I’m so happy you’re both continuing Breaking Bad. It’s probably my favorite TV series ever. And also, I’ve been watching this channel for a couple of years now, and i gotta say, I just love the relationship you both have with each other. It reminds me of the relationship that my mom and I have. ❤️
Wow. I’ve watched BB 3x + a lot of reactions and never noticed the banked dirt in Jesse’s basement. My last house, in Atlanta, had a basement that looked just like that. House built in 1918. Love you two- mature, perceptive, and interesting to watch. Can’t wait to see your BB journey. Just hoping Mom gets so hooked so fast you’ve gotta do more than 2 episodes a week!🙏😉❤️
Great point at 41:20 about all the extra considerations when dealing within the American healthcare system. Often times it's not even the money that's the biggest burden, it's all the damn red tape, paperwork, phone tag, and inevitable miscommunication between all parties involved just for the privilege of having the procedure that you then get to pay out your ass for. It's designed to make you give up.
Love you both! You're my kind of people! I'm binging your Sopranos reactions and almost done. Breaking bad and The Sopranos are my favorite shows of ALL time!
Interesting to hear you both find Hank to be abrasive. I have akways liked Hank from the get go. He’s that entertaining drunk uncle at family gatherings!
Whenever I would hear anyone ask that question about what the gateway drug is for meth or heroin, I would always answer, coffee, or sugar because I would argue that they are both by definition drugs in the fact that there is a psychoactive property in both that make you feel different than when you are consuming them, and just about every meth or heroin addict has had coffee and sugar in their life before becoming addicted. Alcohol and nicotine would also fit in the gateway drug category.
It's absolutely not true this show could only take place in America. There's 2 reasons for this: 1) Keep in mind, like all teachers, Walt had health insurance. But the reason Walt and his family couldn't pay for the cancer treatment is because Marie and Skyler convinced him he has to get care from the "dream team" of doctors, which means he would have to go outside his Health Insurance's network of providers. Even in most countries with universal healthcare, patients just can't go to whatever physician/medical facility they want and expect to get their care covered....at least not without a significant waiting period. 2) The reason Walt went into cooking meth wasn't so much about paying for medical expenses but it was about leaving money behind for his family. This is especially since Walt feels like a bit of a failure and that and that he didn't live up to his potential in life. This desire to want to make sure your family can be financially provided for after you're gone is a universal desire that exists in every country on earth.
Switzerland here. Totally agree on number 2. About number 1: We can get the opportunity to choose our own doctors. But of course we pay a bit more for that kind of insurance. But if we stay inside the network of our insurance, there's still the opportunity, that our own doctor sends us to another, more specialized doctor. And then the insurance still pays it.
Walt wouldn’t worry as much about leaving something for his family if the healthcare system took care of him and the appropriate treatment was available but also affordable. Where else could this have reasonably taken place?
As much as the U.S. healthcare system is broken, you're missing the point of Walt's motives. Even if his medical bills were taken care of, he would still leave his family with nothing. He has his pride - notice how he bristles at Hank saying he would take care of them.
Yes sometimes people who don't smoke get lung cancer because other things cause lung cancer like Granite countertops granite can be the second leading cause of lung cancer because it omits something that you breath in i forget what its called but you can measure hoe much your granite gives off with a meter
There is practically nothing wrong with this entire series. Pretty perfect. So, yes, this is a nitpick about something that doesn't even bother me a bit. But..."skunk" weed is fire.
This show was made in the 2000s' so there's the 'gateway drug' rhetoric associated with marijuana, and it seems like that aspect of the show hadn't aged as well with what we know now, but I actually think that's intentional by the writers. Marie and Skylar and Hank and Jessie's parents all overreact about it whenever it's brought up, but we don't actually see the negative effects of it in the show like we do with other drugs. Jake still has his life together and is high achieving, and even Hank jokes about showing "autopsy of a pot overdose," to Marie. I think all these examples along with a later convo talking about the legality of stuff now compared to the past, the writers were aware of society's overreaction to marijuana and is sort of using that to convey how little most characters know about drugs. Maybe I'm wrong about that last takeaway, but I do think the 'gateway drug' writing is an intentional choice. Great vids btw!!! :)
I guess that why Canadians with the money come to the US for treatment, huh? Socialized healthcare by necessity means wait times and rationing of treatment.

Walt and Jesse bickering is one of the hallmarks of the show and always great to watch.
"Her husband's a police officer. How would you...?"
Policing isn't exactly known for accountability, and that often extends to family.

In Denmark we have high taxes, but when we get sick and go to the hospital, we don't pay for any of it 🙂
Enjoying your reactions. Your Mom is awesome
The technical terminology is "great reaction, yo!"

That's an excellent point!
As a Canadian, U.S. healthcare is horrifying.
“We’re talking major barnyard boo hog” Ken wins
Everytime, without fail, that I watch ep 3, I get a craving for that old style Oscar Mayer bologna.

I always thought this too…

Skyler thinks weed is a gateway drug, so Hank had to go with it.
Ahh yes, for profit health care 😢

I guess that why Canadians with the money come to the US for treatment, huh?
Socialized healthcare by necessity means wait times and rationing of treatment.
