This is off topic but Sam Bucket's small presence in the lore reminds of how Mexican Dream gotten into it as well dispite being look like just a one off character that they will use once for shits and giggles, but the more MD appear the more people started to see him as more then just a random guy that just shows up here and there for the funny bits from him recruiting people for El rapids and then to him in the Afterlife to him being the reason George and Sapnap found Las Nevadas along with Quackity, this is basically the same thing happening with SB along with the Egg returning in the near future, with Bucket just started off with being a one note character just to drive BBH insane to being apart of the Egg lore and having a bucket cult underneath the egg room

Oh theory time!
So, what if the Egg is actually a manifestation of BadBoyHalo's "Good Conscious?" Think about it. When BBH first found the Egg, he was in love with it, but Sam *hated* it from the start and did everything in his power to convince Bad to either contain it or get rid of it. But Bad got too caught up with it. Hearing the voices, the promises and then when Skeppy got infected that was it for Bad.
So, here's my theory. When Bad trapped Sam on top of the Egg, the Egg took part of Sam. And with the energy it got from Bad manifested this "Sam Bucket" but didn't have enough energy or power to send him out or keep him corporal. When the Egg started to get more energy from everyone else and from all the Chaos with Dream and other new members joining and so much discourse happening. That raw energy that it needed seeped to the Egg. The Egg then created "Sam Bucket" but it started to go after BBH b/c of him being the original member to help the Egg grow.
But Sam didn't believe Bad. He thought Bad was hallucinating due to all the stress and what happened with the prison. However, did anyone else noticed that after every encounter with Sam Bucket, and they start to tell the other what they saw, the more they try to convince the other what they saw, they slowly start to lose the memory of ever seeing Sam Bucket? What if the Egg is making them lose their memory of Sam Bucket b/c when they interact with Sam Bucket they are completely unaware of they are doing?
But that's just a theory! A game - what hold on! That's MatPat's line! Okay, that's my DSMP Theory! What do you Multi-Fandom Fiends think?
I honestly just think that Sam bucket is much like Sam nook, but not under the control and programming of Sam.( there's going to be a lot of Sam's in this comment bare with me)
We all know that Sam has the ability to make robotic versions of himself, much like Sam nook, and possibly the Sam that boomer saw in that unknown location.
Maybe, Sam created a bot to stop people from coming into the egg room, but in leaving the bot in the room, the egg managed to break, destroy and then reprogram it (or possibly last of us style controls the bot with the vines).
Because the egg pretty much no longer has people to do its bidding, Sam bucket is the eggs way of ruling over the smp again.

Sam bucket is targeting bbh because the egg knows that bbh is someone that it can take control of. He was the first member, he was the first one to fall for the egg and to be loyal to it. If Sam bucket and the egg can get control of bbh again the eggpire will be back on its legs.

Theory: what if Sam Bucket has an aura or something that slows down time? Because after Bad’s encounter with him, Sam said that they had just talked. And Bad could have easily gotten back to his house in the time it took Sam to check on the egg and explore the creepy area behind it, but he didn’t. It’s clear that Sam Bucket only shows himself when there’s one person or no one around. So either Bad and Sam were hallucinating or Sam Bucket is slowing down time. I personally am going with the latter.
Maybe it's more of reversing time, since we clearly saw the time change.

I have a theory
The people who died near the egg were bad and foolish, bad ans skeppy share lifes and bad accidentally hit skeppy into lava near the egg and foolish was executed near the egg and Sam bucket was created when Sam was stuck near the egg when bad forced him to be there so Sam buckett is trying to kill more people near the egg to feed it and store thier life in the bucket or the bucket the filled buckets represents life and only bad and foolish's buckets were empty so Sam bucket is trying to clear their life to make egg stronger
But because foolish is immortal how would it be able to kill foolish? As you said, bad and skeppy share lives so therefore bad had lost a life when skeppy died indicating the water bucket. The unnamed bucket pillars indicate people who need to be killed to... Complete the set? Hatch The Egg?...

Sometimes i have the feeling of being uneasy when it comes to sam bucket. Considering all the journals were bads experience during the egg. Maybe sam bucket isnt a person rather a spirit of some sorts? It seems like sam bucket is a being created by the egg. Considering the saying "the more the egg eats, the more it gets stronger" as we say in the banquet when it covered itself in obsidian. And if im correct the egg can eat through anything,maybe when they covered the egg with obsidian it slowly ate through the obsidian which would explain the recent blackouts bads been having. Sudden memory loss, sudden change in expression and how he acts, and purely not knowing whats happening once he gets control of his body again. That was the last time we ever saw bad go through that, but suddenly afterwards we meet sam bucket? Is that really a convinience? Possibly, but the thought of it is way to good to be a coincedence.

I'm running with the theory that sam bucket is a sort of lovecraftian eldritch being, mainly one that lurks and thrives in people's subconscious. The deal with the buckets, being a representation of a person's sanity or something; hence the buckets from bad, and the ritual. Maybe he can only act if someone knows of him, maybe bad mentioned him to foolish, or because he spent so much time at the summer home during that one stream, he somehow formed some connection with foolish's energy (if that makes sense?) so hes the next target, his name on a sign. And now since Sam knows about him, and is putting out so much energy regarding him, thinking of him, talking of him, sam bucket is able to manifest himself to sam. Taking root in sams subconscious.

7:36 It would kinda make sense if the buckets meant who the egg was targeting because first it went after bad and then it directly/indirectly killed foolish and then the vines started following him/showing up on and in the doozer HQ ( which he built) and in separate occasions all over his summer house like on the snake, inside one of the other builds in his summer home and on the DreamXD statue, so it would make some sort of sense if the buckets meant who the egg was purposefully targeting.
