The real reason though, that Disney wants the Fox’s priorities is for their streaming service coming out in 2019. They want to be able to stream all of the Disney movies, all of He marvel and Star Wars movies, heck all of the Pixar movies. That still not enough. If they get The Simpsons, family guy, bobs burgers, then their app suddenly becomes a lot more insisting
I'm rarely ever optimistic about something like this but that Kevin Feige got me confident in whatever they come up with. To my knowledge also even if Fox sold to someone else the right aren't transferable anyway so Marvel no matter what would still get FF and the X-Men universe.
They won't keep the Xmen separate, that'd just be a waste. I do hope they reboot. They need their own team, their own actors, and their own story. They need to establish new everything as to make it fit in their universe and to sell it to the audience.
l think its a brilliant idea if they put the xmen in their universe. if marvel studio do get them back they should just reboot the xfilm within the deadpool universe and leave it as a standalone seperate universe, that would allow them to flesh their version of x-verse and explore xmen stories better(via movies and tv series)& we could have like 2/3 xmen related movie each year alongside mcu. l find this more interesting becaus this will allow marvel studio to explore the multiverse by(sometime in the futur)having a big crossover between these two universes(kang should be the villain in that story). you should be open mind about the possibility
richarson mirien They will definitely not keep the X-Men in a separate universe. They want all their franchises to be connected in the same universe where all the characters can interact, not separated.
+El John Uh, what? The X-Men have been a profitable franchise for nearly 20 years. And Spider-Man: Homecoming had a far less audience than the Raimi films and slightly more than the first Amazing film(according to inflation). Why would an older and less popular brand like X-Men do better than Spider-Man?
for the A list team the avengers still get outsold by xmen comics if xmen gets the push avengers get it will prove itself the superior brand by far.....
In ant-man and the wasp, they have already mentioned that they will be introducing the multiverse. I think this would be a good way to start the x-men.
Wallace West but how would they make any sense of that, how are they going to explain where the X-Men have and the fantastic four have been during all these events especially why there weren't apart of Civil War.
If they do get the X- men and Fantastic Four back then I’ll be happy. X-men is going to be tough to deal with since it’s an on going franchise. Deadpool is easy, he can simply acknowledge that he was bought back and make a joke out of it.
Or they could pseudo reboot the Simpsons, bring in a whole new writing team, focus more on grounded storylines and maybe even recast the roles, the Simpsons formula is still real strong and theres no reason it couldn't be made great again if the creators pulled out all the stops and gave a shit again
The only thing that scares me about Disney buying Fox is what will happen to Gotham? Maybe they could sell to WB and CBS so it could possibly move to the CW. Or just keep the show on the air on Fox. I think it just works best on Fox.
Well the problem is, it's not clear what the Fox channel is actually going to be in the future now that Disney has the rights to most of what airs there.
The sooner Gotham dies, the sooner Sean Pertwee can play Doctor Who when the SJWs kill the current show and it gets rebooted after Disney gets the rights to it.
They could just treat Deadpool movies like they have treated the Netflix / ABC shows in that they will acknowledge and be influenced by the events in the main MCU, but the larger MCU won't be influenced by the events of Deadpool.
I do hope they just kill everything past Deadpool 2. That they don't put them in the MCU - that instead they reboot them and make an "XCU" where they develop the different teams of mutants who can then crossover with each other
+Wallace West Why? That’s like rebooting Star Wars. Logan was legendary and made X-23 a pop culture icon. You seriously believe Disney wouldn’t want to cash-in on that?
Wait, how do you do a dark Phoenix movie and have Jean Grey in the background? (@ 22:45 )isn't that like saying do a Spider-man movie and putting Peter Parker in the background?
That wasn't what I meant. I was saying if Dark Phoenix comes out, then when Disney inevitably does their own version of these characters it'll be best to put Jean in the background because I fully expect Dark Phoenix to be a mess that will make audiences sour on her as a character.
I agree with that. I thought Sansa Stark as Jean Grey was a low point of a not very good movie, and I think her being the central character of her own movie will be even worse.
What they could do is in Dark Pheonix or Infinity War make a hole in spacetime which causing them to connect to the Xmen universe, and it pulling in the earth from that universe into the MCU, Which then they can keep the Xmen and the MCU. Which would been that scarlet witch would have her brother back, and quick silver would have an older sister, and just link it up that way.
I know the big news is, 'hurray, Wolverine can hang out with the Avengers' but do you think that the two DC properties currently on FOX (Lucifer and Gotham) have any future, at all?
Well, they only air on the Fox network, Fox isn't involved in the production of those so theoretically they could end up on other channels. As a lover of Gotham I really don't want this to kill it.
I think we might get a few very limited appearances from Wade in the MCU. Something along the lines of 'His movies are Rated R, but his limited appearances outside of them are a little more tame.' So something like the X-men flooding out of the school to fight an attacking villain, Cyclops yelling to a random guy 'Hey, get back here!' the guy turns around, it's Deadpool, he flips off Scott, he keeps going.
