    Love love love this video! Thank you for showing your hits and misses. Ever since l started watching your channel I’ve been searching the 2nd hand stores to find glass pieces to incorporate into the gel plate. l have had hits, but more misses, so the struggle is real, but l now know what to look for. 😁

    A piece of plexiglass under your gel plate will allow you to flip it easily.😊

      Thank you so much, I did invest in a piece of plexiglass to help flip the gelli plate, however, the pressure necessary to get a good imprint of the glass is not "applyable" (lol, my own word) through the pelxiglass...I've tried it! And peeling the the plexiglass from the plate is not possible without disturbing the imprint. I'm still looking for a solution as I have found a LOVELY Anchor Hocking Starburst Pattern serving plate and trying to get a print of that now.

    Love this demo! For plates you like but can't get right, you might want to try the play-doh method. I haven't done it myself yet, but it looks like it transfers odd shapes really well. It's simple and only costs a buck a jar at Walmart, plus can be used over and over again.

    I've been collecting glass pieces and am ready to give them a try with the Gelli plate. I have a large bowl that I will use with the flip method. I might try for some of the bowl side prints even if they end up wonky. I'll just press randomly along the edges to see what I can get. I've been noticing a line that is transferring from my braver to my prints. It's grabbing a line of paint from my brayer-off paper between uses. So I'm trying to remember to flip it roller side up right after I roll off the excess and set it on the brayer-off sheet. Thanks for sharing and giving me an excuse to visit some local thrift stores for printing texture treasures. Happy printing and stay cool!

    Having fun watching you experiment today. I was thinking as I watched, that maybe you could try this... get a foam garden kneepad on at the garden center, place it under your gell pad. Then when you press a hard glass object into the gel pad on another hard surface, (your table), there's not enough "give" or bounce when pressing. With a foam underneath you'll be able to press into the extra foam. It has worked for me at times. Try and see. Maybe it might work. 😊KathrynUster@UsterKoolageArt I love to watch you experiment. Great videos!

    That’s so great! I remember when a viewer wrote that the black metal bar on the back of the brayer is there so you can rest the brayer on it and not have it stick to the paper. So smart! If I could just break the habit and do that! I wish you GREAT success with your Gelli printing and thank you for watching and commenting!

      Thank you! I haven’t tried that yet, also haven’t tried the Playdoh suggestion, but I will! Right away I know that I would likely need a foam roller to apply paint directly to the glass, rather than a brayer. Will experiment and report findings!

    I’ve been so inspired and learned a lot from your videos, thank you. How important do you think paint is in gelli printing? I can’t really afford Golden and have cheaper Artistro paint but I’ll spend more if you think it’s a game changer

    • @VikkiReed
      @VikkiReed  12 днів тому +1

      Thank you, Sally! For me it is a game changer, but I’ve seen other artists use the Deco Arts paints and others with success, and I sometimes use the Amsterdam (for photo transfers) and Liquitex Soft Body (which I do like)! I tried the Liquitex Fluid Acrylics and that was a big “no” for me. I would continue to use what you have and occasionally purchase a Golden to see if you experience a difference that is worth the investment…Dick Blick and Jerry’s Artarama sometimes run sales on Golden…I hope that helps!
