Its sad that they change again the format, i loved the 2v2 one.
Also now it seems you have now many tournaments without any price money to only have the chance to get to the wc, where 4 players take all the money. That means for most of the players grinding a half year for literally nothing.
Hope this is only for this year and next year we get back a better esports system.

hope for the qualifier tournaments. there could be something nice coming up from that side. and as far as i know nando didnt regulate pricepools for the qualifier tournaments, so it could even be worth the time. the 18k are only for the world cup.
why they dropped the teamsystem makes absolutely no sense. first they force orgs to let players go, and others to get a second player with introducing 2v2 and then they kill it 1 yr later, probably without any thought about consequences for players and orgs.

It's insane to me how Nadeo changes the system every(!) year, from team to solo, from canceling to existing, from "just for fun, don't take it serious" to serious, while wanting to grow the scene, it's actually impossible to have that work out
but I do enjoy the 1v1v1v1... format more than team based stuff, it's cooler to have everyone on the server without having to watch 10 games at the same time and each one taking hours

  • @IroAppe
    @IroAppe Місяць тому +2

I will say it always: I liked the creative 6 lappers the most. Golden time of Trackmania ESports. Not with the strange rules, that was a downer, but for watching it was the best there is. And these maps! They are still stuck in my brain: The turn around on vertical ice surfaces, the skiing past poles down at the end of each round, the funnels that you drive along, the map with the backwards part. Even after the 6-lappers were over, the following maps still at least had very creative features and identities in it. That's trackmania for me. Go crazy. Such a good time!
And now, well, I am bored by Trackmania ESports again to be honest. Before 2020 I was also never interested to watch TM ESports cups, but that changed when they started to get so incredibly exciting, that these moments remain forever in my memories. And now that short-lived time is now gone, it seems.

I feel like these maps are more of a showcase of the guidelines like an actual map pack meant for a competition. Like, how easy (map 1) or how hard (no.5) a map can be, how focused on one style it can be (2,4). I think map 3 is like the most normal stage you could make.

So GA is a homologated tournament? So surely the GA organizers must've known about the TMWT plans? They needed to ensure that the maps were matching all the criteria, cup mode, no forbidden sponsors, etc...? Really surprised none of it leaked before the announcement.

2v2 was so incredibly cool... I got into it at the very end when Wirtual posted his video casting and I was so excited for a new season only to find out all of the cool and unique aspects are gone and my interest in watching has tanked. If they wanted it to be more approachable then fine, you have a short qualifying period and then all the new people who place well can get put in contact to form teams or something... I'm just watching the first map so far but identities being gone sucks too

It's sad to see 2v2 go. I really enjoyed it. But at the same time, I think a solo competition is more appealing because you don't have to rely on anyone else. If there's anyone to blame, it's you. And I think it makes it a lot easier to start competing. You don't have to find a good teammate. But I really hope this doesn't mean that BIG has to choose between you and Massa.
What I really enjoyed was having a fixed date on the weekends when I could watch Trackmania eSport with the boys. I know this system was very bad for the players. Grinding maps for 100s of hours, "sacrificing" their weekends for 8-10 weeks in a row and in the end the prize money was ... meh. So I look forward to see how the new community tournament format works out. At the moment I don't think it will have the same excitement as TMGL/TMWT, but I don't want to be biased. :D
I am also looking forward to tournaments where you dont have to be part of an organisation to compete, like it has been the last few years where the spots are not owned by the players but by the orgs.
But I guess like most people in the community I am very angry at nadeo for not communicating with anyone at all. It is so sad to see how many esports orgs closed their TM team because Nadeo did not say anything. Lets see how much damage this has caused.
And I dont like that its only stadium car. I mean maybe I am biased because that would give you a huge advantage, but at the same time I dont really understand why not. Yes, the stadium car has always been the competitive car. But there have been great tournaments in other environments. And the fact that you can change cars mid-race is something that has never been done before. So technically it is the first time that you do not really have to choose an environment. So why not atleast try it? But to be fair, I have never played a competition myself. I have only been following TM esports since TM2020 and I am very bad at the new envs, so who am I to judge if this is right.