My guess would be they keep DP as is and they will reboot the X-Men. They might make it as if mutants are a new thing in the mcg. The only problem would be Magneto's origin but that could be adapted to something newer instead of the second world war
I know this if the mcu xmen have a bunch avengers constantly in and out I will not be watching those movies.....if I pay to see xmen or new mutants/x force etc that's what I want to see.......I agree about fx I would hate for any acquisition by Disney to affect it negatively.
While I'm unsure how they'll integrate the X-Men, I am mostly excited about this. I've enjoyed the X-Men movies overall. Some were great, some were good, some were tire fires. And yeah the X-Men movies have been coming out for a long time. There is some good history to that. But I don't mind switching it up and starting mostly fresh. Mostly since they can do that. Maybe your idea will be something they use or they find some other way to safely introduce mutants. If they can figure that out, I'm all for it. There is so much good they can do with this. If they choose to focus on Cyclops and other characters that were less important during the Fox version that's good. Wolverine basically dominated that whole franchise. For good reason, he was freaking awesome. But Cyclops never had a really incarnation in any of those movies. Some were ok, but he was really a secondary figure overall. You could actually make him a leader and that could help fill the void that will be made when Captain America and Iron man transition out. He doesn't have to do it alone since we've got Doctor Strange and others stepping forward, but that's an option. The villain side of it is exciting. I mean we could get a really good Doctor Doom. We could get 'not a cloud' Galactus be a major MCU threat that would require the X-Men, Guardians, Avengers, etc. The MCU's space side is being fleshed out, but there is room to add all sorts of villains and threats from those other franchises. I get why some people wouldn't like it, but the more I think about the potential the more exciting it is. Deadpool is an interesting thing. They might just keep him in his own place and that could work. Though with the multiverse possibility from Doctor Strange, I think you could fit him in and just make it work. Hard to say how they'd feel about a very much R-rated character mixing in with the rest, but it could happen.
This is such a bummer- the only comic book movie I was looking foward to was Drew Goddard's X-Force. That guy keeps getting screwed over. For a guy with so much talent (he even made Ridley Scott look good with The Martian), he has so much bad luck.
I'd actually say he keeps making bad calls. I mean, I feel bad for the guy that his projects keep falling apart. But who leaves Daredevil to make Sinister freaking Six? Really.
Council of Geeks- Did anyone think a Daredevil/Netflix show was a good idea? He's a major reason why it worked. I would have liked to have seen what he would have done with Sinister Six- he works best when challenged (probably why he turned down the last Spider-man movie) and it wouldn't have been bland. But it looks like "Bland" is gonna be the only flavor they gonna be serving now
El John- Apparently Feige and Sony offered him the Spider-man gig, which he turned down but he does have a good relationship with Marvel, so I hope so. I'd just would have rather seen him work without the MCU/ Disney restrictions
Council of Geeks That's a really good point, I guess Drew Goddard has to do the Leonardo DiCaprio route and be selective over the projects you're choosing; I'm still up for him to make a live-action Gargoyles movie
In all honesty you could use the Infinity Stones in order to bring the X-Men Universe into the MCU. It may sound crazy but take a page from the story mode of Marvel vs. Capcom infinite. What they did to combine the Capcom Universe in the Marvel Universe the reality Stone. With the reality Stone in Infinity War you could have a Time or reality vortex could Clash combine the two different realities into one new reality. Personally I think it would work very well and it's a good scapegoat method that would make sense within the realm of with the comics 😌 .
The introduction will happen after the last Infinity movie. It's the perfect opportunity to introduce mutants as something that was always there in a new version of the universe. The infinity gauntlet will be used to restore the universe but it will be a subtly different version of the former universe.
They should have Scarlet witch admit she is a mutant and that the Lokis spear brought out her powers not created them.

One solution for the Wolverine issue could be that they let Dafne Keen keep portraying Laura. The characters was just introduced in Logan so maybe they can work a way around to introduce her version of the MCU.
Deadpool 3 will be deadpool walking around trying to figure out how him and the X-men ended up in the MCU as captain america follows him around saying "NO SWEARING"
The thing to remember about the X-Men is that when they first came out, they WERE new. Yes, there were VERY rare exceptions, Apocalypse, Wolverine, Xavier and Magneto a few decades before issue #1, but mutants were an unknown quantity until the X-Men showed up, like Big Foot. In the X-Men mythos, mutants _exploded_ in the UXM #1 era, and were basically unknown prior to that. So the same thing could apply to the movies, with a few older mutants, but most of the mutants showing up being relatively young, or having a reason to have just not been public. That said, I think it's probably best to keep two universes, an "X-Men universe" in which mutants are the only super-powered beings, and the MCU, in which a few popular mutants show up to be on the Avengers, but "the mutant problem" would not really be addressed, because really it wouldn't make a lot of sense in the world of the MCU. They can handle two universes. The FF should be in the MCU though.
