It genuinely amazes me that each Ulcerate album sounds like a group of musicians who have finally reached a sonic pinnacle, finally having perfected their sound and style after what might as well have been years of artistic toiling. And yet, Ulcerate is almost completely reinvented with each release. True genius.
Love how Ulcerate is experimenting even more with dynamics. I don't know how, but they always manage to invoke this pathos and foreboding, without which an Ulcerate track is incomplete.
@@asdneffy If not experimenting, they're definitely continuing to build upon that established sound and tinker with new ways to implement it. Which is basically the definition of experimentation, so..........
Ulcerate is a band that is in a whole other realm of musicality, and their music is far from anything else I have heard before. Each song is like a portal to an unknown world. I am blown away from their creativity and style. How they developed their sound and figured out how to get everything to melt together like this is beyond me, but I am honored to listen to these amazing hymns.
Ulcerate just made a new fan tonight. I like Death Metal, but I just haven't heard Ulcerate a lot until now. Tonight, I will change that. I am thus converted as a fan of this amazing band. 🤘🤘🎸
It's gotta be difficult to find a visual style that fits this type of music, so kudos to whoever's been crafting these music videos. They accompany the music perfectly.
The drummer Jamie does the cover art of the albums. Can't remember if he does these as well. He's a front end web developer as well so shouldn't be beyond him
The lead up to this release has had me listening to their entire discography. Stare Into Death And Be Still was when I discovered Ulcerate and I was afraid I would never enjoy another album as much as that one ever again. I tried listening to their entire discography after and I just enjoyed their 2020 release so much their older content didn't click with me. Then I saw them live and went back and it gets better with every play through. These two pre-releases have me so excited for the complete album! It is going to be incredible. Best metal band of all time, best drummer alive. Desolation is the arc of life's motion🤘
SIDABS is my least favorite Ulcerate album tbh. Give Shrines another listen. Once you better understand the songs on that album, you'll forever be wishing you could hear it again for the first time. I'm legitimately jealous
Are you me? 😅 Stare Into Death... was my introduction and is my fave metal album. The albums prior just don't give me the same emotions. I also saw them live supporting Mayhem. These new songs are exactly what I had hoped them to be, can already tell the album is going to be huge.
Fuckin hell man... These guys just keep raising the bar every time and as soon as you think the bar is capped out, they raise it thru the ceiling. Definitely going to be at the top of a ton of AOTY lists this year
this track is really good. one of ulcerates best to date. its nice having them explore these more dynamic tempos they do so well there. michaels riffs really shine through when he slows down a bit
From now on, trying to find words to match Ulcerate´s music is quite hard. And also to Sora´s art which follows it, since the human decomposition theme could have arrived to it´s limit. But not anymore. This fractal of deconstruction gives a whole new level of mise-en-abîme aesthetics!

Reminiscent of chamber music, where it is a conversation between the various instruments.
