    I was lucky enough to meet up with my incredible friend and Covid pod mate: Inky, of @inkysoupy. In this video we have a casual chat about friendship, fashion, and confidence. We wear our 1901 Edwardian tea gowns and drink tea, eat snacks, and get down to the nitty-gritty of making friends, making clothes, and making time for each other. Please go check out the second part of this video on her channel!
    Special thanks to...

    “You know what? Revenge sleeves!”
    And nothing, it cracked me up! Also, I can relate it soooo much 😂

    Definitely agree with your comment regarding getting caught up so you forget to make something you really want to wear. My dilemma is always how to mesh the design basis with what will actually suit me.
    Thanks for this refreshing window into your friendship and lives. It was lovely to be included in the conversation. It was like "being with my people"! I sooo want to be invited to the Hydrangea Party!!

    This was fun to watch! If I had to pick a favorite era I guess it would be Edwardian fashion although I would love to look more into non western fashion eras.

    I absolutely love this! I also stopped by to say that I have the exact same lamp on the table. It is from my deceased great aunt and is one of my favorite items in my home.

    Omg Japanese bustle dresses give me life!! Lifelong student of Japanese and historical fashion so that combo is probably my favourite. 18th century with the Chinese brocades is also another big favourite. Regency mashup with Korean hanbok would be so cool!
    Love a good teaching experience. Totally agree with enjoying being around people who don't have to explain to, because they already know or understand.

      Omg! Regency hanbok mashup has been noodling around in my brain too! Well now I definitely have to make this happen 🤩

    You two are so cute together! I wish I had costuming buddies cause this whole video is friendship goals! ❤️
    On the plant note "it's like a conversation" heck yes it is. Figuratively and literally because I always talk to my plants!

    This was super fun to watch!
    I was watching in my pj's while taking breakfast 😂 And I have been obsessed with tea parties this past few months as I can't attend anything with this dreaded pandemic.
    I just want a fancy tea gown now hehehe
    Going to watch part 2 now! Your dresses were lovely.

    I think the problem with the way people view the Regency period is that everyone seems to wear dresses suitable for young girls just being “brought out” - i.e. white or pale pastels! They were dresses for 16-17 year old girls! More mature women wore all sorts of colours, and Regency menswear was just gorgeous!

    Ok. Obvs the dresses are amazing, conversation charming, but the room and tea cart are. so. good.

    I wanna be friends with both of you and go to these amazing parties in the after pandemic times. I could even help! I have done event production stuff before! And I 'live' in Seattle too (I mean, the theater industry took a poop so I'm stuck sheltering in my hometown...But I will be back!)

    Is there a fashion districts in Seattle like New York and California have? I know theater is not a thing in Seattle but maybe the population could support a fabric district.

    • @mariekramer156
      @mariekramer156 3 роки тому

      I work in the theater industry in Seattle :) It does exist there- though maybe not as much as some other cities. There isn't a garment district to speak of (I'm from California and can confirm the garment district in LA is unlike anything in Seattle)

    I'm a Seattle native, and I can attest that I magically DID NOT make friends with transplants (apart from maybe three people in college) until coming back to the city after graduate school, elsewhere. They just weren't on my radar. It is weird.

    What is the lolita community?

    • @thesewloartist
      @thesewloartist  3 роки тому +1

      Oh good question! We were just sitting around chatting away 😂 lolita is a fashion from Japan, and there’s a small but active community in the United States who wear the fashion and often like to meet up to chat about fashion and such. The fashion is very feminine and pretty and is very historically inspired. I think for me, and a lot of people, the jump to actual historical fashion felt natural.
