Of course the holidays are over now but add How My Neighbor Stole Christmas by Meghan Quinn to next year's holiday tbr. The humor was soo good so I still had to recommend. I rarely laugh out loud reading book and this one I actually did
I love these videos! I'm super picky when it comes to romance books so I don't read many, but I love thrillers, and it's always fun to hear your take on them. I still have yet to read a Freida McFadden book, but I have Never Lie and we're supposed to get a snowstorm this weekend so I think I'm going to finally read it!
Out of curiosity - I'm always on the look out for more books to read.. that said, I try to steer clear of "spice," particularly because I have a very young child who LOVES to read. When you talk about your books that you read, would you be willing to just quickly touch on if there is/isn't spice in it? I know you talked about the spice in one being repetitive, but idk if there's spice in the rest of them. I realize I can look them all up but it's not always easy to find information on it so it would be so awesome to have someone who has read the books just quickly mention it:) no pressure at all to do so! But if you're up for it, just a quick note would be amazing❤
@battybean Good to know! I don't mind it for myself, but I hate having to hide my books or close them when she asks me about a book I'm reading! I think it's good for her to know age appropriate stuff about intercourse but spice is definitely not age appropriate 😂
I put the good gorls guide to murder series on my christmas wish list and got it so ill be starting that soon. Might borrow twilight on libby bc my sister in law said i should read it since i never did in high school. Hoping its better than the movies but books usually are.😅
I wish i liked things we never got over the way others did but i LOVE forever never and always recommend that one. I also believe the carrisa Broadbent series is on ku so you don't have to wait for that next paperback
I read 209 books last year, which is crazy because I have a full-time job, but I also decided that I need more balance and less reading this year! I started a bookstagram so I don't know how successful I'll be with that journey if I'll put more pressure on myself to read just as much😂
I love the look you definitely captured it perfectly x I have just started reading again x i had bells palsy 5 yrs ago and my right eye waters when it gets strained or i get stressed so i have had to relearn a way to read x so i now tape down my bad eye and read with my left eye x And im so enjoying it again x i have tried audio books and i struggle to retain the information which is crazy x im reading the sally parker series my M A Comley x and im enjoying them as they arent 500 page novels they arent overwhelming me x i think i am goong to invest in a kindle as my ereader is ancient and so sluggish of too many books are stored on it x anyway speak soon and best wishes to you and Zane for 2025 xx
I haven't read a lot of the books you mentioned because I'm a Fantasy reader through and through. But, I did read Ashes and the Star Cutsed King and it was just not my favorite. I loved the first one so I'm still intrigued by the other books to come but with maybe a little more caution and not expecting a new favorite. Did you pick a particular book to start off the new year with? I agonized over what to start with 😅
I'm currently reading A Deal with the Bossy Devil and it's pretty good so far. Enemies to lovers billionaire romance. I got both in the series! Also I tried reading assistant to the Villain, which I mentioned before and WOW was it bad. Cringey and juvenile and just...not for me. I highly recommend since you want to read it to get it through the library or kindle unlimited, do not pay for it (glad I didn't.) It reminded me of stuff aimed at like, middle schoolers? Very YA coded, but not in a tolerable way for me. Cute hair btw, love a good red.
This look is stunning! I read 16 books this past year, my goal was 12 so I’m happy with that. One of my goals for this year is to read a bit more, I’ve set my goal for 15. Currently I am reading Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland, on a recommendation from my sister. My top book from last year that I would recommend is The Poppy War by RF Kuang. It’s very violent though so if you’re sensitive to that I would stay away.
I love your book recaps! In general I have a goal of 52 books a year, and I did pretty well with 58 total. I agree with your “here for the journey” outlook for thrillers/horror, as a lifelong Stephen King fan, I feel like I’ve been conditioned to avoid coming to my own conclusions. This year I’ve enjoyed new romance authors like Julia Quinn and Jo Beverly (the Malloren series has an amazing family of characters) as well as reading more memoirs/non-fiction than I have in the past. I’m excited to check out the Vera Wong story, thanks for the recommendation! I don’t know what I’d do without reading, it’s just essential medicine for me. That lip goes SO well with your new hair! Happy New Year Betty Jean!
@ also used your code to buy the BB blush and cheek glaze at a really nice discount (and picked up a new set of brushes while I was at it) - thanks For the heads up! 🩷🩵
I didn't read a lot last year (fortunately because I did a lot of other cool things but also because I was tired) but that's ok, I will read more in 2025 ✨❤🎇
Love the look! And the book talk is always fun!📚
thanks so much!🫶🏻

I’d started that one but just couldn’t get past the first chapter I don’t know why😅 maybe I’ll try again next holiday season!
@battybean it is a bit zany with the writing style at the beginning so I totally understand. It does get better though

i’ll try to remember! but unless i specify that something is ya it’s probably safe to assume there’s spice😂🫶🏻

We have such a different reading taste, and yet I am always looking forward to those videos.

@@battybean yes, its so cozy just to chat about books? I love it

different audiobooks are definitely hit or miss for me, it really depends on if the narrator can capture my interest!

Just read Lexicon by Max Berry with my bookclub - really interesting thriller about persuasion and the origins and power of language.
ooo!!

Have you heard of or read under the oak tree? (The novel by Suji Kim not the comic) and what were your thoughts?
Haven’t heard of that!
📚📖
Idk if u mentioned reading this book but if u liked Never Lie, I recommend None of This Is True by Lisa jewel
I wanna read that one!
@battybean it's incredible on audio
