LOVED THIS VIDEO!!! To anyone with the HK sound system, you can wire this very easily!!! Buy the plug, the adapter, and the rings and you don't need anything else as the plug will come with already crimped connectors that you can plug straight into the speakers. The HK system has 0 difference between the factory other than the fact that there is an amp in the trunk that powers everything. These speakers give a huge boost in clarity and sound but take a but to be broken in. Also, his method of soldering the factory wires to the tweaters isn't necessary as the surround sound feature of the car views the tweeter and door speaker as the same speaker so you can just plug the crossover straight into the door speaker. RAYMOND URIAS IS A GENIUS!!!
2004 e320 had none of those rivets HK system I finally got all that Harmon out and they did not make a correct harness for new headunit so i hardwired
@robertehlers4330 I wish the pop-up navs had a parametric EQ as the front driver speaker gets very fuzzy in mid-high range and the only way to combat this is to just remove the speaker. Sucks cuz if there was a Para EQ I could just lower the amount of juice it's taking and be fine
Yup I replaced all used jl audio amps speakers subs and xtron hu sounds wayyyy better and up to date Hu does all the work instead of 6 or 7 modules

I like hex bolts too, less chance of slipping while screwing them in and putting a hole in your cone by accident.

Thanks for the video Raymond .To late that I did mine a year ago and couldn't find very much information on how to replace the speaker.I used Polk Audio MM1 Series MM652 for the rear and Polk DB6501 for the front.I used mdf to fabricate the base for all speaker.Huge job in comparison with yours.

Yea what year bro i got 2004 e320 4matic with HK so the got the JLs same as his the tweeter fit not as easy as his though and now to see if 6.5 will even fit he says mercedes yea ray what year what model

I definitely should have done that in retrospect I can just safely say it sounded bad. The audio quality just never sounded normal sounded very muffled not so crisp.

The bass response is better then HK. I would recommend installing a stand alone sub for your best bass response

why you changed the speakers? mercedes speakers (the old ones) sounds good
The audio quality was night and day. Highs are more clear and lows are richer. Maybe if you have the brewmizer then it sounds good but stock base speakers are bad

You will have to replace it
Very helpful information. You are correct on the colors of the wires that are different at the head unit and they change at the door speakers. But you made one wrong statement about All the door speakers are green and brown/green. That's not true. That is only for the front speakers. The rear door speakers are pink and brown/pink.
You have to be very careful with Mercedes. They are complicated. The last thing someone wants to do is to deploy a side air due while making short cuts while on tracing wires.
When in doubt use Alldata of Mitchell for wiring diagrams.
Mercedes and BMW always has to be different and they do it for a reason hoping that you will make a costly mistake.
Did you have the Harman Kardon system? How was the audio improvement?

Great question. To answer that as simply as I can "Quality of Life". I rarely upload and when I did it didn't grab any attention, then I would get barrage of message asking for the same thing "Link for item" or it would be a scammer trying to get some free item from me or drama. So all in all there is plenty fo juice from factory HU to power up theses puppies ? and the rear is c1-650X ? maybe u got the link for the apdapter plates ? and maybe u know does these fit W212?

Yes, there is no adapter available for your car. They are correct because your car has a factory amplifier. So you will have four wires going to your speaker too positives and two negatives

Great video Raymond! I have a HK system and wanted to upgrade my speakers to a component system. You referenced that there are 4 wires so I am assuming the tweeter and mid are powered separately. How would I wiring the crossover without overloading the factory amp? Can I just install the components without the crossover? Thanks
Watch out bro they dont make wiring harness for 2004 e320 and they will not fir aka Cruchfield said depth off
Sir why did you install crossover when the tweeter and mid are already separated from stock?
The stock tweeter had a physical capacitor on the back of it so by cutting it out the line would still need a capacitor. That's why I put it in there.
So if I replace just the mid do I need to install the crossover?
@@shiveshgupta3333 no as long as you connect them correctly to your new mid you will be fine... But why not replace both the price difference is not that much

Isn’t the approach to installing the rear speakers a bit different. I assumed so because crutchfield do not sell speakers that is fitted for the rear doors.
The rear door is the exact same only the speakers are coaxial 6.5, and the rings are different, easily found online or can be made from MDF. Exactly the same process.