Marvel has already been incorporating multiverse and time travel elements. With the reality bending capabilities of a fully assembled infinity gauntlet the entire earth could be rewritten to incorporate mutants, fantastic four, whatever they wanted. Spiderman could wake up at the end of Avengers 4 and realize that the world was saved yet a bit different. The only difficulty would be saying goodbye to the mcu in its current form, but really its the characters that are compelling, not the place in which they live.
That feels like nothing if not a big middle finger to the existing fans and a point at which much of the less hard core would just go "ok, I'm out." You create a cut off point and some people will just bow out.
I'd leave it a couple of years so as to get the casting *just right* and then launch X-Men as a Netflix show. That would allow Wolverine to be colder and more violent than the movies allow, and would give all those rich characters a lot more breathing space than a two-hour movie can offer. It could be much more of an ensemble piece than the Fox movies were - give everyone their time to shine. I'd want to take some time to work out the best thing to do with the Fantastic Four. The one thing I'd establish immediately though would be Dr Doom. Get that man in the MCU stat! I love the idea of him turning Sokovia into Latveria, and there are so many existing MCU characters I'd like to see him cross paths with.
Oh, I am ready to bet that Feige has plans laying around for all those characters, just in case. That's why Homecoming happened that fast. But there are a number of things to consider...for example, I am not sure how much of the Fantastic 4 rights are still with Constantin Film. Plus, even if the deal goes through, it will take some time to transfer everything and reorganise the structure so that it fits into Disney. I hope that they just put the X-men into their own parallel universe which look distinctively different from the MCU.
Well even if Disney's purchase of Fox only accounts for part of the FF rights, it forces Constantin to deal with them if only for lack of other options. Whether that means they just sell the remaining rights to Disney or they develop the film under Disney's supervision it still means FF in the MCU or not at all.
Oh, I don't think that Constantin will be a problem even if Disney hasn't already dealt with those rights quietly under the table. They will most likely just allow Disney to do whatever they want for a cut. The Studio has stopped trying to do international movies a long time ago and are currently focussing (very successful I might add) on movies geared specifically to the German audience. They stand to make a better revenue with Fack ju Goehte 4 than trying to do a Fantastic 4 movie. My point is more that I doubt that the rights question is cleared up THAT fast even if they announce this deal before Christmas. Stuff like this takes time. And I can see the MCU getting parallel universes, because it makes freaking sense. Introduce the audience to the concept now and you have a much, much easier time to do another version of the Avengers in 20 to 30 years.
I REALLY don't want them to start dipping to parallel or alternate universes. It's not a story tract I'm overly fond of, I don't think it's necessary in this case and it's always been more an ancillary feature of Marvel anyways. DC was always more multiverse focused.
Sure, but I don't think the notion of Mutants being hated is a fit in a world in which the Avengers and the Fantastic Four are generally revered. That notion NEVER worked for me. They kind of got away with it in the comics, but the MCU is tighter knit. Plus, consider this: What if the Kree never came to earth and never messed around with Human DNA? And because they didn't do it, humans developed special powers on their own in a natural manner. And since the first powered being already popped up in WWI, nobody ever bothered to mess around with the Supersolider serum (what for, if there are already powered people around?). So no Captain America, or Hulk, or any of the other related heroes. You could create a very different world just because this one event didn't happen.
Not to mention all the distrobution rights to Star Wars. Fox still holds the rights to at least episode IVand that keeps Disney from releasing their own boxset, or an unalterated original version for each film.
Okay, so idea for their place in the MCU: ramification of a change in the universe made with the infinity gauntlet. Yes, this might fall into the "they're just appearing" method, but what if something were to happen via the infinity gauntlet that made it so that the mutants were always there? As for casting choices, Ralph Fiennes as Prof. X, just one idea.
I've talked about the state of the DCEU a number of times, but I didn't really throw out my own ideas on how they should approach things as far as story concepts go. That's not really my bag because I then get too attached to my own ideas and get disappointed when something else is done.
Regarding Deadpool why let him be R-Rated in his own movies And when he shows up in a pg-13 marcel movie they can just beep him. Something like when he shows up in a PG13 marvel movie the watcher aka Stan Lee shows up and tells him he can't cuss here in this movie 4th wall wallbreak style. Could be fun
The rumor, at this point, according to the New York Times as of an hour ago, is that James Murdoch may leave FOX and come to Disney as part of the deal.
