For those who are interested: Frank is Frank Liew. Het helped setting up a business in Hong Kong called Blackbird Automotive for founder TK Mak. Mr Mak also owns Ferrari dealership Blackbird Concessionaires Hong Kong, and he is the owner of the P80/C.
Gustavo Florio Bernardi I’m sure they mean in the front since there are no headlights. It’s not so obvious IMO but definitely a design cue that influenced design.
First thing I noticed in the video, was how good the tire/rim combo was! So much nicer looking than some of the current super low profile tires; not to mention more practical in most real world driving conditions. It would be nice to see all high performance manufactures, adopt this approach!
I think Henry did the right thing to just let the guy talk about the car. Clearly he's the one who knows the car inside out. It’s a one-off and not many people have knowledge on why and how this car was built and designed. It was a good coverage and I very much enjoyed the guy’s delivery on the technicality of the design… not your regular car talk which is refreshing... not something your basic keyboard warrior would understand.
Catchpole, where do you find these people? This guy dresses like no-one else at Ferrari (just look in the background of the entire video at all the men in full Ferrari swag), and yet he comes off as passionate and brilliant and ready and willing to compromise and throw current trends out the window to make the car the client wanted. I thought nothing of this car when I saw pics, but this interview makes me realise it came from a deep passion for the brand and its history, culminating in what will surely be a excellent track weapon! Thank you for all of what you do at Carfection, spreading and embedding the love of the automobile!
Cred to Henry for getting the access, and all the insights from the guy who helped the owner create this beauty. I agree, so pure but again so many details made with such effort. Thanks!
Gorgeous shape, would have pegged it for a reimagined pantera, no bad thing at all, but would love to see the design job finished i.e. Dressed with lights etc as a proper road car. Plus one for the side walls and the low roofline!
Here here...! Low profile can be a nice show and cruising look, but proper meat at the sidewall suits actual driving performance on both road and track, without scuppering a wheel every time you ride a curb or find a pothole. Glorious creature.
I think it's excellent they don't talk about the numbers. The concept behind this car as well as the beauty is so much more. A genuine tribute to the old SP cars
Met Frank at Pebble Beach and we discussed the car at length as we were both working on conceptually similar designs. A real homage to a number of different Ferraris and Frank is a great guy to talk to. Now if I would just push my project design ahead.......
So pleased to see decent proportions for wheels and tyres on a car again! Love both this and the new De Tomaso, though this is quite Pantera like from some angles.... Great effort everyone, things are looking up once more!
I couldn't understand how beautiful this car is untill i seen it in the carbon , well done ferrari and the rich man who payed for it and thank you for showing it off , proper work of art .
Come on, guys! Never ever go away from 24/25 frames per second. Edit: I thought we learned our lesson from the Panamera video 😉 You lose your cinematic grandeur.
And what about the front end? Hardly any mention, but it looks stellar!! So smooth, a truely modern throwback, my goodness. Sadly, if it was mine, I would have specced it with a gt interior and drive it every day. Beautiful!
DreamCarDriving // As long as you manage to bring in at least 500,000$ per year. Exotic cars are terrible financial decisions. It’s a luxury, for those who can easily afford them, not for people to go into debt or stretch themselves to afford.
It’s more organic and analog not using computers to design. Imperfection exists in nature too, and imperfection can make all sorts of things more beautiful. In music too.
Love this car... but how many 488 chassis based cars do they have to rehash. Start from fresh concepts already. Good work on the sidewall though... tough
It would be interesting for sure, my money is on the Ferrari. It probably has a modified 488 Pista engine with 730bhp (20 more than the pista because of modifications, I guess). They probably took out 100kg, maybe even more, taking it to around 1100kg. So yes, this is probably more powerful and lighter than the Ford.
That car looks too perfect to be left at a one off. I understand the value to the owner. I hope that Ferrari incorporates many of the styling elements into a new model. My favorite Ferrari models are the F430 and the 488.
... that said, the DeTomaso looks more like a Ferrari P4 than anything else. It is like the design studios were across the hall from each other and everyone got confused on the first day. Both beautiful, they just resemble each other’s ancestors.
The De Tomaso looks like a Ferrari and the Ferrari looks like a De Tomaso.
Beat me to it! This is a new Pantera surely!
true, the real question is which on would you pick?
Im going with the new de tomaso , timeless lines .
Detomato is a copy of Ferrari
You could also argue that the De Tomaso tomaso traces its look back to the alfa romeo T33 Stradale, especially in the rear view.
🤣

