- On today's episode of The Demonic Compendium, the show where I look at your favorite demons from Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Digital Devil Saga, and more, I'm kicking off the 2024 Year of the Dragon by looking at one of the biggest holy dragons in Chinese folklore, Huang Long! Or Kohryu, as it's known in Japanese.

Glad to see you tackle the giant golden dragon (and his human descendant) to kick off the new year. I like to imagine Huang Long hides the orbs in his hair sometimes to give his claws a break. Also, for some reason, I'm imagining hearing low quality Notorious B.I.G. in the background while watching this episode.

5:03 that's not the Pepsi logo its looks more like a Red-Blue version of the Taijitu (Tao/Yin-Yang Symbol) like the one on the Flag of Tibet.
One thing i find odd with Huang Long in SMT 4 Apocalypse (and with several other demons in that game) is that he's NOT a special fusion in that game, despite being one in SMT 4.
That is a bit odd...
@@strain42Another such demon was Kurama Tengu, being a special fusion in Strange Journey and 4, but then becoming a normal demon in Apocalypse (and even an encounter in the Tennozu Shelter).

Its cool that Huang di is actually a real person and i think this is the first episode that has a episode covering a real person in full detail for a demonic compendium episode. I would love to see more episodes about the real people that appeared in megaten like Joan of Arc, Jack the Ripper and Yoshitsune and Masakado

If you had a nickel for every time you made a video talking about a yellow magical lizard and referenced Yakuza in the video, you'd have two nickels. It isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
Why not for the entirety of 2024 do dragon family demons since it’s year of the dragon just a a suggestion though
While there certainly are enough Dragon demons that I could do that, I've got a few specific people I want to talk about this year that aren't dragons, so I probably wouldn't want to stick with the idea for long.

The compendium description for Huan Long sounds like he is more of a shoe-in for the magician arcana as the famous creator god that he is.