Love this video.Exactly what I was searching the web for. However, in an earlier video you installed an amplifier in this same car and I am believing that these JL6.5 are compatible with that system. I have the original H/Kardon logic 7 ( C250 of 2010), and I am not so sure weather these speakers will be compatible with the original unit. Are they? and if not, exactly what RMS speakers will give the best results for my car. Thanks and hoping for a reply.....
These will be compatible with your factory amp. If you are looking to step up your sound stage and run new wires then check out the C2. For factory cars with no amps I would not exceed 60w RMS per speaker or 120 RMS per pair. Anything higher then that and your head unit can't pump out the power to power them successfully

Close but different for the rear. The connector is amplified so you need to determine positive and negative

does this work well with the factory amplifier? I have a w212 E200 non harman kardon model and one of my front 6's have gone bad. People suggested me not to go for after market system as the factory amplifier wont be sufficient for it. Any thoughts on that? Thanks! lovely video!
The C1 will work just fine. They have a very low power consumption. The C2 on the other hand will require a bigger aftermarket amp

That center speaker sucks I have w211 HK and hard to find center replacment 3.5 nothing really fits I gonna try some tweeters I have extra jl tweeters
Nice video. The front passenger speaker on my W212 has trouble with low frequencies so I am planning to upgrade the front speakers this Summer. How about the C5-650 2-Way Component System? I know it's more expensive but will it fit as easily as the C1? The crossover is very different... I have the standard speaker configuration so I am not sure if the C5 will receive enough power.
C5 are gorgeous but you don't have enough power to power them up you need an independent amplifier for all your door speakers. The problem with the C2 which is also a great speaker is the size of the crossovers huge.
I will give a try to the C1 then. I am sure they will sound better than what came with the car anyway. Thanks for the answer.

There is a MAJOR difference between the cheap audio 20 and JL audio. The JL tweeters are crystal clear!

W204 is the chassis it encompass all C class built from 2008-2012
C300 just means C Class with 3.0 engine
C250= 2.5 engine
Not exactly correct. My 2012 c250 has a 1.8 liter Turbo 4 cylinder engine

Is this an upgrade that’s doable for HK system with fiber optics in a c350 from 2006?
So the fiber optic runs from the head unit to the amplifier but from the amplifier it's normal copper wire to the speaker everybody thinks that there's fiber optic cables going to the door speakers and that is not true. You should actually have four wires going to each speaker since they're amplified

Hi Raymond I have a 2010 E550 with the HK 7.1. I can’t find anything anywhere about upgrading the door speakers. You mentioned it could be done with a little difference. I had a stereo guy tell me I couldn’t due to them being 2 ohms. I like JL also. Would I still use the same speaker you did or is that what you meant by the difference. If I can use that speaker what is the difference you spoke about?
Ohms is a measure of resistance. The C2 should be a perfect fit for your door. More than likely your installer wants to install the C3, they are amazing but alot more work and they come with passive crossovers. Ultimately you need to decide why you are upgrading door speakers. Are the old ones blown or clipping then the C2 is your choice. Want to amplify your music and play real loud, then the C2 is your choice
Raymond Urias he totally suggested not to replace them unless I was going to go with HK speaker replacement. I called a JL dealer near me today and he suggested a whole new system! 3 to 4 k! 👀🤣 are the c2 speakers 2 ohms? The JL guy said if they were 4 ohms I’d lose half the power...
Raymond Urias also the price to replace the original speakers new is close to $300 per speaker and don’t include the tweeter... so with one speaker already slightly blown I don’t have much choice on price.
@@michaelhorstman2603 well you always have a choice in the price Believe it or not. You can shop around get different prices or do it yourself.
It's really not that bad. but if you feel like you don't have the tools and you need somebody professionally to look at it don't be afraid to ask a couple shops.
Those speakers Impedance is 4 Ohms. I thought the stock speakers in the Mercs are 2 ohms. Wouldn't this be more quiet that stock without upgrading the amp?

@@TechnoMonkeyFarm The front left speaker in my a45 with the upgraded HK system was tested at 2 Ohms. Still have no response or idea on how loud/clear a 4 Ohms speaker would be.

@@Rob4xz everything is in the links, I'm not posting them again. The sub was JL 10" @ 2ohm. The front speakers are JL C1 component 6.5" and the rear is JL C1 coaxial 6.5"
