Why does it matter if they're singing and different ages? It's just singing. They both sound great. Kirk always has to do some odd job in Stars Hollow, it's what he does. Besides, this scene is OBVIOUSLY about Luke and Lorelai.
It's not creepy that the two singers acting an old couple have a big age gap because if you saw the gilmore girls episode you'd have known that the play is being performed at an elementary school, and all other actors were supposed to be kids. Except for the guy, kirk, who's taking the role because inside the story the producer couldn't find the right kid for the role, and as someone already said, kirk is doing it because doing some odd job in Stars Hollow is just what he does. Although i'd like to point that throughout gilmore girls seasons kirk appears as a stage performer, film maker and actor many times, so we know that it's not that of a random job for him to do. Anyways to put a long story short: kirk's always creepy so that makes the whole thing not so creepy.
Totally agree. Kirk isn’t child predator creepy. He’s openly creepy in a wholesome and harmless way if that makes any sense. People think of Kirk and are like “oh yeah, he’s weird and creepy.” But they also know he’s the last person who would cause malicious harm to anyone.