Excited that there is going to be another competitive league. Shame that the format is so different but does mean that some players get a chance again that aren't in big orgs.
Like what happened with Miquattro qualifying to be promoted up then being denied because of team selections.
So going to be cool to see who comes out of the woodwork to get qualified. Like Paco / Scrapie / Dexter etc
It gives people the hope to play at the top level where as that didn't feasibly exist before. Think the NZ team last year that knocked out Sprout.
The entire tourney could be full of underdog stories like that. Could be cool

I am really sad seeing duos go, maybe they will come back later.. but as it feels, the circuit is supposed to be more open to all, and i think for some players it would be harder to find a teammate..
as for the prize money and streaming making maybe more money than the circuit.. i think no one is preventing the tournament organizers so add price money to the tournaments itself, right? so I think maybe nadeo is approching it more like the valve/cs style, with numerous organiszers having a league and tournaments with their own pricemoney over the year like ESL and Blast.. so maybe there will be some torunaments, even like the BIG Lan in the future, where you can earn money, and collect points for the playoffs

At least we can count on Nadeo to be disappointed when it comes to E-Sports…
The only possible explanation I can come up with is that they tried to work on something bigger/better till the last second but since it didn‘t work out they had to use this as the gap filler and couldn‘t communicate it earlier. Still unprofessional af but I guess still better than nothing at all and it might at least keep some of the old players somewhat invested and give upcoming players somewhat of an incentive to keep improving. We really need a huge improvement for 2025 tho!

rarely commenting luv ur content granady ;D but even critics from a lurker and non TM player might be interesting
As a Only TM content watcher of various Content creators and streamers and not even playing the game i have to say im glad the overall format is back but the state it came back in feels so lackluster
    - first of all i dont like the idea including basicly every single player (regions stuff etc.) were talking about e-sports which should be the pinnacle of the game atleast playerwise and skill wise giving everyone a chance to compete is nice but they allready had alot of pro players who allready competed for years and made themself a name but yet it feels like they were basicly all dropped and told "start from the beginning like everyone else" some kind of headstart or acknoledgment for their past performance would have been nice
    - then giving away the responsibility of hosting tournaments and events to players/third party organizers feels kinda weird
    - the mappack that got released seems for me EASY (just a content watcher) if ur trying to compete at the top maps shouldnt be easy and for everyone as stated above standing at the top of the game shouldnt be played by anyone, if ur striving to be one and qualify for a Top 8 spot in the end the mapps should be way harder and i miss the identities were even pros had to be considerate about speed, angle, setup etc.
    - for 1v1v1v1 format which will most likely be featured in most tournaments its ok even tho i will miss the 2v2 team setup from last TMWT felt just way more exciting and you were able to see alot of times incase one player failed or slit out or whatever you're teammate was there to atleast secure some points or prevent the other team from scoring very well
    - the actual runtime of the whole World Tour seems way to long for me especially for a total prize pool of 18k (shared between top 4) over the course of 6 months

Me after I finished the video: 😑
    - Maps don't look exiting
    - 2vs2 > everyone vs everyone
    - Weird/Confusing qualification
    - Only Stadium car? Why? I don't get it.
Why would they release two new cars and not include them in TM E-Sport?
That makes no sense to me.
If they don't want full Rally or Snow map, fine I guess.
In my opinion TM E-Sports should include as much as possible, from what TM has to offer.
I hope this will only be a temporary format for TM E-Sport.
I guess it's better than nothing.

Sad for 2v2. Personally I like watching fast learning completions. Watching players work things out in real time is my favorite part of trackmania viewing. I watched TMGL back when it was six lapers, but lately I've just watched a little of the larger events. I think the reason they changed the 2v2 system is because of decreasing view numbers, but I think there are a lot of other factors at play. Would be nice to see some team learning, like when you and Lars played that short cutting comp a few years ago.

also, with the (also stupid) nationality rule and duo, someone like scrapie or mudda couldn't really compete: just name one belgian/australian who would do anything but handicap them.

