In my first year of studying towards a BSc in building surveying. The lecturer who teaches us revit has no clue. This hour video taught/helped me more than he has in 8 weeks!

I think you are a good teacher and you sound clear. I have been trying to do other video tutorials and the teachers are awful.
Please do more tutorials, I would suggest a more complex building, with its Construction and Structure plans.
    Thank you!

This is by far the best "beginners" Revit tutorial i've seen! As a former craftsman (bricklayer i think it's called in UK?) and building technician, i've been used to AutoCad, but have been away from the trade for a number of years, and this makes me want to use Revit now!
I will be watching the rest of your tutorials, they are loaded with great little tips for a beginner like me!
For example move, align, rotate, create, and copy content....something many teachers/consultants skips because they are assuming these things are common knowledge, even when many many years of AutoCad drawing has shown that none of use the software in the same way or manner!
Would love to attend a course of yours, but i'm afraid thats rather unconvenient as i'm living in Denmark :-)

      Hello Thomas,
Thank you so much for your kind words. They make it all worthwhile.
Well you're always welcome to come to the UK to sit on one of my courses. I'd be happy to give you a discounted rate, due to your kind words. :) Failing that i'm always happy to travel to different countries if the logistics work out. Let me know if there's anything I can help with.
I look forward to hearing from you.
      Many thanks

A question though, how do I get the UK Metric Library content in my program in the US (from your scrolling it looks like it has so much more components)?
    Thanks Mr Parsons-Moore.

    • @jamesapm
      @jamesapm 10 років тому

The UK METRIC LIBRARY is a content pack that you load during the install process. You can add this later if you still have your install files? Just re-run the setup file and "add/remove features"

Excellent tutorial ! Very well done, but you're wrong about detailing. The detailing done in AutoCAD Architecture leaves this in the dust. The detail component manager is derived from ACA's and loses a huge amount of functionality. Also without layers, the lineweight control is poor

Im grateful This Bloke has done a tutorial on how this software works,
But it just highlights that unless you know what all the 4 million functions do, then your going to get started and get stuck.
The average person trying to use Revit would take them 3 years to learn how to use all the 4 million functions on this software to actually produce something that could actually be built. Im a house Builder, I need a software that dost have 4 million secret tricks to it that needs 3 years to learn before you can design a box house in an hour, as a builder i want a software i can 100% learn in an hour and then use to design a house in an hour. Chippy
