I have a 01classic 1500 and it is leaking from the caps. I was wondering if you had a video on how to do the whole job because I want to learn to do it all myself? What kind of manual do you recommend to be able to rebuild the bike? Thank you
I was going to try that and was told just to pull it apart our it would not hold up and you would have to then pull motor and do it all over again. Save the time and just pull the motor, good luck on getting riding again soon
Thank you, David. Vary helpful information.👌 My oil leak is coming out from underneath the Chrome rocker cover. The only difference is that my cycle is 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500a.
David, have you got a website? Want one? I feel like I owe you something (like building a website) for watching all your videos. I've got a '97 1500 Classic, and getting ready to pull the motor to fix a leak, which I'm pretty sure is the cam plug seal. Anything else I ought to do while I've got it apart?
Any way to bleed the hydraulic lash adjusters without removing the rocker arms? Could you submerge the whole case assembly in oil and try to pump the oils through by depressing the HLA's? Or maybe just keep the HLA resevior full?
Hey David so I have a 02 1500 fi and it’s leaking oil from the front upper half somewhere just wanted to say after watching your videos you really helped put my focus in the right direction but I am wondering do you happen to know the bolt spec for torque I’m just guessing by feel and can’t find the actual torque specs
On large engine covers I use a gasket adhesive mainly to hold it in position,, on head gasket nothing should be used,, rocker box on top of engine where cam is use no gasket and very thin RTV and RTV around end of camshaft plugs ,, top chrome valve cover uses graphite gasket and no RTV or adhesive is used
Does the engine have to be at Top Dead Center prior to the removal of the rocker box and cylinder head? I have a leaking 1996 Vulcan 88 1500, the head looks the same as yours...
No, but you will have to mark chain and sprocket with pain pen to get back to same spot, and will have to remove chain tensioner for that cylinder and reset it for installation as well as keeping upward tension on chain with like a bungee cord to keep chain on bottom sprocket,,, if you mess it up there is a plug on left side of engine under chrome cover to see timing market to get timing back,,,, good luck
David, this is Sean, I just bought a 2001 Vulcan 1500 Classic with 30,000 miles on it. It’s leaking oil at the top of the rear head, coming out just under chrome cover toward the back wheel. Can I get the cover off the head without pulling the motor, that’s more of a job then I wanted to get into and I don’t even have the space like a garage to do it. Only my back yard. What can I do? Thanks in advance for any help. Sean
I'm in the middle of a tear down this helped a ton on what I'm about to do on this ol bike thanks rider for the video.

Hey, what were the symptoms of your oil leak?
Thank you so much for all this valuable information sir!
Thanks for the video, incredibly useful.
Can I apply the rtv to the outside of that cap? Or possibly get to it with the engine in tact?
Can you do a video of the pattern for the cover bolts
Hey brother would you be able to do a video on fork oil and seal replacement?
Does the cam have to come out to change those round seals?

Hello can the gasket be changed while engine is still in the bike
How much would a job like this cost to repair?
What about the oil supply line o-rings
What is the torque on it?

Sorry man, dont see any way around pulling engine at least part way to get clearance between head and frame
David Anderson I just seen that both heads are leaking in the same place, it must be the rocker boxes, damn oh I hate it
Can anyone send me links to head removal without removing engine from frame?
You have to remove engine, Sorry, no way around it
You can’t lower it and remove while it’s still in frame?
@@louiscavarretta3923 still have to remove exhausted, drive shaft, radiator so your just about got it out anyway