Ubisoft or/and Nadeo could litteraly sell a 10 euro tickets within the game to found the esports, allowing, I don't know, allowing to the buyers, the right to chose, to vote, identities and map pool for the next season, and we will buying it.

At first Nadeo says that they want to do exactly that - inspire the community to take part with their own events - and then they make the format so fixed, that we can only see the same tournaments with the same style and maps.
Especially the duration: 50-70 seconds. No multilaps, no tournaments with fewer maps but longer maps, or more maps and shorter maps. That's EXACTLY the variety that would have been cool. But no, they fix down the duration, the style and everything.

No communication to them whatsoever, a competition-format that does not support a team but rather an individual, and like you mention, much more difficult to cast and with it showcase sponsors. Is that bad? From a professional e-sports athlete; probably, not a lot of incentive for teams to retain you and pay you a salary. For the viewer, I think so also, but I don't know for sure.

from a spectator point of view the 2v2 format with maps having that "identity" etc was really enjoyable. maybe maps that are made to "look cool" arent the best for players but i think an esport needs to be primarily concerned with its feasibility to attract an audience and in that sense those maps and that format was really quite enjoyable.
tm isnt that big of a game, it needs to attract non players as spectators, like many esports have, for example RTS esport almost entirely have relied on being able to attract non players to still watch. these maps arent interesting at all from a non-player perspective. theyre not flashy or cool, as a result theres like zero interest to watch esport on this from a non player perspective.

Maps are relatively boring and it is missing atleast a single map for each rally and snow car. I dont expect Zerator level maps but they should be more interesting then slightly harder cup of the day maps.

Not that it matters when they rely on third party tournaments. Maybe everyone will give nadeo the middle finger and make their tournaments so they arent homologated.

But pros haaaaate the other cars, so clearly we should just see them as purely for the silly casuals, who love dumb gimmicks like the new cars. Because they are not performing like the pros which are very professional, you see?
I also think they should accomodate the poor pros more, by getting rid of everything but normal road blocks, I think that would make for an even better PrO EnViRoNmEnT.

I think a statement about the vision Nadeo has for TM E-Sport would be super interesting and might explain some decisions they made.
E.g. world cup qualification for regionals is probably just a trick to make sure they have players from all regions. Just imagine how interesting an EU players only world cup would be for other regions... surely most viewers are from EU, but could still loose lots of interest outside EU which in turn is really bad if they want to grow TM as an E-Sport.
Stakeholder Management obviously is a disaster... It's definitely impossible to make everyone happy, but it looks like they are not even trying...
Regarding format etc... I think one of the most interesting parts of TM is that it has such a huge variety both in the game itself, but also in the formats that are possible to do with it. So constraining all the homogalactic tournaments to be basically the same is a big loss for me as a viewer. E.g. with SOTW and OOTW to me it looks like the community is growing a lot and I would love to see something similar also in an E-Sport Context.

14:00 I imagine it'll be similar to the football world cup where they want representation from more countries and then each region will have a quali tournament with a set number of qualifiers from that region. If it is this way it is kinda stupid because it will mean worse players from less competitive regions will get in while better players from more competitive regions won't make it. At least if im understanding this correctly.
Just something, but you should put the current song name in your overlay. Pretty sure there are existing plugins for this that I've seen people use.

why? :D I always said I like them and out of a viewer perspective many enjoyed them as well. Of course not talking about random bad ones but good exciting identities made maps more exciting, especially when having to play them for multiple months

    • @Lackadal

@@GranaDyTVmost of the times identities didnt really add much to the map imo, they rather took away from the whole map by making the audience and players on one specific part rather than the whole race - this wasnt of course the case for all of, slowdown, edge, pool, just to name a few, are great examples for identities. If all of them were more mundane like that, I would really enjoy them, but the fact that they were rather more over the top than not imo, I really didnt enjoy them and rather have them left out
