What I love most about this game is the Visual Story Telling. No spoken dialogue, and no dialogue boxes or narration. It’s all expressive. It’s always nice seeing this game played, as it’s the first Kirby game I ever played.
I was looking for gameplay of Kirby64 without someone talking over it, thank you for this video. What a fantastic game, it brings back such powerful nostalgia.
No lie, this is the first video game I ever played as a kid! I remember being blown away by the intro alone! This game will always have a special place in my ❤
+Darnell Waugh Ahhh the refrigerator ability was so cool! My favorite things to put together were the boomerang and ice abilities, which gave Kirby the ice skating ability. Dang, you make me want to go replay this game all over again! 😊
@106075595632054430352 Not to worry friend! I actually asked for this as a Christmas gift back in high school a couple years ago and now own it to this very day! So I can play this wonderful game anytime! :)
Omg I just had the biggest nostalgic moment. I remember playing this game everyday as a kid and I totally forgot about it until now. I think this was my favorite game as a kid....😭😭😭
+Wizzkid was You could also mix Fire and Ice with Bomb to get Elemental Bombs, but only once you found the scrolls for the seperate component Abilities.
This feels just like sitting on the carpet next to the tv watching my older siblings play... ahh, nostalgia. I’ll yell at this lp to use more flame/bomb power just like I did my siblings, too 😂
Nostalgia hit me hard out of nowhere and this long playthrough was exactly what I needed. I loved this game growing up and would LOVE to see a Switch release ^^
A Kid: Shiver Star is so cool! I wish I was there. The Kid's Brother: You are living there. Shiver Star is Earth in nuclear winter, which is a fancy name for a man-made ice age that lasts forever. *The kid has nightmares for a week, not about the nuclear winter, but that Kirby will come to Earth* (It didn't happen.) edit: forgot i made this
Okaaay, the ending where the Crystal Princess suddenly looks all "muhahaha", and that music, and then the video just ends... yeah, I didn't want to sleep tonight, anyway.
I also think that the princess is evil and Zero Two was the good one. I think that the princess used Kirby to get the power of the shards to complete her's evil plan.
Actually it shows that princess was possessed by Zero Two. If you see cutscene before facing Zero Two, you can see something came out from princess and fleed to the Dark Star, that could be Zero Two. The ending you mentioned is the bad ending, it occurred if you don't managed to get all crystal shards.
Guys, ignore this edgy scumbag Danielle. She’s been commenting about hating cops on a video called “evolution of angry sun in Mario games”. Who knows how long she’s been acting like a 9 year old having a temper tantrum?
I was five or so when this game was released. The only vivid memory I have of it is freaking out whenever Scarfy appeared on screen. My dad still sometimes teases me about it. He'll put a hand over one eye and growl "Eeeeehh, orange Kirby."
Watching the whole gameplay hit me so hard with Nostalgia, almost cried. This game was amazing and I also loved the mini games. Man this brought back so many memories 🙌🙌🙌
my first Kirby game ever! Had so much fun renting this back in the day. Whats so unique about was how it dared to be a sidescroller on a 3D console when people at the time we pushing this notion that sidescrollers were outdated.
Dear Madison Patrick This Game Was My Favorite In My Children Times (2006) And It Steel Be My Favorite By The Music And The Characters And Mostly The Stages Dising Maybe I Have To Give *Thanks* At The *Level Disinger*
I feel like this game is aesthetically perfect, I don't know why but the scenery in the forest, beach, or the snow levels makes me wanna be there so bad lol
Oh my goddddd I wasted way too much time on this game as a kid! It's my favorite Kirby game. Also WTF this game's soundtrack has no business being this good!
Out of all the Kirby games I own, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is my all time favourite Kirby game in the franchise! I beat it 100% in just a month. This game is great!
I used to love this game as a kid, i never had it at home but would always look forward to going to McDonalds to play it there. Man, good times, goooood times.
I love this game when I was a little kid I miss playing Kirby I remember it’s incomplete I want to play all over again I finally know what I didn’t know just to get the shards
Still my first and favorite Kirby game. I rented it in 2000 after getting my N64 as a 10th birthday present the previous December. The music, the graphics, everything is so magical about this game. Nintendo always release the games with the most imagination, and that's why they are so successful. They appeal to the kid within every spirit.