James could a be a Eisner in that maybe he’s not good with the public as he’s not a people person like Iger, but maybe with some “Disney magic” AKA money, he could be pretty cool
my Xmen fan casting wolverine- Jon Bernthal magneto- Andrew Lincoln sabretooth- Norman Reedus rogue- Lauren Cohan angel - Steven Yeun storm- Danai Gurira juggernaut David Morrisey beast Chad L Coleman gambit- Channing Tatum bishop- Idris Elba cable- Josh Brolin apocalypse- Dwayne Johnson psylocke- Stef Chang cyclops- Dave Franco jean Emma Stone nightcrawler- Rami Malek ice man- Donald Glover omega red- Charlie Hunnam sinister- Josh Hartnett jubilee- Nicole Bloom mystique- Saoirse Ronan kitty pride- Hailee Steinfeld deadpool- Ryan Reynolds professorX- Ewan Mcgregor
I think the best shot is using the mutiverde story line. Then we can keep x men an mcu separate universes but find ways for not to interact with each other
I think you are spot on! Although I see the argument for Fox having had the X-Men rights, I think they more or less have had their run. I'd like to see a Deadpool Trilogy, but I think its time for the rest of the X-Men to come to the MCU along with the F4.
What I'd kinda like to see, and granted I'm not sure if they'd feel they could pull this off with the general public, is to make it clear that Deadpool exists in its own universe where things from MCU will show up but have no influence over continuity. I'd basically be a one-way door continuity-wise but it would be challenging to market, especially if they were going to do for example a Spiderman/Deadpool crossover of some kind (perhaps somewhat in line with Thor: Ragnarok). Another idea which was floated around with Deadpool was first announced (and the R-rating was uncertain) could be that Deadpool literally gets censored whenever he appears in any PG-13 MCU films, or at least in the very first one-beyond that they could just have him come up with creative ways of working around that (ALA Wolverine in the X-Men Animated Series, only more self-ware. :p).
As far as the X-men go you can always reference the terrigen mist. It basically killed off a lot of mutants which give a tie in with inhumans and X-men and mutants in general.
X-Men could be introduced into the MCU with the idea that the Soviet Union experimented on people in the ‘50s and created mutants, who have since been hiding in Eastern Europe, something the groundwork is already laid out for. They could even be hiding from Hydra, and it would explain the whole “mutants are shunned” vibe, as the Avengers seem to be hated by the population of Eastern Europe in the current MCU. So I’d say that seems like the best way to introduce them.
Here's a pitch idea for how the X-men get integrated. Charles Xavier worked at S.H.I.E.L.D. back in the day with Howard Stark, Hank Pym and Bill Foster. Back when mutants actually WERE becoming a more publicly known thing, he joined up with them so S.H.I.E.L.D. could help him protect the young mutants. He DOES want for humans and mutants to coexist, but he knew that society just wasn't ready yet. So with Stark, Pym and Foster's help, Cerebro was built. A way for Charles to track down mutants so they could be relocated to the School for Gifted Youngsters, a former S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse granted by Stark. (Perhaps during Captain Marvel we could see some signs of a few more rebellious mutants trying to live Charles' dream.) After Infinity War and A4, Xavier deems that the world not only needs the X-men in the absence of half of the Avengers pre-A4, but is ready to accept mutants after all that has happened.
Great detailed explanation. Concerning the transition, baby Franklin Richards, Scarlet Witch and Legion could 'easily' make their three worlds collide... Maybe add Jean Grey and an infinity gauntlet for good measure. I'd love a Time Runs Out crossover but lol.
No. No no no no dear god please no. One I think I DON’T want is multiverse, alternate universe, converging timelines stuff. I know there are things in the MCI that could explain using them. Just... no.
Council of Geeks It would be a convoluted mess, sure, but it's hard to pretend mutants were always there and no one noticed. The only other possibility is making them new, but as you said, it wouldn't be the X-Men without their history of being ostracized. Honestly, I trust they'll find a good way to get it right. I just hope we still get the same amount of marvel movies per year, somehow.
and as far as timeing we set its in Phase1 between Incredible Hulk and Avengers have hulk go to canada and Nick Fury call Dept H they send in Wolverine to track him down like the Animated Movie
That's a good question. I don't think so. Firefly was already moved elsewhere by the time Serenity happened (which is why it wasn't released by Fox) and last I heard WB bought the rights to remake Buffy (which would presumably include rights to Angel) though the project stalled. That was in 2010 so they could have moved since then, but I don't think they're still with Fox.
Council of Geeks they bought the rights to the 1992 kirsty Swanson movie I thought. that isn't in the continuity of the t.v series. I kind of hope they do get the Joss shows. we could get more firefly and Buffyverse things.
