another misconception is "being born" a religion. You can be born to parents who believe in a certain faith, but you yourself are not born a religion. Religion is a choice one makes, not a DNA profile.

What we must understand Jesus was not a Jew-- Jew comes from the tribe of Judah. Jesus was from the tribe of Levi. He came to the tribe of Judah to preach and they rejected him as the messiah. I think the problem is that people a) conflate Israelite with Jew (while Judah is a tribe of Israel, not all tribes of Israel are Jew. Judah actually rebelled against Israel (Jakob) and established his/their own identity/way of being. And b) people take the Bible to be history of humans civilizations when it is actually a collection of writings on metaphysics. Israel (formerly Jakob) represents the spirit/immortal journey and Adam represents the flesh/mortal journey. As hu-mans (hu means spirit, man means manifest) we have both the spirit (Israel) and the flesh (Adam) and we struggle between the two (this is the story of Cain and Abel).
