    This is a stellar show! They are tight. Incredible that 13 days prior to this show Dark Side of Moon was released. No one could have imagined..... The opener tunes are fabulous - what a way to start a show. And wow, Any Colour You Like is sensational. Thank you for posting this treasure!

      I've come back to this show because it's excellent. I love that they sing the line "Lying supine in the sunshine" in this live version - made me smile.
      Thanx again for this upload. It's a gem.

    Careful with that axe is the first metal song ever and officially first death growl in Rock.

    Man, what band opens a show with a 14 minute song? Pink Floyd shows up to this time were awesome streched out songs of pure jamming. Seeing them live was the ultimate.

      Grateful Dead have and continue to open with 14 minute jams.

    • @danielm4114

      Well, the Grateful Dead are one example. Miles Davis is another. John Coltrane used to play My Favorite Things for an hour at a time. Hell, even the Animal played songs for 40 minutes just because they could. Floyd's great, but they are far from the innovators high school stoners in the 70s thought they were. Do yourself a favor and check out bands of the same era like Hawkwind or Ash Ra Tempel or Can or Popul Vuh that were coming out of Europe and doing things WAY further out than the 'trippiest' Floyd album. There are also worthy contemporary bands such as Oresund Space Collective, Oulu Space Jam Collective, Papir, Habushibire, Electric Moon that routinely jam for 40 minutes plus. It's all out there man, just gotta look.

      With all due respect I am going to side with the 70s high school stoners and say Pink Floyd blows the other bands you listed off the stage. Doesn’t mean the others aren’t good but Floyd is tops.

    Incredible! This sounds rather early from the Dark Side Of The Moon tour. NO sax during Money was interesting. They STILL had a raw and rough edge during live shows back the!

      @@ummagumma7826 No. The original Boston Music Hall was what is now called the Orpheum. The Music Hall that I saw many concerts in started as the Metroplitan Theater, which was renamed the Music Hall. That became the Wang Center, and now it is known as the Boch Center.

    I was at this show. Absolutely mindblowing. At that point, the long piece was called Eclipse, not yet Dark Side Of The Moon. They were out of this world live, as a 4 piece.

      Is this venue still standing?

    • @Craigevansagain
      @Craigevansagain 10 місяців тому +5

      @FuzzbeeMorse Indeed. The story behind that was that back in the early days of 1972, the then pre-production album was toured under the title "Dark Side Of The Moon: A Piece For Assorted Lunatics", however by spring 1972 it was renamed "Eclipse" because an obscure British rock band, Medicine Head, had just released an album also called "Dark Side Of The Moon"! However when Medicine Head's record flopped, Pink Floyd eventually felt free to revert "Eclipse" to "Dark Side Of The Moon".

    This performance of Careful in the beginning before the scream, incredible. Pink Floyd was one of the first groups that showed me the idea of performing the same song differently at every show. Sometimes slower but usually longer. 5:45 that sounds so ear pleasing, so harmonious, it's hard to put it into words at the moment. The studio version is good in its own right but Pink Floyd is just one of those bands where I preferred their live renditions more than their albums, exceptions and overlap all around though.