Making mutants new especially doesn't allow Magneto's backstory of being a holocaust survivor, which is key to his entire motivation. Honestly, they don't need to do anything to "explain" mutants' absence from the franchise. There has only been one movie which has been broad enough to even beg the question - Infinity War. Individual character movies are just that - individual. Avengers and Age of Ultron are team movies, but are both explicitly tied to the Avengers team. Avengers was focused on bringing the team together, and - aside from the brief invasion by the aliens, which was too brief to attract any attention from those not in New York - didn't have anything to do with the public at large. Age of Ultron again was all internal to the Avengers. The X-Men wouldn't know that Stark invented an evil robot until he attacked the one city, which was on the opposite side of the world. Only Infinity War even remotely begs the question "where were you". Answering that question is actually super easy if you do it right. First, give them an isolated movie or two as you build both X-Men and the next generation of Avengers up. It should be a stark contrast between the two, with the Avengers movies showing them as beloved heroes, while the X-Men movies show just how feared and mistrusted they are. When they finally do meet up, it's the culmination of those two very divergent attitudes, with a story inspired by AvX, which pits the two teams against each other (at least temporarily).
What if they use The New Mutants (which was pushed back to 2019) to sort of reshoot it and edit out any kind of reference to the mainline X-Men universe and essentially soft reboot the franchise without having to recast the cast of The New Mutants? And they establish that Mutants have been around for a long time and been in hiding, but are just now being revealed, hence the title The New Mutants.
I want them to keep James McAvoy as professor X and Michael Fassbender as Magneto.i may fine with them recast the others. Hell yeah the x men should go back to marvel! ( despite all the worries people are having about this) . I mean think about it; They would have been there all along if it wasn't for some unfortunate times marvel was going through. It's about time, they start getting back the rights to all their properties. And if Feige is as smart as he showed us to be, he'll know exactly what to do, and when to do it.
Nihad O.o if disney recasts those guys. I am telling you fans are.not gonna like the movies even if they are good. Michael, james, sophie, jennifer all of them are the new cast. They should stick with them
With this they can finally explain the "inhumans" as what they are like scarlet and quicksilver. I really hope disney doesn't screw this up because x-men has SO much potential with this and it could be a masssive amount of money in disney's pocket.
I heard that Dark Phoenix will be the end of the current X-men universe then they will release a reboot, New Mutants will be an mcu film and Deadpool will remain Deadpool
While I kind of like the idea of starting with an origin story for a character who hasn't gotten proper spotlight in the movies up to this point, I'm not loving the idea of introducing her as a love interest as a main function.
Fox has ups and downs, but they have a level of creative risk that Disney/Marvel doesn't. Deadpool, Logan, those wouldn't have happened. I hope they keep Fox as a separate studio. Not everything needs to tie together.
It will probably be like the Spider-Man situation. They will probably reboot the main X-Men films after Dark Phoenix but the planned spin-offs will go on separated from the MCU. Just like with Sony’s Spider-verse.
Except the only reason that's being done is that Sony has the rights to the characters. With all of X-Men now being under Disney there isn't a business based reason do actually do that.
There is a business based reason: Deadpool and Logan made money, are wildly popular, and just made two characters beloved icons(Deadpool and X-23). Cable and Domino could next with Deadpool 2. Disney is about making money and would likely exploit the recent popularity of those new characters. So I see the X-Force and X-23 still happening under Disney.
This will also be huge for Disneys new streaming service coming out if they not only have Disney, Marvel and Star Wars but Fox properties up there as well
just like previous deals by disney ..even after acquiration they just have calm dwn nt fire those fox employees especially lauren, kinberg, parker keep them on board..let operate those x men, avatar n so movies alone n release them as planned fr next 6-8 yrs...!!! none of lucas company employees got fired so is pixar so is marvel after acquiration by disney dont frget tht...tht 20 movies gonna be x men n fant 4 lol....apart frm nt firing of employees ...disney even after acquiring strted making sequels fr the movies where pixar left...same goes to marvel...recently star wars the continued saga after episode 6..none of star wars, marvel, pixar had reboot.....!!! so dont frget tht ...!!! did u frget..or do u knw it is lauren donner who owns x men rights ....she has the final say in terms of x men ...at tht time fox inorder to have a control on x men they gave a fair share of fox stake but still x men is owned by donner...avatar owned by james cameron.....just like fant 4 which is still owned by constantin films....fox studios just collaborates by co financing n distributes the movies...but theese rights does nt belong to fox...!!!
Realistically, a third Kingsman was doubtful anyways. Critical and fan reception on the second one was notably down and they spent more on it but made less money than the first.
I really don’t know how to feel about this because while yes I would be happy to see fantastic four back with marvel because they needed to go back within marvel ASAP as for x-men that’s tricky
If they use the mutants as one or Fury's secrets, make their introduction to the general population be through the SHIELD docs that Black Widow publicized in CA:TWS.
Not gonna lie, but happy to hear that Marvel’s probably getting their properties back . But for now wouldn’t get too excited for it in case the deal doesn’t fall through. We’ll see if it happens or not. In any case I’m okay with both scenarios either Disney or any other company sealing the deal. At the end of the day , Fox is definitely selling it to someone.
FOX is definitely selling but they can't sell the X-men and FF to anyone else. So either they sell to Disney or they sit on those until the current clocks run out and they revert to Marvel.