Ferraris way of placating it's Asian customers while taking more of their money. Give em what they want even if it's a Frankenstein
Dino S they’ve also done the same thing for James glickenhaus and Eric Clapton...anyone with enough money can have their own one-off Ferrari.
It's like Ford GT & Vulcan had a baby together!
Borginator the rear end is definitely gt40
Tell me where the hell you see a Vulcan in this Ferrari?!
Gustavo Florio Bernardi I’m sure they mean in the front since there are no headlights. It’s not so obvious IMO but definitely a design cue that influenced design.
Ferrari was always stealing from Ford.
@@chamade166 Yeh, sure thing. 🤣
3:30 that moment when Kato Wataru from Liberty Walk shows up to find his next widebody project.
I caught that too, excited to see what that mad genius comes up with!
I thought it was him.
lol he doesnt even wide body his own f40.
In the 70s those tyres would've probably been considered as ultra low profile! They look damn good.

That awkward moment when Ferrari brings a red Ford GT to Goodwood by accident
exactly, that's wat i thought it looked like
Was just about to comment the very same..
You beat me to it
Looks nothing like a Ford.
Better yet the moment a De Tomaso looks more like a tribute car to a Ferrari than a real Ferrari .
First thing I noticed in the video, was how good the tire/rim combo was! So much nicer looking than some of the current super low profile tires; not to mention more practical in most real world driving conditions. It would be nice to see all high performance manufactures, adopt this approach!
The De Tomaso looks more like a tribute to old Ferraris than this does. This looks more like the Ford GT.
the mixture of the way your talk about the car and the nice shots of it make it by far the best car talk video I have ever seen! Love it!

Not usually a fan of these one offs but that is a real stunner.
Why do I feel like he's talking to a guy from the grad scheme thats borrowed his dads jacket XD
Yes. But whose trousers?
Stunning Ferrari. Such a pity they don't do a production road version

The 80s hit hard in the design and I like it.
Wtf is that guy wearing can someone get him some clothes that fit?
Hammer pants meets Gangam style
Lolol
And by the way... Who the F. Is that guy? Designer I guess?
He looks like a hobo...
It's really expensive clothes (not that it change anything), the way they fit is on purpose. I like his style, to each their own :)

idk why, but seeing this made me a bit emotional. I'm a Porsche guy, but this is beautiful.
Unlike that hideous thing BMW showed a couple weeks ago.
This car is absolutely spectacular. She is just stunning. Beautiful job Ferrari!

I love the sensible Tyre-to-Wheel ratios I've seen lately.
Never thought a car with no headlights could look so right!
Top marks for proper size wheels and tyres. Nicely done.

Yes, the sidewalls look awesome.
Not sure what’s more impressive. The car or that head of hair.
It looks like a Ferrari + Ford mashed together into kit.
OMG. I'm in love. Such a classic look

Stunning car. Cannot help thinking every time I look at it. It could very well have a detomaso badge on it and be the new Pantera

I don’t always commission custom Ferraris, but when I do, I make sure it looks like a gt40.
wonder how much Ferraris sucked him dry for before they turned over that Frankenstein anomaly posing as a car
It's quite a stunning and beautiful design.
The design kinda reminds me of the Vulcan.
So what?
Love the Goodwood content!

Best looking modern Ferrari sense the 288 GTO, period.
Did he say the "core" of the car was a Ford GT? Or did I hear him wrong?
488 gt3
Might as well be

Funny, because the sidewall was about the only thing I didn't particularly like about the car. The rest is amazing. Absolutely beautiful.
