Wow fantastic video of this RR operation. Jenny and I want to get out to see them very soon. Enjoyed watching and will watch it again when Jenny gets home from work. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend.(Steve)
I want to film the railroad in case the CN does take over. Though, I am fairly new to filming trains and are there any good spots to set up from Waterloo to Manly? Also, Great catches!
The best places to find their trains are at the yards. The main yard in Waterloo is right along Texas St, Butler Yard is on Old Hwy 3 in Shell Rock, and the yard in Manly can be seen from E Harris St.
Hopefully the STB dejects CN's plan to takeover them. Definitely would be sad to see what is basically Iowa's EJ&E suffer a similar fate at what was one of the Midwest's most popular Class 2's
It's pretty random. I saw them leave around 4pm, but they've left at 1am before. There is a Steel Highway rail cam in Manly that is helpful for getting timing on when they leave.
How old are you turning this year? Ill be 26 years old . nice video footage of the Iowa northern railwsy. Did you see the steel highway rail cam in cedar falls junction!
Good lord, the side to side rocking in the Plymouth, IA shot is amazing. I wonder if the crew gets a little nervous.
It’s supposed to be getting the welded rail put in soon. For the meantime we just gotta enjoy the ride and go Weeeeeeee!
@IANR3808 the crew must have necks like bobbleheads!
@@IANR3808 That does sort of sum it up doesn't it. LOL

You we're rail fanning in my neck of the woods
As of today, CN just acquired IANR
When do they leave Manly?

As a local from Cedar Falls, you did well
CN taking over Iowa Northern?
Why do they use slugs? The only thing I can figure is that they want to increase traction, but the speeds are fairly low.
Extra motive power. They also liked that they’re clean - they have no engine inside them
3000hp on a 4 axle was pushing them on wheel slips. These slugs helped a bit overall on the 3000hp units we run.
@@TheLootownpunx do you work on a railway with slugs?
yikes! speed restriction? Can't imagine why MOW crews haven't fixed that stretch of rr..
Low revenue