This is how you make a video game. I always got the bad ending because I didn’t catch on to the color matching until my console was too old. It gave me the willies. I also completely forgot about the multiplayer.
I never played Crystal Shards before, because I don't have Nintendo 64. However, I stumbled upon a clip, a compilation of bosses in Crystal Shards when I was young. I watched it very often, and I remember I was very scared of Zero Two back then. I never had watched the full gameplay until this point... Even so, I can feel memories returning to me
Omg the music is giving me so much nostalgia!!!! I know I was very small at the time maybe like 6 or 7 years old and I don't remember too much but I just have this memory of when my brother and mom would play this game just sitting in front of the tv trying to beat it. This takes me down memory lane ♥️ The good old days..
The first Kirby game I ever played. (Not counting Smash 64) I first played it in a McDonald's kiosk, then rented it from the video store, then eventually got it on the Wii Virtual Console.
I always wondered how such a game could fit on a N64 cart... It has some of the ost impressive graphics I have ever seen on the system. Everything looks so sharp and detailed, So unusual on the Nintendo 64! Ahead of its time.
The game was actually developed for the CD extension on the N64 but poor sales of the CD thing prompted this game (and others) to go on cartridge instead
Something about this one. It's a little slower paced, a little darker. The tone, the music, everything, it's just so beautiful. I'm really hoping Forgotten Land takes a page from this release (and please include a hard mode!!!)
wow i remember playing this when i was super young, it was on the wii though but lots, and i mean, LOTS of nostalgia watching this vid, the character models are pretty smooth for a n64 game.
The ending have 2 ending one ending is that you didn't collect all the missing crystal shard all through level and the other planet so you have bad ending with the evil smiling on that crystal fairy because the real final boss is possesd her body the true ending is if you collect all the missing crystal shard the shard will become full power and shoot the beam of light into the possesd fairy the true final boss will escape into space so have to battle him for the final battle together with the crystal fairy when you defeat the final boss that will be the true ending
The new age will never understand the 90's childhood. This was golden, like Super Smash Bros, Mario Party, Mario Kart 64, GoldenEye, Pokemon Stadium, Super Mario 64, Yoshi's Story, MY GOD! MAN A LOT OF MEMORIES (Shed's a tear.)
Nostalgia speaking, this is the best Kirby game, and even without nostalgia, it's still probably in the top 5 best Kirby games. The Factory on Shiver Star is especially noteworthy. Heck, the factory and shiver star's boss are likely what inspired Kirby: Planet Robobot (too bad Shiver Star never shows up in it).
What I love most about this game is the Visual Story Telling. No spoken dialogue, and no dialogue boxes or narration. It’s all expressive. It’s always nice seeing this game played, as it’s the first Kirby game I ever played.
The first kirby game in the 2000s. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards has one of my best soundtracks in the series.
x2
Acually the first kirby game is kirby's dream land
@ThatPlebJeb ok
Yeokyun Leo absolutely
Quiet Forest is the perfect autumn atmosphere
I was looking for gameplay of Kirby64 without someone talking over it, thank you for this video. What a fantastic game, it brings back such powerful nostalgia.
Right? soooo much nostalgia, I remember being a kid and renting this out in family video.
No lie, this is the first video game I ever played as a kid! I remember being blown away by the intro alone! This game will always have a special place in my ❤
:)
You never forget your first right haha
The combining ability mechanic is genius, it makes this my favorite kirby game by far.
How come they never did that again? The combinations were so much fun!!!
@@Wolfdragon92584 tears of the Kingdom is kind of doing that in a way 😂
Omg I'm gonna cry! I loved this game so much as a kid! (and still do) Damn this takes me back. I spent so many summer nights playing this...
+Darnell Waugh Ahhh the refrigerator ability was so cool! My favorite things to put together were the boomerang and ice abilities, which gave Kirby the ice skating ability. Dang, you make me want to go replay this game all over again! 😊
Same here :)
+kiko485 dude! You've gotta buy it again! too cool for gamestop

