    I know it must get a little redundant for you to do chippy-choppy but I could watch you do this ALL DAY LONG! And this is a really pretty one! Really interesting-the difference in the translucency between Pardo and Premo! I bought some Pardo trans recently and haven't given it a try yet-this may be the time! Thanks for the video and all you do for us, Deb!!

    I find that like you sometimes it is good to get the rant out in the open and off my chest. Like you, NO ONE can tell me what or where to shop. There are several companies that I do not like because of the background music so I now wear earbuds and listen to what kind of music that I like and try to put it out of my head, finish shopping, pay, and get out. Blessings.

    Truly stunning - just wonderful. I love faux stones - collected rocks as a little girl. But to think that one day I would see an artist create the look of rocks/stones I’ve never seen outside my collection on Pinterest, could never have occurred to me before investigating polymer clay.
    Your work, by far, exceeds anything I’ve had the pleasure to watch. You consistently create new looks while using the same method - your “chippy choppy”.
    I still can’t get over the difference of the look of pre-bake then baked - usually. I am pretty certain, once I start my own journey, that this part will take me the longest. You are so efficient and make the process look so easy. Right. It can’t be!! (Laughing to (at) myself!
    This cutter is another favorite. It wasn’t always, but it sure is now. It’s no small wonder that those in your group wanted you to do a tutorial on this. That light you have for checking translucency rocks. It totally made a difference when you put it on its side. I had no idea Pardo was that good. Like you, I preferred the chunks of the Premo pendant. Sorry about your hands!
    Thank you so much for your excellent and amazing creativity and i still have to add, for sharing it with us for free. I have no clue how you do it, but am so grateful you do! Have a lovely day!🥰🤗

    I love Pardo translucent but I have trouble with scaling even though I make sure there are no bubbles. Even the most invisible bubble turns into a horrible white spot.
    The colour and transparency are wonderful though, so I'm not giving up yet!

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  7 місяців тому

      Every translucent can have plaquing, but it’s nothing to do with bubbles. You shouldn’t see much plaquing with this technique, though.

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  7 місяців тому

      Plaquing, also known as mooning, is a pattern of little pockets of air that develop inside of some brands of polymer clay as it cures. All brands and colors of clay will do this. It is a quite predictable pattern of approximately 1/8″ “moons” that show up. Really only visible in translucent clay, plaques don’t seem to be caused by air pockets trapped in the clay during careless conditioning. Rather they seem to be due to gases forming during baking and thicker pieces suffer more. Plaques can be used to great advantage when making faux stones such as jade or opal.
      Plaques can be difficult to prevent, but can be somewhat minimized if you bake in such a way that your project warms very slowly. Start in a cold oven and make sure to cover the item well, perhaps even insulating in corn starch or under a lid.

    • @clayboutique

      It depends what I’m making, tbh. I do like Cernit trans, but it’s a bit soft to do things like canes. Pardo is really good for faux stones, if it it’s chippy choppy, otherwise I find it hard to condition. Premo white trans is probably my main go to, though.
