I was 15. As a young man my father came to me once he needed to borrow money to make the mortgage. I could tell it wasn’t an easy thing for him to ask. My father was a hard worker, responsible and proud man but we had come up on some hard times.
That moment really taught me a lesson to always have some emergency cash. Also those summers I sacrificed made it worth every moment when I had the means to help my family at one of our lowest points.
Bailing wire, duct tape and vice grips will fix most break downs. Tim you'll earn the money back on the crane the first or second time loading boats. That light plant will run 10/ 12 hrs on a tank of fuel.
Will be great at your shop pulling engines out of the trucks
Timmy you and ole Braxy boy are a beast. But sir NO MORE AUCTIONS cause you go empty and come out completely weighted down with toys lmao. Thanks for all the adventures. Keep making memories and we'll hopefully see you on the next one 🤟💪👊✌️
That’s the be all of impacts no need for air things a beast
Used to with my dad to the auctions good memories 👍👍😎Rickster. Also knew the bank we used forever and bought a lot of good deals through them everything from my first car to a Pete lowboys dump trailers for just a few 👍👍😎Rickster
going to need that crane to move them bulls from trailer to trailer....makes sense 🤔
Guy operating the crane lucky 🍀
hey just a heads up the tracks on the dozer may need to be adjusted they have to much slack in them it may throw a track.
See now this is what l want to see. Tim your all over the place and l love it. You are just the best people.
Dude plays Tonka trucks with real Tonka trucks.Nice to see someone do well in this economy.🎉
That one inch impact will make a man out of you really quick, and you better remember that the pattern is different on a Simi Truck and Trailer. There's no righty tighty, Lefty loosey and I have seen several people hurt their wrist trying to do it that way.
If you buy junk, you will always have junk.
Awesome deal with the auction glad it worked out bud
Side loading is rough on the floor .
That floor is junk anyway.
I don't think Brax wanted to let go of that side by side.
Yeah it seemed like he liked the idea until time to load it up and take it to the auction but still took it anyway because he said he was going to take it
In the business they call this foreshadowing.
I don’t think I have seen a truck you don’t love. lol love them older trucks to. You did have the 5th wheel greased up good didn’t you. Hey I would love to have one of them inpacks to . We just haven’t done it yet.
You need to make sure that anti two block is working, so you don’t get hurt, break it or the cable, or drop something,
Love the channel. Reminds me of my late father and myself. Enjoy that time you spend with you boy. He will remember it. Thanks yall
Momma gentry is the best Tim you take care of her and she will take care of you be safe and remember if you got it a trucker bought it

To lazy to detach in a yard so you side load that old crawler 🤦♂️ good thing you own that equipment good way to bend the trailer or rip up the deck
That little case would be good for brax to fix up and to play with
I knew you were gonna buy that little dozer.... can't resist a "toy" make some videos with the big dozer and using the new IMPACT that thing is sickkk!
46'22 that boy took that like a man , smashed his toe with that impact
Hey Tim, I wanna see the light bar at night in a future (SOON) video!
I can see loading a small piece of equipment like that but that's way too heavy that trailer is not going to last long doing that to it
Your u tube is the best I like how you show us everything and you have a good wife that takes care of you all the food looks really good Thanks you for a very good u tube channel
I like the equipment you have bought at the auction that's kind of cool I hope you feel more more on your Crane and everything on Farm
Steering gear box needs to be checked. Check for bad torque rod bushings first.
not sure if you are alowed to use the crane commercially without having it checked over by something like osha , allso not sure if youre insurance would cover a technical falure of the crane causing a boat to drop and damage stuff even if youre using the crane on private propperty
change the lights on that light plant to LEDs and it will have less of a load and save you fuel
Cat 963 weight is around 41k by Ritchie pec.
Love the new stuff you guys got and Braxton is an awesome guy one day he’s goona be running your busses for you tim
Just so you know every time we do that side loading like that the tears up your deck but if you're good operator you can do it really good without tearing the wood up
Thanks Tim and family.