kiko485 Yay! =D 1+ for you!
This game will always be a big piece of my childhood. Just incredible.
Omg I just had the biggest nostalgic moment. I remember playing this game everyday as a kid and I totally forgot about it until now. I think this was my favorite game as a kid....😭😭😭
This game was great, i wish they would bring the copy mixing ability back.
They did, sort of
In squeak squad (Mouse attack in EU) you could mix fire, ice or spark with the sword to get an elemental sword
+Wizzkid was You could also mix Fire and Ice with Bomb to get Elemental Bombs, but only once you found the scrolls for the seperate component Abilities.
Nova has granted your wish
Man, do I have good news for you
@Danielle Smith your hatred will get you to hell so you better stop
Rest in Peace Satoru Iwata. Forever in our hearts!

@kiwibr 100% my guy, I’ve been playing it since it (finally) released on Switch!
Rock and moon. Makes rock animals.
@@luckyduck2928 Yesss, that’s probably my favorite one now. So good and versatile!
One of the best Kirby games, sharing the throne with Kirby Super Star.
100% Agreed
Super Star Ultra*
Baximus I liked squeak squad, considering it was my first kirby game.
B C T V
In my opinion, Squeak Squad did everything.. wrong.
What about kirby and the amazing mirror
That game was also great asf
This was my first Kirby game so I was kind of shocked when I learned there's more than one Waddle Dee.
1:24:57 Kirby: we’re here.
Dedede: Well then...
*throws Kirby*
Bye bye
@Eric VandenAvond This Kirbeh's clobbahed, YEET!

It will be coming in the Nintendo Switch Online expansion pass sometime after it releases.
Hey good news This game is now available on Nintendo switch
Kirby is the cutest Nintendo character ever X3
The Chaos Dragoness I know right so round and cute he's like a cute little pink marshmallow
Pikachu says otherwise.
Yeah, and the way he sounds in the anime is super cute!😊
I thoght it was yoshie
I yhink both
Kirby traversing these adorable places while killing everything with missiles and a gigantic flaming sword...
Shiver Star always makes me... shiver.
Pop star always makes me.... pop
It probably still does to this day, because Shiver Star is Earth!
Rock star always makes me... rock
Ripple star makes me ripple
All Star always makes me... get my game on and go play
AH the entire sound track was fire. I miss this game and Kirby Air Ride as well.
A Kid: Shiver Star is so cool! I wish I was there.
The Kid's Brother: You are living there. Shiver Star is Earth in nuclear winter, which is a fancy name for a man-made ice age that lasts forever.
*The kid has nightmares for a week, not about the nuclear winter, but that Kirby will come to Earth* (It didn't happen.)
edit: forgot i made this
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
Jeez, between Shiver Star and what I've heard about Splatoon and Pikmin, and Earth has it rough in Nintendo's corner of the multiverse.
one of the best Nintendo soundtracks ever. God I love this game.
My 2nd favourite boss theme EVER plays during the fight with Zero-Two. A masterpiece. Keep it up, HAL Labotary!!!!!
Okaaay, the ending where the Crystal Princess suddenly looks all "muhahaha", and that music, and then the video just ends... yeah, I didn't want to sleep tonight, anyway.

Cake, pie, fruit, sandwiches, roast beef - I'm getting hungry just watching this. ;)
Now you know how Kirby feel's. ;)

Pot roast not roast beef.
by far one of the cutest kirby games, and i honestly wish i could play the whole thing other than the demo
This game was so fun. Trying to find out all the different combos of special attacks.
My personal favorite is Electric Ice. It turns Kirby into a FRIDGE, that throws out food, and YOU ARE INDESTRUCTIBLE AS THAT FRIDGE.
This game was my childhood. That and Star Wars Episode 1: Racer.
I remember playing Star Wars Racers! It was my very first game.
omfg thank you
I grew up on this game when i was little so watching this again was just... wow

Actually DK64 fit in the cart just fine. The reason the Expansion Pak was required was to fix a game breaking bug.

One of my favorite Kirby Games, next to SuperStar Ultra ( DS ), Epic Yarn +, PlanetRobobot, Triple Deluxe, Dream Land, & The Forgotten Land
I like the missile power. Poor Muffin, never stood a chance.
A great game for the N64! It’s been so long since I play it