I think what they should do with Deadpool is they should include him in the MCU just keep his standalone movies rated R but tone him down for his team-up movie appearances. He can still have crude humor, just have it be more indirect. Also it sucks about Gambit, he's my favorite X-Men.
I meant like if they decided to do a sort of soft reboot for Deadpool & the X-Men to introduce them into the MCU. I just really wanna see a Deadpool & Spidey team up dude.
Marvel has stated clearly that the R rated Venom with NOT be allowed to explicitly cross over into the MCU. It's why he's not being introduced in a Spider-Man film.
I was thinking the same thing about Dark Phoenix. This is Simon Kinberg's first time directing (however, there were rumors that he ghost-directed for Trank) and he has proven to not understand the property and participated considerably in the failures of X3, Apocalypse, and Fant4stic. With all the rumors of how this will be a "grounded" approach and how it has a smaller budget, I can see this movie bombing at the BO. Feige has said in interviews that they (MS) have contingency plans and scripts written in case they get the rights back to any characters at any point in time. It is very likely that they have ambitious plans for X-Men that might be impacted by the release of Dark Phoenix. In the long term, preventing the release of a bad X-Men movie and losing about $100-200M is not as bad as damaging the brand and losing audience interest for future movies.
Did you read the Horsemen of The Apocalypse storyline Apocalypse was based on? Because it was pretty much the same story with slight changes. And did you not read the original Dark Phoenix? Because it is grounded. I don’t know why you blaming X3 and F4 on him considering the production history of those films.
Antonius Robertus Screenplay on those movies were a big reason for those movies failures. I wouldn't call a cosmic entity possessing a mutant grounded.
+Wallace West Except Disney already has Kinberg working on a Star Wars film. So why they do that? And there was no cosmic entity in the original, that was a retcon created six years after Dark Phoenix.
This deal has more to do with Online Streaming ... Fox owns Hulu and we all know that Disney has been wanting to pull their content from Netflix and have them exclusive. Because Hulu already has streaming rights to multiple film and network franchises, Disney now gets to profit exclusively from this... The Marvel and Star Wars distribution is just icing with sprinkles on the cake... Along with all of the other Movie rights that Disney will now own..
What if they build a new X-Men/Fantastic Four Universe from the ground up alongside the post Infinity War MCU with a clear intention of bringing them together. Give them each a few more years to grow and, in the next climactic film of Secret Wars, bring everything together somehow. Maybe this concept is too out there for the general public to get behind, but it would also allow them to work on other, more out there projects to test the waters. They could set some more obscure stories in a stand alone universe so that it doesn't have to conform to the current MCU or XCU. The intention of that would be to eventually bring everything together in battleworld style and let everything that "worked" stay in a merged universe going forward. Whatever the case I just hope they do it in a creatively believable way and don't just shove them in.
If or should I say when they integrate the X-Men into the MCU I would like them to start with the original 5 from the comics (Scott Summers/Cyclops, Jean Grey/Marvel Girl, Bobby Drake/Iceman, Warren Worthington III/Angel and Hank McCoy/Beast) because in the Fox movies some of these characters like Bobby and Warren were just used as plot devices which annoyed me as they're amazing in the comics. Also I just want the F4 to be done well
@Council of Geeks, like your channel but I have to point out something that you as well as others have been missing and that was canon in the X-Men comics for a long time, that Charles Xavier wiped peoples minds if they saw any use of the mutants powers until the stories got to big for him to do it. This power could explain some of the lack of appearances of any mutants showing up in the Marvel Universe for some of the time since it started.
I'd accept that one... though if they went that way they'd probably have to open with him being assassinated and his death releasing the world from his mental manipulations.
Council of Geeks or just a massive event that can’t be wiped or Xavier/Magneto decide its time to stop hiding neither of them would want to stay in the shadows forever
If you honestly think Disney's "main goal was undoubtedly the X-men and Fantastic Four franchises" then you haven't been paying much attention. The main goal was acquiring a massive amount of new content for the streaming service they want to launch in 2019. Getting those rights back for Marvel is great but it was far from the primary focus. I would even wager that getting the distribution rights for the original Star Wars trilogy was just as important. Something else you didn't mention is the fact that the deal would result in Disney having controlling interest in Hulu. I think that is likely the most interesting news that comes out of this deal because that could well mean that there is no new Disney streaming service in 2019. Why launch a new one when they take control of Hulu and and just leverage that and its existing user base? It is also highly unlikely that Marvel will do anything with FF or X-men until at least 2020. There's just really nothing in 2019 they can move at this point and whatever they are going to do pretty much has to be after Avengers 4. The Spider-man Homecoming sequel is supposed to lead off phase 4 and I don't see that changing because of the existing deal with Sony.
Daniel Santos Holy crap, it never even occurred to me that they’d get Simpsons....
