    I'm sure they checked thoroughly for blood but just a little reminder for everyone. I shot a doe on a drive during the Wisconsin doe hunt with my .270. Bullet went in a little back and buried in the offside shoulder. No exit wound. We did not find a single drop of blood in the fresh snow. I followed her tracks almost 100yards through the brush and found her piled up. Always make sure to give a thorough search after shooting at a deer. Best of luck to anyone still getting out to the woods!

    I have been binge watching THP the last few months and have really come to appreciate the way this group hunts. They have always demonstrated professional and ethical hunting. However, some of the firearms season hunts leave me with concerns regarding ethical shots and hunter safety; this video being the most substantial with the 4 wild shots at a deer on the run in timber. Lest we forget that their driver came rolling over that same ridge not too long afterwards. I will of course continue to watch the series but hope that they further emphasize the importance of good shot selection and safety amongst their team and viewers. Keep the content coming and stay safe!

      So what your saying is the hunter was behind a hill and was safe!?
      I wonder if he would have shot if he was standing there …….
      Wow

    • @bsummers00
      @bsummers00 2 роки тому +9

      @@davesch1512 I was identifying that the driver, according to the editing was just over the hill and thus the shots in that direction were not safe at all. Sorry if that wasnt easy to interpret. No shots in the direction of another person are safe, no matter how much cover is between. Rifle bullets can richochet and/or fly through a variety of landscape features.

      Yeah one video from Wisconsin gun opener I think I counted like 11 shots from two guys for one deer with neighbors right behind where they were shooting. Its not like the deer was far away or sprinting either. At that point it might be time to hang it up until you can hit the broad side of a barn at 80 yards.

      I'm not a big fan of drives! Hard to get a ethical shot on a running deer. When ever we do it , we walk real slow and just try to wind bump them. So they don't take off running 100 mph. They just move off at a slower pace. Only have done it a few times. It's alot more exciting for me to watch a buck walk into a oak flat and wait for the perfect shot. Which sometimes takes a while for the deer to take a few more steps to get a shot. That's when I get my rush, just saying to myself ( come on just a few more steps and turn broadside). That gets my heart beating!!

      @@FiredupoutdoorsLA not really haha! They aren’t what I would consider “nice ones” in most places but it’s a unique hunt. Truly a swamp hunt. Paddling a pirogue in the dark bc it’s more water than land. I would say a good mature buck would be under just at or around 100” maybe a little less. They found a 130-140” dead head a few years ago and it was considered a “monster”. I got 3 lottery gator tags for Maurepas several years ago. Caught all 3 the first night. It’s infested with gators. Lots of pigs too

    It is good to see you guys spend the time and effort to drive deer. It seems to be a dying sport. Brings back good memories of the 70s and 80s with my dad and brothers who would spend the entire season during the day driving deer and sometimes spend a half pf that day dragging out the kill from miles in. Hard work but it usually paid off with someone getting a monster. Don't know why but there was a tradition that if you missed a buck. you got your shirt tail cut off and it was hung up in the lodge with your name on it... Had a lot of tailless shirts in my younger days, Loved your video, good stuff, many thanks thumbs up!!!
