Getting your pastry right first time is the most important thing. Insufficient water is the biggest cause of pastry cracking, add water gradually in 5ml increments until it comes together in a ball then chill for a couple of hours in cling film in the fridge for a couple of hours. Next knead it for a minute or so until it becomes smooth and elastic. I guarantee it will not crack.
