      I just picked mine up yesterday. I'm in California and they're selling these like crazy because it's one of the only tactical shotguns available right now. I bought mine at Big 5 for $299.00. I'm retired law enforcement and wanted to add a new toy to my collection, but didn't want to break to bank. The manager at Big 5 said it's made in Turkyie and a good product for the price. What a kind thing to do. Citadel provided a book that should be brought to Costco and put in the toilet paper bin, because it would then serve a useful purpose. What kind of idiot would the INSTRUCTION manual as worthless as that. Truly, your efforts are appreciated.

    Russ, thank you for this video. It was really helpful to me. The owner's manual does not give enough information on how to clean anything more than the barrel. One thing I noted is there is a notch on the rear of the charging handle which I used to remove it using a flat screwdriver. That was much easier than using pliers. Again, thank you for taking time to make this video. God bless, Jim

    Thanks Russ for this video. Just picked up my new Citadel today. Several little issues so I will take it back to the store and ask them to fix these issues. Charging handle will not lock, I just push it back by hand so it is not locking into a detent. This is my first semi-auto shotgun so looking forward to running some rounds through it. You are 100% correct when say the manual is useless...frankly it is more than useless.

      It’s been impossible to get it out w/out pliers. I will say it’s shot great though. I’ve shot over 500 rounds now. Took it to the desert this last weekend and shot clay with 4s and 7.5s and it shot great. Had a blast with it. My wife now loves shooting clay b/c of it, but she wants a 20 gauge, 12 gauge a bit much. So now I get to buy another shotgun, not disappointed. Haha.

    • @russyoutube9188
      @russyoutube9188  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, use higher velocity rounds or you’ll get FTEs all day, has to have enough gas energy to eject and chamber properly. Low bird shot and managed recoil doesn’t produce enough energy.

    Manufacturer recommends minimum velocity of either 1200 or 1250 (can't remember which but I think it was 1250) to reliably cycle, so that is probably your issue with the reduced recoil rds. Rep I spoke with says he runs 1290fps through his, so that's what I've been running. Glad to hear you've had good luck aside from that box! You've got more rounds through yours, but I haven't had a single hiccup w mine. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-200 through mine. Can't find any reviews on this thing anywhere!!

    • @russyoutube9188
      @russyoutube9188  3 роки тому +1

      Not sure what the velocity was on those rounds. Everything else I’ve shot has been perfectly fine. I haven’t found any reviews either and I know my two local gun shops have sold a lot of them.

    • @Whitelightningchallenger
      @Whitelightningchallenger 3 роки тому +1

      So I have been shooting only slugs out of mine about 75 rounds so far. The only issue I am having right now is that some times the round gets caught in the middle of cycle and I have to manual charge the handle to feed it threw. I have been shooting federal max slug, federal low recoil, rio star and rio low recoil and they have all been hit or miss. Now all this have been happening since I have been shooting it right out of the box. So now I have took it all apart and cleaned it and lube it down. Now I’m hoping the next time I go to the range I won’t have any issues.

    Anyone who does buy this gun make sure you clean regularly. I now have over 500 rounds through it and I found metal pieces for the second time. First was a small piece in the bolt, 2nd piece was behind the trigger assembly. Neither were shell material, this is gun material. The magazine tube just screws off and the trigger group comes off by tapping the pin out right above the trigger, hit it on the side with the pig on it.

    • @douglasmay7714
      @douglasmay7714 3 роки тому

      Thanks again, so there's no second pin then, most shotguns I've seen have 2 pins or screws holding the fire control section in, was wondering where the second was hidden, actually was considering taking the buttstock off to look for one under it.

    • @russyoutube9188
      @russyoutube9188  3 роки тому +1

      @@douglasmay7714 No second pin. Really easy to remove the tube, it just screws off. Removing the stock is easy, one screw holds the rubber pad on, then remove the 13mm bolt from the stock to the body. I had to give some elbow grease to get tube off, but it finally came off.

    • @familyofmay3131
      @familyofmay3131 3 роки тому +2

      @@russyoutube9188 Got it off, finally, mine had some sort of thread locker in it? Green something gunk. Ended up using channel lock pliers and a rubber bottle opener thingy wrapped around the tube, and still left a mark on the tube.
      Also my stock bolt was 1/2", 13mm was a loose fit in my 6 point socket, so I tried SAE and 1/2 was nice and snug. 13 would probably taken it out but why risk rounding it off? Dunno if they are just not made uniformly or they use whatever they got on hand but might wanna try a half inch next time.
      Also found one little sliver of metal in the very rear of the receiver. Along with some unburnt powder, I think, if not I have no clue what it was!
      Now need to go cut a bigger plug so she's hunting legal, hmmm, think I'll drill the hole in the end cap a little bigger so the filler can be dropped in and out without taking off the mag tube again, because I probably should use thread locker to put her back in, since it holds the barrel on and all.......

