    Hi Debbie - I cleaned my machine for the first time since I bought it a year ago. It had quite a bit of lint. Most of it was under the bobbin case. After I cleaned it, I noticed the bobbin sits better and I am not imagining that the bottom stitching is much improved. Thanks. I love all your videos. I have learned so much from you, especially not to sweat the small stuff and to relax my shoulders when sewing!

    Back just to let you know WHAT A DIFFERENCE ! I took that plate off and said oh my, so much lint etc in there and I changed my needle. Now my machine runs quiet as a mouse. It was making a clack clack sort of noise before and I didn't realize that might be the needle needing a change. Thanks again!

    Thank you so much Beautiful Debbie! I bought a very expensive Juki and I had not even thought about its maintenance. Mine did come with oil bottle and I will now be putting oil on it once every week per instructions on manual. Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this video!!!! 😊😊😊😊

    I totally agree with your advice! I do clean my machine every 3 bobbin changes and I do have it serviced annually. I use my Viking machine every day and these machines are not cheap so it's well worth the maintenance cost. I've also seen others use canned air to clean inside their machines but I was advised by my dealer never to use it. I do needle changes frequently and use quality thread and never have a problem with poor stitching. Thanks, Debbie, for all your info.

    I clean every 8 bobbin change unless it looks like it needs cleaning before hand. I use both a brush and pipe cleaner and was told that a top loading bobbin machine shouldnt be oiled, but a side/front loading bobbin must always be oiled. Great video thanks.

    Debbie, I finely got my new TL-2010Q Juki the other day. It sew like a dream. It sews straight stitches only but it will sew 1500 stitch per minute. It will sew through 12 layers of denim, I haven’t tried that yet. lol I bought it to make bags. My Viking/Husqvarna does rest of the hard work. But I love using the Juki it’s so much fun. There’s another Juki I want but I better wait awhile. Saving up for this one was fun but hard at the same time. Oh this machine you service yourself. No taking it to the shop. It’s all in the manual how to take it apart and where to put oil. So Sweet!

    Well done. I do have a hint for cleaningingvthe tension disks. Pull a pipe cleaner through like the thread path, never floss back and forth to get partials out of tension disks. Helps with build up between professional cleanings.

    I was just cleaning my machine today for the first time. It's a very old one so it's completely different, but this video really has a lot good tips about machines in general. I was taught to put a piece of scrap material under it, put the presser foot down and lower the needle until it's in the material. Such a position prevents damage to the needle if the machine gets hit or pushed around, it's kind of locked. To be honest, I leave the needle up as well, so I'm glad I'm not the only one. Great video!

    Q: Can someone please explain and show me how to use the vast amount of presser feet I inherited. Some common ones I know, but it would be nice if you could do a series showcasing 1-2 types a week or something like that. Thank you. 😘

    Place a piece of material over the plate when removing or replacing a needle, if for some reason the needle drops(or screws) it could fall into the crack kinda like toast landing butterside down. I have a piece of craft weight interfacing with my cleaning "kit". :)

    • @debbieshore
      @debbieshore  6 років тому

      maybe the lint has dropped down slightly, when you oil just out a tiny drop in the hole, it'll reach the parts it needs to!

    Hi Debbie, I don't know how else to get in touch with you but when I was watching Create and Craft with Sarah Payne using the Butterick she showed how the needle which uses 4 stitches to lock when pressing the middle button when the machine is not running. I have followed the instructions in the book but each time I press the middle lock button before I have done any sewing (to lock 4 stitches ar the beginning of my work) it just reverses every time, even when I have finished my work I lift the needle and press the lock button but again it just reverses. Am I doing something wrong???

    • @debbieshore

      Hi Gracie, the lock stitch only works on decorative stitches, on a straight stitch it will just reverse, hope that helps!

    • @karenjohns9837
      @karenjohns9837 6 років тому +1

      Diane Scholes I don't think the comment warrants "winding your neck in". She was just pointing out a couple of grammatical errors that any professional person would want to correct. These errors were the first thing I noticed before witnessing the video. She wasn't being nasty.

    • @dianescholes1707

      I think you miss my point,despite its lack of eloquence. In these videos we receive free ,professional,tailored advise. The videos are excellently presented in a simple format that we are learning from,there is no need to publicly criticise such minor mishaps.

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 6 років тому

      Diane Scholes it's very unprofessional to have spelling errors my goodness in these days where you have spell check?
      Don't you realize these people make money on their UA-cam channel?
      the only way this video is going to be found is by people who have already subscribe to her Channel. It is going to hurt her income if she does not correct the title because when people search on UA-cam this does not come up.
      They're not just doing it out of the kindness of their heart it is a business. And for a lot of people it's a big turn-off if you see spelling mistakes.

    Thank you very much for this useful video. You said we may not blow into the machine, but is it ok to vacuum clean t? I actually do that once in a while and it really removes almost all of it, I end the process with a small brush to make sure it is all away. But now I wonder whether I could damage the machine by doing so.
    Kind regards and thanks again

      Esther Scherchen you definitely should vacuum it out and not blow any air into your machine especially sergers.
      you can find specialty kits similar to computer repair kits that have a very thin nozzle for vacuuming.

    My Sewing Queen.
    Fantastic video tutorial. I learnt SOOO MUCH from you in less than 10 minutes. I didn't realize the amount of dust or fleece could be hidden under that small bobine. I was scared to manipulate mine but you gave me confidence.
    Debbie please I got a question for you. I am having problems sending the thread to the needle it tightens and gets BLOCKED and IMPOSSIBLE to take the thread to the needle. So I bring the foot down hoping to release the tension. One in a hundred times it works. I have been using this spool of coton/polyester and didn't have difficulty in threading the machine. This is a recent problem. Fine thread works well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKYOU. Just briefly, my 15 year old Newfoundland had a Stroke last Friday and the Vet put her to sleep. I was thinking of you.

      Knittyneeds I love Debbies videos too. There is a UA-cam channel called "man sewing" the guys name is Rob he used to or still does sewing machine maintenance maybe go to his newest video and describe what's happening he might know what to do. Good luck

    • @janemartin229
      @janemartin229 6 років тому +1

      If you are talking about threading the machine, you always do it with the foot up. Once the foot is lowered there is tension that holds the thread in place (in that knob with the numbers on it). Another thing I have learned is that you only turn the flywheel (on right side of machine) forward. I used to move it back and forth trying to get the thread loose! (Apparently that's a no-no.)

    • @debbieshore
      @debbieshore  6 років тому +2

      When the foot is down the tension is engaged, so thread with the foot up until you get to the needle, then foot down to make sure the thread is between the tension discs. It should be difficult to pull the thread through with the foot down. Is the thread catching anywhere, maybe on the side of the spool? Sometimes there is a little nick in the actual spool, if so, turn the spool over. Follow the thread to make sure there's nothing else obstructing it on the way. If you're still having trouble it may be time for a trip to a technician! Good luck!

    Wow who ever typed in your title needs spell check.
    Unless someone is subscribed to your channel, they are not going to find this particular video. Correct it and upload it again you will get more hits.
    Also I would NEVER blow air into my machine whether it's dry air or not. You should be buying something similar to a computer repair kit where you vacuum out the lint.
