Because they rewrote her character terribly. Her background was already established when she came looking for Daisy. Caroline on the other hand came on the scene out of nowhere. If they wouldn't made anyone transgender, then why not her? And plus her mothers are lesbians, that would've been a better fit if they wanted to introduce a LGBTQ storyline and how her mothers supported her, but to make it Maya, I hated it.
At first, I felt like I could relate to Maya, being in love with a white man as a black girl. However, that was before I found out she was transgender.

I'm not going to speak about the transgendered thing because it is a very complicated issue and I cannot begin to understand it. But I do want to challenge this expression that actually has no meaning. And I can prove that it has no meaning. Because we would not say love is love to a 40 year old who believes he is in love with a 10 year old. Romantically that is. And if it does not apply 100% of the time, the expression needs to be retired. So just something to consider.

So therefore Rick is 100% homosexual. And I hope a new storyline is written that Nicole bonds with her daughter Lizzy and grow closer to Rick to show him what he's been missing with a real woman.