    • @familyofmay3131
      @familyofmay3131 3 роки тому

      Used Blue threadlock, all I have to do now is unscrew the cap thing that holds the foreend on and shake the plug out the enlarged hole, or drop it in for hunting legallity. I'm happy it works out that easy!

    • @familyofmay3131
      @familyofmay3131 3 роки тому

      Another note for anyone taking off stock and trigger group, put trigger group back in first, if you put the stock on first and it's slightly turned you will not be able to get the trigger group back in. Ask me how I know this :-)

    That was a great video.
    Thank you for including the part about the loose barrel. Unfortunately, we have slightly different Warthogs. I bought mine mid-2021. The handgauard is different, and apparently some of the innerworkings.
    My assembly does not have a fastener to tighten as yours does. Mine is more of a cap, as opposed to a threaded cylinder, that still allows the mag tube to pass through. The only thing I can tighten in front of that is the handguards and the front nut.
    The fact that there does not seem to be a way to tighten it on my model seems to say that there is nothing wrongs with it. I have checked how the barrel and its adapter mates with the receiver and everything is lined up and running smoothly. I see no unusual wear and it is reliable AF. I totally thought that was normal.
    The only thing that I can think is that the barrel can twist in the adapter that mates with the receiver. If that was twisted, it might cause a problem, but I don't believe it would fit the receiver.. The site seems plum too, based on the front site mount.
    I am hoping someone sees this and can offer some input.

    Bought a Warthog just before Christmas 2020 and got it in January from a semi-large box store in Ohio. Brought it home and cleaned all the excess oil off of it. Took it to Shoot Point Blank in Miamisburg, OH using 1400 fps slugs. One in the chamber and several in the tube. Pulled the trigger and BOOM. BOOM. Two shots one after the other. The others cycled and fired normally. Loaded it again, same thing. Took it home, cleaned it again, and took it to an outdoor range near my house. This time I used 1250 fps #7 12 shot and ran a box of it one shell at a time thinking it needed breaking in. Then loaded as before one in the chamber and three in the tube. BOOM, BOOM again. The rest cycled and fired normally. Loaded it again this time holding the trigger. One fired, but when I released the trigger, Boom! Now I am thinking this is NOT right! Called Legacy, and they sent me a return label to their gunsmith. It is now enroute to Reno. Hope they can fix it.

    Another way to get the charging handle out that I discovered is to hold it just like you did, and then lay a piece of hardwood (3/8 x 1/2 x 5) flat across the receiver behind the charging handle, and there is a notch in the backside of the charging handle close to the bolt. Then take a straight bladed screwdriver (duct tape the blade as needed to protect the finish) and use the wood as a fulcrum/lever point and you can push down on the screwdriver and lever the charging handle out. Feels a little more "controllable". I tried the pliers method but couldn't ever get it out and was afraid of really marring the finish.

The problem continued after shooting federal and wolf rounds through it so I had to RMA it, thought it could have been an extractor issue. They returned it fairly quickly but it now fires and ejects the Remington birdhot shells. I think it's a decent semi auto and I have fun shooting it but once in a big while it fails to eject.

      I am still waiting for them to get back to me about spare parts. It’s been a month. Covid may be part of it I guess. Was your gun already put together when you bought it? They don’t come assembled, the gun shops puts them together, so it’s possible they didn’t put it on when they assembled it. That sleeve is actually called a buffer and it protects the piston.

    I got as far as getting the barrel off and was stumped, figured the charging handle had to come out but wasn't sure enough 'How' to try to force it.
    And the shell issue is because they are low velocity, got a card packed in with mine that said you must use 1300 fps ammo to function properly. Glad to hear you put that many rounds thru it, was wondering how long that plastic buffer (?) would last.
    And no I haven't shot mine yet, I have a habit of tearing down a new gun before shooting it, just to be sure nothing is in there that shouldn't be, like excess oil and crud from manufacturing.

      @@russyoutube9188 Did yours come with a mag plug? The POS manual shows one in in the parts exploded view, but it wasn't in the gun or box it came in, of course the manual also says it's shipped disassembled when it came fully assembled. I had a piece of dowel rod that fit thru the hole in the end of the mag tube so I made myself a plug, but would preffer to take the tube apart and put a bigger diameter one in, those small ones can get between the coils of the spring and hang it up. Had it happen on a Mossberg pump.
      I plan to use it for hunting so the plug is required, sadly.
      Put a few mixed rounds thru it yesterday with no problems other than 3" mags really kick....

      You could probably put a rail on the body. You’d need to drill and tap screw holes for the rail. I think there are also rails that attach to the barrel that may work as well. Not sure about any angled grips though. There aren’t any accessories designed for this gun. You’ll have to find accessories for a similar shotgun and try it out.
