I worked at a music store from mid 90s to 2010s. We were a peavey dealer and sold the crap out of their equipment. How? We always had customers A/B whatever they came into the store with what they thought they wanted with a peavey piece of gear. The studio pro was my favorite SS amp. I've owned a Classic 30 and Windsor Half Stack (the plexi killer). Currently have a Delta Blues w15" speaker. Absolute monster. I had a chance to visit the Peavey operations in Mississippi back in '99. They routinely hosted dealers for week long training seminars. Learned tons of Pro Audio skills there. Always loved Peavey. Best USA made gear for the buck.

Also bought it (fully restored!),for under 200, now that’s a whole different beast and quite a poor man’s Jazz Chorus that still owes nothing to the Roland counterpart!
Pretty sure you were partly why I got a red stripe bandit. If anyone reads this, a speaker swap is the number one best thing you can do for a bandit or studio pro as the stock speakers hold back their full potential. Shane here likes the Texas Heat, if you prefer a British flavoured speaker like me, the best alternative to the heat is the Celestion Redback. Same power rating, warming up of the highs, and dynamic improvement, but the midrange only a Celestion can have.
Hi. I have a recently acquired studio pro. Did the celestion make the amp louder or just sound better? Reason why I ask is most of my at home volume is at #1 max. Cheers
Teal Bandit bandit here. A SP112 just came up used for €$75, one owner, only used for rehearsals. Senior bandits claims that Sheffield speaker is the bomb, not sure if they're in anything but Bandits. Anyway: I wonder why I don't see more of them used as 12" powered cabs, with a digital amp modeller or whatever into its FX return, should be good enough for most us and for sure cheaper than newer FRFR options. The day your digital gizmo crashes you also have a capable solid state B-rig for backup. Same for Tech-21 TM series.
I have that exact one that I gig weekly. I zoomed in to see where you had the volume set and at 3/4 my red white and blues speaker at that volume would peel paint. This amp like most has to have pushed volume to sound that good. They definitely punch above their price.
I have a Red Studio Pro. Think I paid $150, 5-6 yrs ago. Love it. Lots of amps have come and gone, but the Peavey is the only solid state amp that remains
Give me a "Solo Series" Peavey amp over the "transtube series" any day of the week. I've had my Bandit 65 since I bought it new in 1983 and have used it as a back up amp in emergency situations. When the "Transtube" amps came out and everyone went on about how much better they were I was stoked and played one. I was very disappointed in it. But I'm very happy with my 65, just wish it had an effects loop, so I am on the look out for a Bandit 75 Solo series {that does}.
Wish I'd had one of these back in the day instead of an unreliable Laney valve amp. It also beats the solid state Fender that I replaced it with. This and the Bandit are classics.
The Red Stripe Studio Pro seems to have a bit more midrange punch than the Red Stripe Bandit...are they different circuits or just 15 watts apart in power?...Thoughts?
That is like the last of the made in USA jobbies. The red stripe is realy atuned to the guitar.Very revealing to what you play. My favorite basically. Hartly was preety much a humbucker guy i think. The only gripe i have is the cab sounds lo fi but aside from that.his venture with solid state amplifiers was an achievement he should be proud of. Im proud of it for him I consider it to be quite an achievement
I bought that amp because of your review a few years ago. I got it for $100 . I was gigging back then and that amp just didn’t cut it for me . We were doing some rehearsals and I brought it. Didn’t really care for it.
Hi all, nice review. I have studio pro red stripe, I was considering to buy a Bandit, however the weight of the bandit makes me think twice if buying or staying with mi studio pro (which could be more convenient for my use..) do you think bandit sound much better? After all these years which one do you use more?? Regards
The bandit is louder and larger sounding. Most of the sound comes from the bandit having a better speaker. You can change the speaker in the studio pro 112 to something like an Eminence Swamp Thang or Texas Heat and it'll be a huge upgrade over the stock speaker.
I recently bought a 1989 Bandit, and it is excellent. It has a Celestion Sidewinder speaker, which is non-original, but suits the amp very well. Physically, my Bandit must be about the same size as the Studio Pro 112, and I'm not sure how different it is to a red stripe Bandit of the same age.
I was my first combo amp Peavey (Express?). It was heavy as hell, but I wrote my songs with it/played with my first band. I am puzzled by numerous recent reviews of this amp. I bet Peavey is about to show something new :-)

I have that exact one that I gig weekly. I zoomed in to see where you had the volume set and at 3/4 my red white and blues speaker at that volume would peel paint.
This amp like most has to have pushed volume to sound that good. They definitely punch above their price.
The longer I play, the more I come back to SS Peaveys. They always work, and they cover almost everything.
The old peavey bandit sounds killer
The original U.S.A. Peavey's were incredibly under rated. The one amp I got rid of and regretted it.
I have the rage 158. Great tones
Even better than a Bandit. We sold lots of them at the shop where I worked.
Hi, very convincing blues rock tone ! What are the difference between the red strip made in USA and them made in China ?
4:56 dude... what.... 🔥
I still love the bandits. Hard to find a studio pro in good shape where I live.
Estuve a punto de comprarlo al final cogí un valvestate pena no me decidiera por este, saludos desde España y gracias por el video ;)
Yesterday, i bough one on this. Great selling Shane 😂 Peavy Studio Pro In the Blues since 2016
I ❤️ 90s/00s solid state Fenders and Peaveys
I was my first combo amp Peavey (Express?). It was heavy as hell, but I wrote my songs with it/played with my first band. I am puzzled by numerous recent reviews of this amp. I bet Peavey is about to show something new :-)
Saw a video for a Peavey special chorus 212 trans tube nobody’s selling
I used to like mine gave it to my brother i had a pag60w i liked now have a 6505mh 20w head i like as well.
Looks basically like my Bandit Red Stripe 112
Love my peavey bandit 65
