I was lucky to discover Jaisalmer in a local shop here in the US. From the first sniff to the first sip it was a joy, and is now one of my favorite gins.

wow. that's great to hear. it's hot as hell in India rn and I'm warming up to gin as my go to alcohol. I've bought Jaisalmer today and will be opening it tomorrow. Reading up on it and watching videos like this one, the build up is real!

I have tried only Greater Than in this list. It's fine for that price. Of the others, I'd definitely be trying Jaisalmer and Hapusa. I'm surprised you didn't get your hands on Stranger & Sons. I really love it. Wish it was priced a bit lower.

I am super excited to be watching this video. Will be opening my first ever bottle of Jaisalmer tomorrow and I am looking forward to it like I've looked forward to few things recently...

I picked up Greater than about 3 years ago in Mumbai during my first real brush with gin. I didn't realize it was Indian...it looked very minimalist and it was a pretty decent gin. I think it will be my go to gin because it tastes perfectly fine, it's easy on the pocket and it hits you well. The description given here, that it uses international ingredients but takes a modern look at gin sounds cool especially for an Indian gin to do. I think it's going to become my go to regular gin for cocktails and random weekend drinking. For special occasions I will continue to explore. There were some interesting Japanese gins at the shop that I'll try at some point. I've tried a bit of Bombay Sapphire, quiet a bit of Star of Bombay, Hendricks in the nicer ones (will be gorging on Jaisalmer tomorrow) and in the regular ones, Greater Than, Blue Moon (quiet nice, a cool flavour, easy on the pocket), Beefeater (didn't think much of it) and Gordon's...again, nothing special...this time I've got a seemingly more special bottle of Gordons for the cocktails...so let's see...Also...Tanqueray which I didn't think much of and Tanqueray No. 10...which had been built up so much for me...and it was pretty good, had a refined, smooth, high end taste but I didn't enjoy it as much because of the company...phew...I just realized I'm a half decent gin enthusiast...a bit surprised I've been through so much gin. still considered myself in very early stages of my love affair with gin...
P.S. - I made a Gin and Tonic last weekend that got appreciated as better than the cocktails we had at a five star hotel! It was Heston Blumenthal's recipe that's up here on youtube and it's a nice summer cooler involving cucumbers and a bit of lemon peel...i love the idea of calling gin a summer drink because i'm keen on having more and it's a bloody hot summer in the north whlie im here and Mumbai can be argued to have summers through out the year so that works out well...

Thanks for this! Sitting in the heat of a Calgary summer, even though I am a habitual teetotaler, I think I will go buy some gin and tonic (the former is much higher taxed than the mixer in Canada). With my minimal alcohol intake a bottle of top-end gin will last me two years. I have good memories of ten years ago snacking on chat in a bar near Oxford Books in Kolkata. But the gin was mediocre. Based on your review I have my eyes on Hapushaa. When I enter India in the winter I will see which local gins are available at a reasonable price. Does NSCB Airport have a duty-free shop with a good selection? BTW, when I was there last, bar owners were 'up in arms' about some new regulation that was severely affecting business. They were displaying posters like a hartal! Was that restriction discontinued?

Hi Hermes. G&Ts are best in summer to do away the Calgary Heat. So I hope that you enjoy something nice. I would suggest you also look at the Jaisalmer Gin as well. It might be available there - since you are a teetotaller it will last you a while and is worth the investment.
Yes the NSCB airport does have a decent selection. All airports in India now have a good duty free area, especially the new ones.
Yes that rule has been reversed. I am assuming you are referring to the 500m highway rule. :)

Found small bottles of Jaisalmer, Greater Than, and Stranger & Sons at my local wine shop in Mumbai. Thanks for the inspiration and education.
FYI, based on the premium price of mini bottles (180 to 200 ml) here is the MRP pricing in INR per ml...
      GRT - 2.50
      S&S - 4.25
      JSLM - 5.27
It appears that हपुषा (Hapushaa) comes only in one size. I am a critic of the distillery's transliteration of Sanskrit. But I am not going to bother dealing with that here.
BTW, where is the best price state to buy craftsman gin? I will be in TN, HP and WB this trip

With a number of products it is difficult to do that since it makes the videos longer. But we will take your feedback into consideration. Thanks. :)

This foreign viewer appreciates that he spoke in English. Additionally, I find it misleading when UA-camrs do not title the video in Devanagari, Marathi or whatever - yet they are not speaking English.
