BEASTIE BOYS!! 🤩♥️ a great one of theirs is a live performance on David Letterman, "Ch-Check it Out" they are on the street into the studio and it's so excellent!✌
BBs "3 MCs and 1 DJ” is an amazing piece of art. It was recorded in one take (with several cams, of course) and they were performing the song live in the basement-studio ... awesome video and track! ..... Thanks for reaction to the BBs - I'ld love to see more! :-)
Beastie Boys made this song in 1986... it was a huge hit from the 'License to ill' record. I think they put in characters in the music video based on the 'Revenge of the nerds' movies... Years later, the Beastie Boys admitted that they were not happy being portrayed as jocks and bullies... the girls in the video were their friends on the set who let them grab and kiss them... When they toured for the record, they said they were disheartened when they saw jocks and football players (who used to pick on them in school) shoving kids in the crowd to get up front and screaming the lyrics back at them. The Beastie Boys were inadvertently turning into those characters they were making fun of, partying and drinking to excess... So they decided that they would not make a record like "License to ill" again, thus splitting from their label Def Jam and their producer Rick Rubin. Beastie Boys took a couple of years to make their 1989 album "Paul's boutique", and it was quirky and goofy - they were much more comfortable w/ that creative direction and on their own label, even tho it sold considerably less than "License to ill", but it gave them a solid musical foundation.
Very surprised no one has ever mentioned reacting to Beastie Boys - An Open Letter To NYC and/or Beastie Boys - Make Some Noise - good few celeb cameos
Check out these Beasties Boys songs: HEY LADIES (very entertaining video). PASS THE MIC. GRATITUDE. FINGER LICKIN' GOOD. EGG MAN. LOOKING DOWN THE BARREL OF A GUN. GET IT TOGETHER. RHYMIN & STEALIN'.
What really amazes me about these guys is they started out being stereotypical bad boys like this... and then took up Tibetan Buddhism and married feminists. Crazy. MCA's daughter is in the "Make Some Noise" video, the girl on the skateboard.
Paul's Boutique is one album to check out. Peak sampling, peak production, peak everything. Hey Ladies is the single off that album and it'll give you some idea of what it sounds like. It's different than Fight For Your Right.
_Mrs. Doubtfire_ came out in 1993, this song came out in 1986. So, maybe Mrs. Doubtfire was modeled on the mother from this video :):) This is the sound of High School rebellion for me. This song and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" were played over and over at every party I went to.
My dentist used to play these guys and Green Day a lot. Being in the chair while this stuff was playing was at first strange -- but eventually I found it to be relaxing...
When this first came out Nancy Reagans Just Say No was in full swing. We changed the words around a little and sang, fight for your right to smoke weed...lol
This song was written as a parody of partying culture, but people took the song literal and made it an anthem for partying. They quit playing it at live shows because of this.
A lot of people missed LL Cool J's cameo appearance in this video, which does surprise me seeing how he had that popular song I'm bad that came out little bit before this song did
another great classic hit song from beastie boys I use to dj and play this at all the parties or my house or when we skip school or had snow day off from school id blast it in the car going school in the parking lot and people be rocking to it and singing such great song love it one funnest lines everyone sang your mom threw away your best porno mag lol these guys are and were always the funnest and jokesters and put it in there videos how can you not love them I see you guys laughing and loving the music also
You gotta do their last video ever "Make Some Noise" last one before M.C.A. died mad cameo's if you do the 30 minute version but the 5:00 minute version is good too!!!!!!!!!

Early Beastie Boys - high jinks college kids rapping over metal - later, evolved into one of the best of their genre.
