An upholstery needle works well. They’re usually metal and have a large eye. You can get them at any store that has a sewing section and they are inexpensive. My first journal was very “junky” because I didn’t have many supplies. Recycled many cereal boxes and lots of fabric from my sewing stash. Even old sewing patterns and magazine pages.

Great video. We all need to go back to basic once a year. My granddaughter is starting to do some crafting. One evening I gave her a big bag full of all kinds of papers , ephemera etc. she came back and I cleaned from behind my bed in the corner. I had tubs of all sizes full of different crafting materials. I was overwhelmed. Where did it come from. I gave her a new we r memory keeper score board, Martha Stewart scoreboard. Small electric Gemini I hardly used. I have the bigger Gemini. I have the big Sizzix machine and two smaller ones I will keep myself. Gave her my first Cuttlebug I bought. More tons of paper , she had to get a cart to take this stuff to her car. I still have to clean under my bed, walk in closet, coat closet loaded with stuff. I want to cry. I just don’t want all these supplies anymore. I am 77 yrs old. Just want a few things. I have a brand new machine I never used I forget what’s called foiling machine. It’s electric. Bought on HSN shopping years ago. Why did I ever buy it. I am so happy she took all this stuff so far because no one else in the family want nothing to do with crafting. I still got tons of stuff to clean and give her. Sad thing is I still buy Tim Holtz, stamperia, couple others. Just a little that is. I can’t wait till most of my stuff is gone. I can breathe. But I wished I had all these supplies when I was younger. I live in a apartment. Have no craft room. I craft in my living room. I don’t craft like I used too. Watch craft videos all day and night. Then to tired to craft. Loved and enjoyed watching your video.

I would say: back to the roots! Thank you for doing this. I've made many things in my life, painting, sewing, beading, card design ... and now I'm a bit obsessed with junkjournaling. I know I can use all my stuff for it and don't need to buy much, but some newbies don't know and think they need all stuff. So it's good that you tell them "use what you have" and that's enough for a start. You always do a very good job, you are honest, a positive person with a sence of humor and I love all your videos. It's not always my style but it doesn't matter, cos everyone has or develops their own, but you inspire me so much and I'm very grateful for this. Very warm regards
    Tanja

I have a number of books; however, some the old books i will refuse to use due to their value and information they contain, others i will be ve6 happy to sacrafice to a junk jurnal. I have a book written and signed by Robert E Lee. I am not going to destroy that book.
I became interested in junk jurnaling when i saw a video on it and researched to find out what it was. I was into card making; so, to me, junk jurnalling does not equate to messy, but using junk and unwanted stuff.

I'm glad you started from the beginning. I have just bought a container of 4 colors of ink. The Distress ink. It has Hickory Smoke, Vintage photo, Ground Expresso, and Black soot. The thing is I didn't have enough money to buy the applicator and tried using those triangular makeup sponges which use up a lot of ink and go dry quickly. Also if I was to keep the cover open and use the lightest color for instance, the other 3 pads are open to air and I believe they may dry out before I use them. It's a weird design. 1 item was 30% off so I thought I'd be smart and buy the more expensive 4 color mix. What can I do to stop the ink from drying out? I have a LOT of not card stock thick 1 sided 12 x 12 scrapbook paper in really odd colors. A new company called Temu recently started up and things were 50 - 90% off and I bought a lot of plant and flower what I thought were sticker but they are just stuck to clear plastic. I did try them and the clear plastic mostly disappears unless I use too much glue stick. I looked around and have a lot useful stuff but no stamps to do all the stamping you do. I'm on a small pension and can't afford to go out and buy the real tools.