And family guy
phhsdj you might want to read the comment again...
That's what I was thinking!
And control all of marvel that was the deal sealer there.
Stan Lee said the X-Men were coming back to Marvel
Well, Logan was a fitting end to the Fox-Men then?
OMG yes he did 😨😨
I'm rarely ever optimistic about something like this but that Kevin Feige got me confident in whatever they come up with.
They want all their franchises to be connected in the same universe where all the characters can interact, not separated.
that would be a waste of potential if they put them in the same universe because a seperate xmen universe have so much potential
What should they do with Deadpool? Deadpool and Rocket Raccoon movie. It'd be awesome!
In ant-man and the wasp, they have already mentioned that they will be introducing the multiverse. I think this would be a good way to start the x-men.
Jordan Nah, they would have the X-Men exist in the same universe, not a separate one.
Daniel Santos They can reboot it first class style
And set up in infinity war the same way they set up shield in iron man
Thats extremely false and I don't know why everyone believes this.
Fam, it happened.
FX was actually included
Yeah, I had that pointed out. Which is a relief.
Council of Geeks good thing too. Now Disney can bring back Futurama and cancel the Simpsons
Flying Tiger You're an idiot if you think Gotham is dying anytime soon. Especially with another Jerome story line coming up.
Flying Tiger And Disney doesn't have the rights to the Fox network.
They could just treat Deadpool movies like they have treated the Netflix / ABC shows in that they will acknowledge and be influenced by the events in the main MCU, but the larger MCU won't be influenced by the events of Deadpool.
That's kind of disappointing.
Also, unless they are that stubborn about it, they can turn him down a notch when he isn't the main focus of the movie.
Fox still owned distribution rights to 'A New Hope', are they in this deal? Can we now safeky assume we'll get full Star Wars sets?
I do hope they just kill everything past Deadpool 2. That they don't put them in the MCU - that instead they reboot them and make an "XCU" where they develop the different teams of mutants who can then crossover with each other
They are not going to drop that X-23 movie.
Antonius Robertus they are, and Gambit and Multiple Man.
You know Feige and MS won't do that. They want everything to be all connected in the same universe.
+Wallace West Why? That’s like rebooting Star Wars. Logan was legendary and made X-23 a pop culture icon. You seriously believe Disney wouldn’t want to cash-in on that?
Antonius Robertus Logan died in the movie. Marvel Studios wants to build on their own vision of the X-Men, not one established by another studio.
I'm never getting the Gambit movie, am i ? T_T
Don Draper yeah, a lot of people did... it’s not a very “out there” concept...
Council of Geeks That's a really good point, I guess Drew Goddard has to do the Leonardo DiCaprio route and be selective over the projects you're choosing; I'm still up for him to make a live-action Gargoyles movie
maybe Dr. Strange can either bring the FF and X-Men in to fight Thanos... or either he or Thanos can end up merging the 2 universes together
Great job explaining this deal man! Because I was confused about all of this. 👌🏼
What the about the Doctor Doom spin-off film?
Disney will also get the FX network, The National Geographic network, a 30% stake in Hulu, and a 39% stake of the Sky network in the UK.
why wouldnt they do the origins of the mutant from the ultimates storylines
Could you explain the film right to the fantastic four because I don’t Think fox studios Own the movie right
I'd leave it a couple of years so as to get the casting *just right* and then launch X-Men as a Netflix show.
Remember disney did put deadpool in a spiderman cartoon
You can just have other marvel characters appear in deadpool movies and not vice versa. Think about it.
Council of Geeks just be done with the current marvel characters after the next two movies and start the next wave of mcu as X-men movies
Did u do a video like this for DCEU? What they should do, etc?
I've talked about the state of the DCEU a number of times, but I didn't really throw out my own ideas on how they should approach things as far as story concepts go. That's not really my bag because I then get too attached to my own ideas and get disappointed when something else is done.
Council of Geeks Gotcha. I enjoy your channel. One of my favorite comic book, etc. sources of content
FX is part of the agreement, dude.
Whoever takes over for Bob Iger in 2019 is gonna need an acetaminophen drip
The rumor, at this point, according to the New York Times as of an hour ago, is that James Murdoch may leave FOX and come to Disney as part of the deal.
Shawn Smith- Wow! As I was reading your comment, I was just hearing it on the buisness news
James could a be a Eisner in that maybe he’s not good with the public as he’s not a people person like Iger, but maybe with some “Disney magic” AKA money, he could be pretty cool
Apparently, Iger could stay on past 2019 to handle the ramifications of this massive deal. Wouldn't surprise me one bit
+Nomnso Okeke There have been reports now to that effect.
Do you think this will cause Sony to think harder about selling Spider-Man characters back to Disney? (Venom movie failing aside)
Until Sony has one or two other reliable franchises under its belt, it's going to cling to Spider-man like a life raft.
