UNRWA is not the only agency capable of administering aid. But, being run by Palestinians & Hamas they will surely do everything to make it seem that way. Bring in UNHCR. And seize the fortunes of Hamas leadership to pay for it.

It think that most U.N. members are nothing more than a bunch of goody-two shoes. They think it's a good idea, they vote in favour and then assume all is well. After all, nobody would think of using U.N. gifts for a purpose other than intended, would they?
UNRWA has been infilitrated by HAMAS, nearly all the money for UNRWA comes from the top five doners in this order: United States, Germany, the European Union, Sweden and Norway. If any aid is allowed to continue it shouldn't be through UNRWA but a separate aid angency controlled by the top donors.
I've read that most Arabs will not help because Gaza is nothing but trouble, that they have tried to help in the past and that did not work. As to cutting off aid...we were not advised or aware of the fact that we were supporting Hamas and supporting the Palestinians with food etc. so they are now addicted to not working and paying their own way. They elected Hamas so have to take responsibility for 7/10. They also knew about the tunnels and corruption but did nothing. The UN also are to blame for allowing this to happen by sending aid knowing it was going to Hamas and their ideals. Last, none of the countries who gave it in good faith could afford it, so their subjects are suffering (needlessly in this case) so now that we know its time to look after our own....as they say charity begins at home, once you fix your own problems then you can help others in need....right now we are far from that stage. The issue is not the dozen employees, it is the possibility that much of the rest could also be compromised. The lack of process to validate this is a huge impediment. Unfortunately in a war where Hamas is hiding either underground or in plain sight as common citizens, these associations, unintended as it may be, do not auger well for UNRWA. Also Hamas, which thought it would make inroads by undertaking Oct 7th, actually has done more damage to Gaza as can be seen by the ruins it is in, but by infiltrating UNRWA it has fundamentally tainted and put at risk whatever humanitarian aid that was coming the way of Gaza.
Grow up, of course there were a few rotten apples and there will always be. Like the English said, they did not stop financial support to the NHS (Health Organization) after they detected, that too many babies were killed by a nurse.
Is there any evidence to suggest there is a more widespread problem? I haven't heard any reporting to suggest that these employees acted with any kind of support from UNRWA, or in their capacity as employees. You can't hold the entire agency responsible for the actions that a few employees took on their own. It's like if the British defunded their entire healthcare system because of that one nurse who was killing babies, which would be a ludicrous overreaction causing way more harm than good. It's important to investigate any links back to UNRWA itself, but suspending funding and allowing the primary distributer of aid to Gaza to cease operations when 2.3 million civilians are facing famine is hugely disproportionate and irresponsible. It's hard to see any real benefit of defunding UNRWA at this stage, meanwhile the consequences are potentially catastrophic with many more innocent people dying.

I've read that most Arabs will not help because Gaza is nothing but trouble, that they have tried to help in the past and that did not work. As to cutting off aid...we were not advised or aware of the fact that we were supporting Hamas and supporting the Palestinians with food etc. so they are now addicted to not working and paying their own way. They elected Hamas so have to take responsibility for 7/10. They also knew about the tunnels and corruption but did nothing. The UN also are to blame for allowing this to happen by sending aid knowing it was going to Hamas and their ideals. Last, none of the countries who gave it in good faith could afford it, so their subjects are suffering (needlessly in this case) so now that we know its time to look after our own....as they say charity begins at home, once you fix your own problems then you can help others in need....right now we are far from that stage. It is very sad, but hopefully they will survive and be able to get the money from Hamas.

The issue is not the dozen employees, it is the possibility that much of the rest could also be compromised. The lack of process to validate this is a huge impediment. Unfortunately in a war where Hamas is hiding either underground or in plain sight as common citizens, these associations, unintended as it may be, do not auger well for UNRWA. Also Hamas, which thought it would make inroads by undertaking Oct 7th, actually has done more damage to Gaza as can be seen by the ruins it is in, but by infiltrating UNRWA it has fundamentally tainted and put at risk whatever humanitarian aid that was coming the way of Gaza.
Grow up, of course there were a few rotten apples and there will always be. Like the English said, they did not stop financial support to the NHS (Health Organization) after they detected, that too many babies were killed by a nurse.

Is there any evidence to suggest there is a more widespread problem? I haven't heard any reporting to suggest that these employees acted with any kind of support from UNRWA, or in their capacity as employees. You can't hold the entire agency responsible for the actions that a few employees took on their own. It's like if the British defunded their entire healthcare system because of that one nurse who was killing babies, which would be a ludicrous overreaction causing way more harm than good.
It's important to investigate any links back to UNRWA itself, but suspending funding and allowing the primary distributer of aid to Gaza to cease operations when 2.3 million civilians are facing famine is hugely disproportionate and irresponsible. It's hard to see any real benefit of defunding UNRWA at this stage, meanwhile the consequences are potentially catastrophic with many more innocent people dying.

It's the worst idea there is. Have a UN body checked by the UN or a former UN director/employee. This is not an independent investigation and cannot lead to a truthful report. UNRWA must transfer its role to the UNCHR and be abolished. Investigation must take place by an independent institution (not UN) into the actions of both foreign staff members and Palestinian employees into their involvement in facilitating, supporting and/or carrying out actions that are related to or benefited terrorist organizations in Gaza or other areas where the UNRWA is active.
Replace UNRWA with independent charity organization who will not celebrate massacres, will not participate in them and will not teach Palestinian children how to become Hamas militants. It shouldn’t be that hard to find few decent people somewhere 🤷🏻♀️