My guess is FOX Broadcasting and its related networks not sold to to Disney/ABC might get sold piece by piece to either TimeWarner or Viacom.

(Perhaps during Captain Marvel we could see some signs of a few more rebellious mutants trying to live Charles' dream.)
After Infinity War and A4, Xavier deems that the world not only needs the X-men in the absence of half of the Avengers pre-A4, but is ready to accept mutants after all that has happened.
Introduce the Xmen as the origina team and introduce Wolverine in wolverine vs hulk movie
Maybe that's how we will finally get a hulk movie again.
and as far as timeing we set its in Phase1 between Incredible Hulk and Avengers have hulk go to canada and Nick Fury call Dept H they send in Wolverine to track him down like the Animated Movie
So does Disney get the rights to Buffy, Angel and Firefly?
I'm hoping to get a Howling commandos movie out of this with Cap and Wolverine teaming up.
Deadpool and wolverine will be all kid friendly if this happens and that will be stupid
I never liked the idea of the X-Men hiding mutants. That goes against their core belief of co-existence and being who you are.
Alien/Avatar/Xmen etc etc....That’s a lot of theme park rides n merchandise.Does this mean a constant stream of rebooted franchises?
Why dont they release deadpool into the netflix side pf things or introduce him but turn it down and have him lie low?
Well mainly because the deal's still not done yet.
I heard that Dark Phoenix will be the end of the current X-men universe then they will release a reboot, New Mutants will be an mcu film and Deadpool will remain Deadpool
Why couldnt they start with a storm origins movie and introduce her as the wife of the black panthee
If there is a Deadpool III movie, it will be a Netflix exclusive. Thus keeping the character seperate from MCU.
What will happen to kingsman and deadpool?!?
kubla 98 kingsman will be the same
Realistically, a third Kingsman was doubtful anyways. Critical and fan reception on the second one was notably down and they spent more on it but made less money than the first.
You don't put Wadey in the corner!
I really don’t know how to feel about this because while yes I would be happy to see fantastic four back with marvel because they needed to go back within marvel ASAP as for x-men that’s tricky
They cant lose the Fox Logo at the beginning of films because if I don't hear that fanfare, I aint goin.
Praise Emperor Mouse The Binder of Worlds...Fun isn't something one considers when the cinematic universe, but this dose put a smile on my face...haha
Disney needs to buy all of Fox assets. I want X-Men, Deadpool and the fantastic four in the Disney MCU
If think the best way is to create Marvel Max and maintain Marvel Studios. And heroes moves from one from another, just like in comics.
I think that even though this is good on them for getting their properties back but bad from the perspective of competition
Still worried about Deadpool. I hope Disney would keep Deadpool a separate universe. Probably not under Marvel Studios.
I hope that we get two deadpools, one for the MCU and one for standalone movies and shows
Kinberg is already work with Disney on a Star Wars.
If they use the mutants as one or Fury's secrets, make their introduction to the general population be through the SHIELD docs that Black Widow publicized in CA:TWS.
so Disney has: Pixar, Lucasfilms(the star wars company), marvel, and now Fox. whats next? Nickelodeon? DC? WINDOWS?!
This could Mean The X-Men and Fantastic Four could Return to the MCU that means All of the Characters could Unite Again
This idea of the X-Men being in the MCU secretly is crazy! A hidden X-Men in the MCU would make X-Men movies Fox produced seem worthless.
I just hope someday, Nickleodeon buys the final three seasons of Doug from Disney.
Except in Deadpool mutants are shown to be known to the public. So it wouldn’t fit in the MCU.
Gambit could easily move over to Netflix
I meant like if they decided to do a sort of soft reboot for Deadpool & the X-Men to introduce them into the MCU. I just really wanna see a Deadpool & Spidey team up dude.
i think they will keep deadpool movie as he is since vemon movie are R movie as well, and possible in MCU, so the movie ok
Dark Phoenix could go straight to DVD
Antonius Robertus Screenplay on those movies were a big reason for those movies failures. I wouldn't call a cosmic entity possessing a mutant grounded.
+Wallace West Except Disney already has Kinberg working on a Star Wars film. So why they do that? And there was no cosmic entity in the original, that was a retcon created six years after Dark Phoenix.
Antonius Robertus Go back and read Chris Claremont's X-Men. Kinberg's ideas will add nothing beneficial to Feige and his vision for the MCU.
What do you mean if captain marvel does well they'll do miss marvel
The current Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) has Captain Marvel as her inspiration and hero. And would make for a natural spin-off/follow up.
Also I just want the F4 to be done well
X-Men Dark Phoenix and captain marvel both take place in the 90's and both will have skrulls so it will be easy to put the x-men in the mcu.
Patrick Stewart already said goodbye to the role after Logan. James McAvoy is now Xavier. I hope he stays that way.
Seriously: Does Wolverine even know the _lyrics_ of 'Kumbaya'?
